Dior Diorama, Ever Dior, Cosmic Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss

Dior Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss ($30.00 for 0.21 fl. oz.) was recently reformulated and released in several shades, some familiar from past formulations (Dior seems to update their lip ranges every couple of years). The formula is supposed to be sheer, hydrating, glossy, and plumping using “hyaluronic acid spheres that capture and retain surrounding water … [so lips] appear full with lasting moisture.” I can’t really tell the difference between this formula and past ones in the range; it’s a semi-sheer to semi-opaque formula (from what shades I bought) with a very smooth, lightweight texture that is comfortable to wear, lightly hydrating, and shiny. The non-sticky texture and smooth, gel-like feel are the two highlights of the formula, as they’re just easy to wear and throw on. The formula wore between three and four hours for me. I didn’t notice any scent or taste. They come in three types–sparkling, watery, and iridescent–with varying levels of shimmer and color.

Tarte Double Tap, Goals, Snap Tarteist Glossy Lip Paints

Tarte Double Tap Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint ($20.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “cool mauve.” It’s a muted, medium-dark warm rosy brown with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation with a creamy, spreadable texture that was very comfortable to wear and lightly hydrating. The only downside was some of the color gathered in lip lines, though I didn’t find it too noticeable from a normal viewing distance. MAC Anything But Demure (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Tarte Snap (P, $20.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC It's a Strike (LE, $20.00) is lighter, less pigmented (90% similar). MAC Deelight (P, $20.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Anastasia Vintage (P) is lighter, brighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Tarte Hella, Obvi, Slay Tarteist Glossy Lip Paints

Tarte Hella Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint ($20.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “white nude.” It’s a light, warm peach with a cream finish. This was one of the worst shades in the range, as it was uneven and tended to gather in lip lines, so it just didn’t look as smooth applied. It had good color payoff, lasted for three hours, and was hydrating. Too Faced Naked Dolly (LE) is darker, more muted, less pigmented (90% similar). NARS Unlaced (P, $26.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Innocent (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, less pigmented (90% similar). Maybelline Life's a Peach (P, $4.49) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Laura Mercier Bare Baby (P, $25.00) is more shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (85% similar). MAC Lap Dog (LE, $22.00) is darker, more muted, less pigmented (85% similar). Anastasia Dainty (P) is darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Tarte Fave, Poison, WCW Tarteist Glossy Lip Paints

Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint ($20.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is supposed to be “pigmented” with a “glossy” and “non-sticky” finish and have a hydrating formula to back it up. There are nine shades available, and it is a new, permanent formula. The consistency is light-medium in weight–more gel-like with a very smooth, lightly creamy texture. It’s more like a gloss than merely a liquid lipstick, so it has a glossier finish overall. Most of the shades were semi-opaque to fully opaque, and even the darker shades applied evenly for the most part (that was a surprise!). They’re comfortable to wear, lightly hydrating, and non-sticky over time. The wear varied between three to five hours for me. I didn’t notice any scent or taste when testing these.

MAC Tattoo My Heart, Truly Everlasting, Forever Darling Versicolour Stains

MAC Tattoo My Heart Versicolour Lip Stain ($24.00 for 0.28 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright pinky coral.” It’s a medium, orange-coral with warm undertones that gets rosier when it “sets” on the lips. The texture was thin, watery and developed into a slightly thicker, more gel-like consistency after a minute or two. It was unforgiving, though, as the gloss gathered in lip lines. It had mostly opaque coverage and lasted for six hours. It was somewhat drying. MAC Never Say Never (LE, $20.00) is darker (95% similar). Chanel Super Coral (157) (LE, $34.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Drawn in Chic (LE, $15.00) is lighter (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Paint It (202) (DC, $28.00) is brighter (90% similar). NARS Paris Follies (LE, $26.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Hourglass Nectar (P, $28.00) is darker (90% similar). Dior Magique (479) (P, $35.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (85% similar). Dior Tropiques (379) (P, $35.00) is cooler (85% similar). Illamasqua Mistress (P, $22.00) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). Anastasia Maui (P) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). Dior Rieuse (373) (P, $35.00) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). Revlon Papaya (P, $7.49) is more shimmery (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
