NYX Stone Cold, Wrath, Mischievous Wicked Lippies

NYX Wicked Lippies
NYX Wicked Lippies

NYX Stone Cold Wicked Lippie ($6.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a silvery-white with cool undertones and a frosted, metallic finish. It had semi-sheer color payoff, which is a lot less than expected based on the formula description. I would say this is more of a layering shade than one for wear on its own, since it is sheerer. On me, it lasted for three hours. Tom Ford Beauty Moonlight (LE, $49.00) is lighter. MAC Eloquent Air (LE, $16.00) is cooler-toned. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Iced (P, $18.00) is more pigmented. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

NYX Wrath Wicked Lippie ($6.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a coppery brown with warm, reddish undertones and a metallic shimmer-sheen. It had mostly opaque color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly. The consistency was creamy and very emollient, but it lasted surprisingly long at five and a half hours. Kat Von D Gothica (P, $21.00) is lighter, less shimmery. Revlon Sandstorm (LE, $7.99) is lighter, redder. Milani Bronze Beauty (P, $5.49) is lighter. MAC Sheer Seduction (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Maybelline Mochachino (P, $7.49) is lighter. MAC Tabla (P, $16.00) is less shimmery. MAC Subverted (LE, $16.00) is darker, redder. MAC Photo (P, $16.00) is less shimmery. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Authentic (P, $18.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

NYX Mischievous Wicked Lippie ($6.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a brightened, yellow gold with a metallic sheen and shimmer. It semi-opaque color coverage that covered evenly for the most part. The consistency was very creamy with a lot of slip, but it seems to evaporate/dry down, as it ended up lasting for four and a half hours on me. MAC Playland (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Dolce and Gabbana Topazio (LE, $33.00) is darker. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Triptych (P, $18.00) is brighter, more metallic. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Estee Lauder Impulsive (210) Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick

Estee Lauder Impulsive (210) Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick
Estee Lauder Impulsive (210) Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick

Estee Lauder Impulsive (210) Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a light-medium, warm-toned pink with soft, yellow undertones and a natural finish. Bobbi Brown Pink Kiss (P, $26.00) is very similar in color, just more matte. NARS Vanessa (P, $32.00) is darker. Kat Von D Lovecraft (P, $21.00) is darker, more matte. Too Faced Taffy (P, $22.00) is lighter, warmer. Urban Decay Native (P, $22.00) is slightly darker. NYX Chic (P, $4.00) is more shimmery. MAC Giddy (P, $16.00) is more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I reviewed a lot of shades from the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick formula previously, so just to recap: the formula is supposed to be very hydrating and pigmented with a creamy consistency. Impulsive is nicely pigmented, but the creamier consistency has enough slip in it that it looks a bit streaky applied. I don’t think it’s too noticeable from a normal viewing distance, but it’s not as foolproof as other shades in the range. It lasted for four hours on me, but it was nicely hydrating during that time.

NYX Key Lime, Pistachio, Blue Velvet Lipsticks

NYX Macaron Lippie
NYX Macaron Lippie

NYX Key Lime Macaron Lippie ($6.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to be a “creamy and highly pigmented” formula that features more “pastel and neon” shades. They also note it has a “satin matte finish” and “long-wearing resilience.” The formula has a lot of slip to it, so it glides on and never tugs on lips, but it also had a tendency to go on somewhat unevenly (the degree dependent on the shade). The wear time for these three shades was a little longer than average. The formula was comfortable to wear, and it was neither drying nor hydrating.

Key Lime is a pop of light-medium, slightly muted lime green with warm, yellow undertones and a luminous shine. It applied unevenly and looked streaky on, though it seemed to have a decent amount of pigmentation to it. The formula just was so creamy that the color wouldn’t stay in place as well. The color wore well for four hours. I couldn’t think of any dupes for this from other green-hued shades I’ve tried (which is, albeit, not nearly as numerous as reds I’ve tried!).

Pistachio is a light, bluish-aqua with a satin finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage, and while it applied better than expected for such a creamy, emollient, and pastel shade, it was uneven at the end of the day. It might work with a lip primer (readers have suggested NYX’s own Lip Primer helps a lot) or lip pencil underneath to mitigate some of the slippery consistency of the formula. It wore well for four and a half hours. NYX Scandalous (P, $6.00) is darker, more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Blue Velvet is a brightened, medium-dark blue–almost periwinkle blue to me, as there’s a soft, dusty quality to it, but it doesn’t overwhelm the color, so it still looks brighter. It had more of a luminous finish with a fair amount of shine. It applied evenly for the most part, but it wasn’t perfect in application due to the higher slip in the formula. This shade stayed on for five hours and left a stain behind. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pool Boy (P, $18.00) is much lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Bite Beauty Best Bite Remix

