Dior Jazz Club Collection for Fall 2009 Sneak Peek – Part 1
Dior’s Jazz Club definitely caught a lot of your eyes when the information first rolled out. This week, we’ll be previewing some of the fall collections, and here’s our first preview item — Dior’s Neglige Pink Addict Lip Color ($26.00). It’s a pigmented, soft raspberry-pink shade that goes onto lips easily, smoothly, and leaves a soft, glistening sheen. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate a color that’s opaque–yet is not even close to being over the top!

Prescriptives’ launched Exhilarating this summer, and I gotta tell you, that green packaging caught my eye. I’d say it’s one of my favorite packagings I’ve seen for the summer thus far. I know some of you find it tacky, but I love it. It’s so bright, vibrant, and SO summer. The Guava Exhilarating Lip Gloss ($14.50) smells like slightly sweet fruit and has this gold and springy green shimmer. It reminds me a bit of MAC’s Springbean lipglass, but this doesn’t feel nearly as sticky, though it is quite thick. I also tried Nectarine Exhilarating Lipcolor ($17.50), which is a semi-sheer coral shade. It doesn’t lean pink, nor too orange, so I actually found myself liking it quite a bit. If you know me, you KNOW I’m all over a good coral lipstick/lipgloss! Definitely a perfect color for summer.

PK 369, PK 325N
I recently tried two products from shu uemura’s Rouge Unlimited Pink Collection, which is a summer collection featuring nine Rouge Unlimited lipsticks and five Gloss Unlimited lipglosses–all pink themed, of course!
I tried PK 325N, which is a light pink gloss with blue-purple undertones. It applied fairly sheerly, but it still gave my lips a nice pink tint along with fuchsia sparkles that kind of cast a blue-violet shade. The shimmer is soft and fine, so it doesn’t feel like chunky glitter in the least.
I also tested out PK 369, which is a bright pink lipstick with blue undertones. This is an opaque lip color that packs quite a bit of pink punch. It’s definitely not for anyone afraid of rockin’ a bold lip! It feels creamy, and the finish is a glossy sheen that works well when worn alone.
Combining the two created a very glossy, fuchsia-ish pout. You could see a lot of the purplish shimmer from the gloss bring o the brightness in the lipstick. The two worked well together, though the combination is extremely bright!

NARS’ Tropic Collection for Summer 2009 may not have been my favorite I’ve been able to sneak a peek at this summer, but Belize lip gloss was prettier than I anticipated. I couldn’t tell you that I’d really recommend it, given it’s $24, but it’s worth considering if you like milky glosses.

I know everyone was really excited over Tropic eyeshadow ($22.00), including me, but it disappointed me in the end. In the promotional image, it looked like a gorgeous shimmering blue–like glittering water on a hot summer’s day, you know? In real life, it’s extremely different. It has chunky, silvery bits and pieces that lay on top on a matte, dark bluish-teal. When swatched, it really ends up being a mostly matte color, because the silver glitter is really too large to stay on easily. It’s pigmented, though it is more powdery in its finish, so if you have trouble working with mattes, this one might give you a tough time, too.
Scorching Sun duo eyeshadow ($32.00) was another product that caught my eye from the get-go, because it looked like it would have a really sunny orange in it. It’s more of an orange with a little bit of yellow in it paired with a medium orange. The lighter orange doesn’t have much shimmer (if any), while the medium shade of orange has a little bit–enough of it to give it a soft sheen. The duo is pretty, and the texture and pigmentation are right on par of what I’d expect in a NARS eyeshadow. A part of me just wishes it was yellower!
Outsider lipstick ($24.00) is a sheer peachy-pink shade with a fairly frosty finish. I think Falbala lipstick would probably be more pigmented, but I’ll have to check it out in stores to confirm. Belize lipgloss ($24.00) is a lovely shade of subdued fleshy pink with gold shimmer.
Overall, I’d pass on the lipstick and Tropic eyeshadow, but I’d suggest checking out the eyeshadow duo for sure. If you’re a gloss kind of gal, Belize might be up your alley, too. For $24, I’d rather blow it on one of NARS’ permanent eyeshadows than the gloss, though, so perhaps test out some of their other eyeshadows!
