Illamasqua Flare Lipstick

Illamasqua Flare Lipstick (£15.50 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “bright orange,” and it is new for spring/summer and part of the brand’s Toxic Nature collection, which should show up at Sephora in April. For now, though, it is available through Illamasqua directly.   It’s a vibrant, medium-dark orange–it’s almost neon but more like traffic cone orange.

Illamasqua Atomic Lipstick

Illamasqua Atomic Lipstick (£15.50 for 0.14 oz.) is new for spring/summer and part of the brand’s Toxic Nature collection, which should show up at Sephora in April. For now, though, it is available through Illamasqua directly.  Illamasqua describes Atomic as a “fuchsia violet.”  After swatching and applying, Atomic is a deep, reddened fuchsia with violet and fuchsia sheen.  It has that satin finish but such a strong pull of iridescent sheen that it almost looks like a frost.

Make Up For Ever #50 Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick

my thoughts on the formula: The Rouge Artist Intense formula is typically opaque, and while it’s not a moisturizing lipstick, it’s not a drying one either, though it does not feel creamy against the lips (it may take a little more pressure to apply than your average lipstick). With lighter shades, I see four hours of wear, but with darker shades, I get around five to six hours of wear.

Wet ‘n’ Wild 909D Mega Last Lip Color

Wet ‘n’ Wild #909D Mega Last Lip Color ($2.99 for 0.11 oz.) is a long-wearing formula designed to last four hours while providing full color coverage in one stroke in semi-matte, cream finishes. #909D is a rich coral-orange that leans far more orange than it does coral, but it’s not quite a true orange. It did deliver true, opaque color in a single pass.  I do wish they would include the actual names, rather than just the number, on the label.

Bobbi Brown Lilac Rich Lip Color Lipstick

Even though Bobbi Brown just released her new Rich Lip Color formula, there’s a new and limited edition shade included in the Peony & Python Collection — Lilac Rich Lip Color Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.), which is described as a “light pink tint.” When I swatched it, Lilac is a soft plummy pink with cool undertones, and when worn, it is semi-opaque and looks more pink than plum.

Chanel Teheran (56) Rouge Coco Lipstick

Chanel Teheran (56) Rouge Coco Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a frosted pinked coral with soft iridescent pink-fuchsia shimmer. It’s a warmer shade, which means it will suit warmer complexions with ease. I think the way the pink sheen catches the light may make it wearable for cooler skin tones, though. For a Rouge Coco, it has a surprising amount of color coverage–virtually opaque–and didn’t seem as dry as other shades I’ve tried with similar frost finishes.
