MAC Fabulous Felines - Palace Pedigreed
Lipglass: Docile, Lap of Luxury, Best of Breed

MAC Fabulous Felines: Palace Pedigreed Review, Photos, Swatches (Lips & Cheek)

Make sure you’ve read part one, which covers all of the eyeshadows, pigments, and eyeliners!

Lipstick ($14.50 U.S. / $17.50 CDN)

  • Aristo-Cat is a semi-opaque played-down pink with mauve and a golden-peach sheen and high frost finish. It has a cooler tone to it, though not overly so (closer to neutral than really cool). This is a very frosty lipstick, so if that’s not your thing, I’d definitely skip this shade. I really like the color, and no immediately dupes are coming to mind — it’s kind of like the cool-toned version of Fresh Salmon (Spring Colour Forecast).
  • Cunning is a semi-sheer deep berry red with a supposedly frost finish. This doesn’t feel or look like a frost at all to me–it has more of a glaze or lustre feel and look. I find this shade rather streaky, and it seems to accentuate every single line in my lips. Might be nicer as a stain.
  • Of Royalty is a creamy, light-medium pink with subtle blue undertones, so it’s one of those candy pink lipsticks… that actually doesn’t take on an almost purple look (like Saint Germain, Snob, etc.).  However, it is rather similar to that family of shades (Saint Germain, Snob, VG Gaga, etc. etc.).  It has a cremesheen finish.
  • Superior is a sheer pink and silvered-white glittered lipstick with a dazzle finish.  It’s more of a layering shade than to be worn alone (and by layering, it helps keep the glitter from migrating elsewhere, too).

Lipglass ($14.50 U.S. / $17.50 CDN)

  • Best of Breed is an ultra sheer, pale, cloudy blue with multicolored shimmer, though predominantly white shimmer. It’s similar to Chillin’, but it has shimmer. It will give lips a slightly cooler tone, but overall.
  • Docile is a sheer, cool-toned, iridescent pale, milky pink with multicolored shimmer. It reminded me of Icescape, or a lighter, more muted version of Cultured lipglass.
  • Lap of Luxury is a reddened berry with multicolored shimmer, though predomindantly darkened pink. It’s semi-opaque, but it does settle a bit into lip lines and can look blotchy if you aren’t careful. I feel like I’ve seen this color but I’m blanking on possible dupes at the moment, but hopefully will have some for you next week when I update the post with missing items. Right now, it reminds me of the lipglass version of Odyssey lipstick.

Mineralize Blush ($21.00 U.S. / $25.00 CDN)

  • Pet Me is a soft, medium pink with yellow undertonse, which makes it a warmer pink. It doesn’t appear to have any shimmer, though perhaps a very subtle sheen. Overall, more of a semi-matte finish, though. If you liked Dainty, you’d probably like this shade.

MAC Fabulous Felines - Burmese Beauty
Lipglass: Spree, Fancy Cat

MAC Fabulous Felines:  Burmese Beauty Review, Photos, Swatches (Lips & Cheek)

Be sure to check out part one if you’re looking for the eyeshadow quad, eyeliners, and pigments that go along with this part of the collection.

Lipglass ($14.50 U.S. / $17.50 CDN)

  • Fancy Cat is a darkened brown with a slight plum edge and multi-colored shimmer, though predominantly yellowed gold. It has a semi-opaque look on lips; may look splotchy when worn alone.  It’s a little similar to Chai lipglass, but I’d say the shimmer is what differentiates the two.
  • Spree is a darkened champagne-coral with lots of frosty shimmer. It’s nearly opaque on lips.
  • Jealous is a sheer green-tinged base with white, green-gold, and pale gold shimmer.  Better for layering than worn alone, since it tends to just look like clear gloss with shimmer by itself.  It’s much cooler and paler than Springbean lustreglass.

