MAC Yellow Topaz CCB & Firebrush Bronzer

MAC Yellow Topaz Cream Colour Base ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, yellow gold with warm undertones and a pearly shimmer-sheen finish. It had sheer color payoff that was somewhat buildable to semi-sheer coverage. The texture of this shade was less emollient than other Cream Colour Bases, so it had less shine and a subtle shimmered effect on the skin. I think the finish is more apparent in person than in photos, but it is a subtler effect. It lasted for seven hours on me (of the eight hours it is marketed as having). Laura Mercier Addiction (P, $44.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Whisper of Gilt (LE, $30.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Becca Moonstone (P, $38.00) is lighter (90% similar). theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). Dior Glowing Nude (002) (LE, $58.00) is more shimmery (85% similar). Anastasia So Hollywood (P, $28.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Vibe Tribe Lipsticks

MAC Tanarama Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a light-medium, pale gold with warm undertones and a frosted shimmer-sheen finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly, but I noticed it tended to emphasize lip lines and separate slightly near them. I could feel the texture of the shimmer particles when applying, but it wasn’t chunky or rough to apply or to wear. This shade was lightly drying but lasted for three hours. Tom Ford Beauty Rory (LE, $35.00) is warmer (85% similar). MAC You've Got It (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). MAC All I Want (LE, $17.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). NARS Redemption (LE, $29.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Adobe Brick & Painted Canyon Blushes

MAC Adobe Brick Blush ($23.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a medium red with warm, orange undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had good color payoff with a thin, slightly drier texture that was harder to blend out on the skin. I would recommend patting loose powder over the skin first, and then applying the blush as it helped to make the blush more blendable for me. The color lasted for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably. MAC News Flash! (P, $16.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Kevyn Aucoin Fira (P, $37.00) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Slowburn (P) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). NYX Crimson (P, $6.50) is cooler (85% similar). KIKO 107 Tomato (P, $12.00) is more muted (85% similar). Becca Lantana (P, $32.00) is brighter, warmer (85% similar). NARS Exhibit A (P, $30.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Pro Longwear Colour Sticks (Part 1)

MAC Pro Longwear Colour Stick ($22.00 for 0.049 oz.) is supposed to be a “medium-to-full coverage” cream eyeshadow pencil that can be used “all-over” the lid or as “statement liner.” The formula is described as “long-wearing, vibrant, and impactful” as well as waterproof. They have decent to good color payoff with fairly smooth consistencies, but they aren’t the creamiest nor the most emollient, so some shades can tug (the more metallic/shimmery shades tended to be the more emollient, while some of the matte to semi-matte shades were drier) or pull on the lid or lash line. The formula is waterproof and fade/smudge-proof; I didn’t have any issues with creasing after ten hours of wear with any of them. I did, however, find them hard to apply and blend out, as they dry down almost instantly. They are pretty hard to use together, as they don’t like to blend into each other, whether you use fingertips, a brush, silicone applicator, foam applicator, damp brush, synthetic brush, natural brush, or the shadow stick itself. This is also true with an attempt to use it all over the lid as a single color; I had the best luck using some of the lighter shades as a wash of color and applying with my fingertip, which helped to keep the product a little more malleable. They are easiest to use as a base, but they have a drier texture that made powders look a little dry/chalky on top at times. They can work as a liner as well (eight to ten hours), and a few of the lighter shades I tried on my lower waterline with varying degrees of success (six to eight hours), though I am not sure if they are recommended for waterline usage (MAC should likely have that info listed when they go live on the website).

MAC x Chris Chang Cream Colour Bases

MAC Sock-it Xiqu Cream Colour Base ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “dirty lavender.” It’s a bright, light-medium lavender with cool undertones and a pearly sheen. I like to pat it on with fingertips and then use a synthetic brush to blend out. The color lasted for seven hours on me. MAC Full of Joy (P, $22.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). NARS Sex Fantasy (LE, $30.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Sephora Over the Moon (14) (DC, $14.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar).