Bite Beauty Best Bite Remix
Bite Beauty Best Bite Remix

Bite Beauty Best Bite Remix ($25.00 for 0.20 oz.) includes four mini-sized High Pigment Lip Pencils. They come in a red, metal tin (much like a mint tin), and each pencil is 0.05 oz. Full-sized pencils are $24.00 for 0.09 oz. or $266.67/oz., which makes this set worth $53.33. Sable and Winterberry seem to be exclusive to this, while Rhubarb and Pomegranate are part of the permanent range. I have reviewed a few shades previously here, and my experience with the pencils in this set are similar to ones I’ve had with full-sized, which is a good sign. All four shades were quite pigmented with creamy, glide-on textures that never dragged on the lips, but they weren’t slippery, so they didn’t slide around once applied. The wear varied from shade to shade, but they wore four hours or longer (see below). They’re comfortable to wear, as they don’t cling, and they were lightly hydrating. Bite describes the finish as “modern matte,” but they’re more satin to natural in finish–there’s a noticeable sheen.

Sable is described as a “nude.” It’s a light, rosy beige with soft, warm undertones and a light sheen. It had opaque pigmentation that went on evenly and smoothly, and over time, the color faded but didn’t pull into lip lines (often an issue with lighter shades like this). The color wore well for four and a half hours on me. See swatches of dupes / view dupes side-by-side.

Rhubarb is described as a “plum rose.” It’s a muted, medium-dark pinky-plum with a luminous finish. This shade had full color coverage, and again, it went on beautifully–no dragging, just even, smooth color. It lasted for five hours and was lightly hydrating over time. See swatches of dupes / view dupes side-by-side.

Winterberry is described as a “festive raspberry red.” It’s a berry-red with subtle, cool undertones and a luminous sheen. This shade a little more slip compared to the other three, though it still went on evenly and smoothly (and I didn’t have any feathering/bleeding over time). The color lasted for six and a half hours, and it left behind a soft stain. See swatches of dupes / view dupes side-by-side.

Pomegranate is described as a “rich red.” It’s a bright, medium red with soft, blue undertones. I can tell it’s blue based, as there is a pinkish tone to it when blended out, but it reads closer to neutral due to my coloring (so I’d expect it to be a bit cooler on cooler skin tones). It had very, very rich color payoff that glided on easily and delivered smooth, even color coverage. The color lasted for six hours and stained slightly. See swatches of dupes / view dupes side-by-side.

Guerlain Rouge G Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, & Swatches (Part 4)

Guerlain Geneva Rouge G Lipstick
Guerlain Geneva Rouge G Lipstick

Here are the currently available warmer orange/reds from the Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick ($51.00 for 0.12 oz.) range–there are a surprising amount of them! The Rouge G formula is a long-wearing, moisturizing lipstick with a moderately creamy consistency that glides on easily and leaves a lightly glossy, luminous finish behind. Most shades are mostly opaque to fully opaque, though a few are less pigmented. I find the formula to be consistent overall, but there are a few that I like less than others. I reviewed the majority the range four or five years ago, and of course, any newly released shades since–hope you’ve enjoyed this update! 🙂

Geneva is a brightened, medium coral-orange with warm udnertones and a glossy, luminous sheen. It had rich color coverage that gave lips a fuller, plumper look. It wore well for five hours and kept my lips feeling hydrated both during and after wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Genna is described as a “poppy red.” It’s a brightened, medium orange with warm, red undertones and a luminous finish. It had full color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly. This shade lasted for six and a half hours on me, and it was incredibly comfortable and moisturizing while worn. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Gilda is described as a “warm red.” It’s a slightly muted, medium-dark orange-toned red with warm undertones and a luminous finish. It was intensely pigmented and applied evenly with rich, smooth color. This shade wore well for six and a half hours on me and left behind a light stain. The formula was lightweight, moisturizing, and comfortable to wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Gipsy is described as a “deep tangerine.” It’s a muted, medium orange with lighter, tangerine shimmer and a glossy finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage that applied evenly overall. It seemed a little more emollient than the average shade in the formula. It wore well for four and a half hours on me and was very hydrating during that time. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Gisela is described as a “terracotta rose.” It’s a deepened, muted rusty red with warm, orange undertones and orange pearl. It had a less glossy finish compared to much of the Rouge G range, but it still had a light shine. The color wore well for six and a half hours, and it left behind a subtle stain. It was nicely hydrating throughout the wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Guerlain Galiane Rouge G Lipstick
Guerlain Galiane Rouge G Lipstick

Here are the currently available beiges/browns from the Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick ($51.00 for 0.12 oz.) range–a lot of their lighter beiges seem to be discontinued now. I reviewed the majority the range four or five years ago, and of course, any newly released shades since, but I thought it was time for an update for the shades still available today. 🙂
