MAC Wash & Dry Makeup Bag Review & Photos

MAC Wash & Dry Makeup Bag ($35.00) is a new, limited edition zippered, rectangular makeup bag that will be available at select MAC stores and online at maccosmetics.com beginning May 14th (stores on May 21st). It’s tapered so the bottom widens and flattens out, so the bag retains most of its shape even with nothing in it, which helps it stand up as well. The bag is 8 inches / 20 centimeters in length, 4.5 inches / 11.5 centimeters in height, and 2 inches / 5 centimeters in depth. The exterior is 100% PU (a poly synthetic leather), and the interior lining is 100% polyester, which is black in color.

MAC Green Clean Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Trio

MAC Green Clean Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Trio ($27.50 for 0.07 oz.) is a green-themed set of shades that ranges from a light, washed-out green, chartreuse, and olive green. The three shades worked well together, and I liked that the finishes varied a bit. The formula is inconsistent with the color payoff, but the three shades wore well on the eyelid and were fairly easy to use, so if the variance in opacity doesn’t bother you, it may still be worth a look if you’re a big fan of green.

MAC Wash & Dry Bronzers

MAC Matte Bronze Bronzing Powder ($27.50 for 0.35 oz.) is described as a “bronze.” It’s a muted, medium brown with subtle, warm yellow undertones and a matte finish. The texture was drier, chalky, and powdery–but very thin–which made it difficult to get it to stick to the skin. It is better applied over still-damp foundation, but over bare skin, it is more difficult to use. It had semi-sheer color payoff that was buildable to semi-opaque coverage. On me, the color wore well for seven hours before fading. This shade is part of the permanent range. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil (P) is yellower. Tom Ford Beauty Terra (P, $65.00) is darker, cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

MAC Permanent Press Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Trio

MAC Permanent Press Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Trio ($27.50 for 0.07 oz.) is a mix of muted white, brown, and taupe. I liked that the darkest shade had less sparkle/shimmer, which enables the trio to have more depth when used as a trio. Unfortunately, that darker shade was a little more difficult to blend compared to the other two more shimmery shades. The color payoff ranges from sheer to mostly opaque, depending on whether you use it dry or wet, which is as described. All three eyeshadows wore for eight hours on me, regardless of whether I used them dry or wet.

MAC Warm Wash Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Trio

MAC Warm Wash Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Trio ($27.50 for 0.07 oz.) is a warm-toned set of shades that range from golden beige to copper. This eyeshadow formula is supposed to give “sheer coverage with a soft finish” when applied dry and “super saturation of colour with metallic brilliance” when applied wet. My experience with this formula is that sometimes it can be really nice, other times it is a total miss. I think they are most practical used damp or over a slightly tacky base if you want to use them dry. They’re actually longer-wearing than you might think, given how they feel and swatch, but I usually get seven to eight hours of crease-free wear. The other thing I’ve noticed with the Veluxe Pearlfusion palettes has been an inclination to repeat shades (either intentionally or they just have ended up very similar to a previously release).

MAC Wash & Dry Lipglasses

MAC Domestic Diva Lipglass ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “frosty watery pink.” It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned pink with a lot of multi-colored, fine shimmer. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage that went on evenly and smoothly. This shade wore well for almost five hours on me and was neither hydrating nor drying. MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus (LE, $15.00) is sheerer, cooler-toned. MAC Social Season (LE, $20.00) is less pigmented. MAC Astral (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