Lipstick ($14.50 U.S. / $17.50 CDN)

  • Kittenish is a darkened red with subtle ruby shimmer with a cremesheen finish. It’s opaque, and it’s rather slippery and glaze-like for a cremesheen. If you typically find cremesheens drying and often skip the formula, you may want to give Kittenish the once-over. It feels like a lighter version of Media (permanent).
  • Liquid Lurex is a multi-colored, slightly yellowed gray glittered dazzle finish lipstick–was also recently released with Digi-Pops. This is a shade better layered than worn alone.
  • Pet Me Please is a pale mauve with a high frost finish. If you are not a fan of shimmery or frosty lips, definitely skip this one. It is one of the frostier lipsticks I’ve seen released lately. It is opaque, though.   It’s a bit similar to Pervette, but it’s a lot frostier, more opaque, and pinker.
  • To Pamper is a semi-opaque taupe nude with a lustre finish. For a lustre, it’s surprisingly pigmented, but it has that glossy, slightly sheered out look, too. This is very nude, and on me, not so flattering as it blends in with my skin tone.  It reminded me of Call My Bluff (In the Groove) as well as Shitaki (permanent).

Mineralize Blush ($21.00 U.S. / $25.00 CDN)

  • The Soft Meow is a muted medium tan brown. It’s not warm, it’s not cool–it’s very neutral. It’s more of a bronzing shade than a contouring color. Personally, it seemed a little dirty on my skin tone, though–perhaps because it lacks warmth, so on my warmer skin tone, it doesn’t look so hot.

Benefit Ms. Behavin' Lipstick

The Sultry Season: Benefit Ms. Behavin’ Lipstick Lipstick

Benefit Ms. Behavin’ Lipstick ($18.00 for oz.) is creamy mulberry in their Silky Finish line-up.  It’s a reddened berry with dark fuchsia micro-shimmer.  It has a very glaze-like finish–it’s got that look of a sheer lipstick, but it’s not that sheer (though it’s not opaque!).  There’s a nice natural glossiness to the lipstick as well, so it can be worn alone without looking dry.  I find Benefit’s Silky Finish lipsticks are moisturizing, lightweight, and comfortable to wear.

Is this the right berry for you? Would you wear it?

The Sultry Season is a series of posts featuring deep, rich shades of brown, berry, plum, and wine lipsticks and lipglosses — just right for autumn — that runs through October 2010.

Cle de Peau #114 Extra Silky Lipstick
Cle de Peau #114 Extra Silky Lipstick

The Sultry Season: Cle de Peau #114 Extra Silky Lipstick

Cle de Peau #114Extra Silky Lipstick ($52.00 for 0.07 oz.) was almost too light to include in the Sultry Season, but I just couldn’t resist.  It’s this perfect shade of darkened coral that works well in the fall.  It lacks the typical brightness of a lot of summer corals.  There’s this touch of brown that darkens it just enough so it’s a bit like the changing colors of the leaves to me.   I love the way Extra Silky Lipsticks wear:  ultra moisturizing, three to five hours of wear, and always flattering.  I haven’t met a shade that wouldn’t work on a variety of skin tones.

Is this the right coral/brown for you? Would you wear it?

Make Up For Ever #13 Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick

The Sultry Season: Make Up For Ever #13 Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick

Make Up For Ever #13 Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick ($19.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a gorgeous berried red with ruby and raspberry shimmer.  It has rich, nearly opaque color, and it wears phenomenally.  This is a color that you can put on and forget about for hours–I get five hours of really nice wear out of this shade.   It has nice pigmentation without being heavy or thick, and though it’s not drying, it clings to lips a bit (but in a good way, I swear!).   #13 is a fitting shade for both fall and winter making it one multi-tasking lipstick!

Is this the right red for you? Would you wear it?

Burberry Blush Lipstick
Burberry Blush Lipstick

Burberry Blush (09) Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a pretty-in-pink touched by coral with very subtle gold micro-shimmer and mostly opaque color coverage.   It has a lovely creamy texture and a slightly glossy look. I find Burberry’s formula fairling moisturizing and long-wearing–about four hours with this shade–and comfortable to wear.

I think this is an incredibly flattering shade–it’s not too warm or cool, it’s just that right shade that will work for a variety of skin tones.   On those with pinker lips, it will turn a beautiful shade of rose, and on my lips, that hint of coral seems to strengthen than when just swatched on the skin.  The lipstick is rose-scented, though, so those with sensitive sniffers beware! I don’t really sense any taste, though. :)

If you want to know more about how products are evaluated, read out Rating System FAQ! :)

  • Product: 29/30
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

RECOMMENDATION: Burberry’s new lipsticks are a nice option for those with drier or more needy lips, because the formula wears well without drying lips out.  This particular shade will complement a lot of skin tones because of its more neutral undertones.
