Make Up For Ever 207, 500, 501 Artist Plexi-Glosses

Make Up For Ever 207 Candy Pink Artist Plexi-Gloss ($19.00 for 0.23 fl. oz.) is a brightened, medium fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a cream finish. The consistency was light-medium and tacky. It went on somewhat evenly with semi-opaque coverage. It was neither drying nor hydrating, but it wore well for five hours on me. Bite Beauty Eleven (Watercolor) (LE) is similar. Urban Decay Scandal (P, $22.00) is slightly darker, more opaque. Estee Lauder Rosy Future (LE, $26.00) is similar. Revlon HD Tourmaline (510) (P, $8.99) is lighter, brighter. NYX Sugar Cookie (P, $5.00) is similar. NARS Priscilla (P, $26.00) is darker. MAC Style Packed (LE, $15.00) is lighter. MAC Silly (LE, $15.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

MAC Wash & Dry Lipglasses

MAC Domestic Diva Lipglass ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “frosty watery pink.” It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned pink with a lot of multi-colored, fine shimmer. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage that went on evenly and smoothly. This shade wore well for almost five hours on me and was neither hydrating nor drying. MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus (LE, $15.00) is sheerer, cooler-toned. MAC Social Season (LE, $20.00) is less pigmented. MAC Astral (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery. Make Up For Ever 203P, 205P, 302P Artist Plexi-Glosses

Make Up For Ever 203P Golden Pink Artist Plexi-Gloss ($19.00 for 0.23 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a gloss with “vivid color and high-shine” that will wear for “five hours” with a non-sticky texture. It’s not a bad gloss formula, as far as glosses go, but it doesn’t really deliver on its promises of “vivid color,” as many of shades I’ve tried (nine) are more semi-sheer to semi-opaque. I haven’t worn all of them yet, but I have tested these three, which I found to be longer-wearing than the average gloss, but they are tacky with a light-medium weight to them. I felt like not enough product was pulled onto the applicator each time the wand was pulled out of the tube, and the applicator is interesting, but I don’t think it applied better (or worse) than the traditional doe-foot. The split-tipped applicator is more spongy and pliable, so those with more curved lips may find it easier to use than traditional applicators. I didn’t notice any scent or taste with this formula.

Marc Jacobs Whip It, Love Drunk, Pink Steam Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer

Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is supposed to have “maximum color and brilliance” and “shine like ’30 coats of lacquer.'” The formula has a mint scent but not much flavor from what I could detect. The biggest downside is that several shades that I have are not in line with “maximum color.” It has a light-medium weight with a smooth, creamy consistency that has a light tackiness, but it isn’t particularly sticky and doesn’t seem to get tackier as it wears on. It has a high-shine finish and is comfortable to wear as it is lightly hydrating. I think the Lust for Lacquer formula was better, as it went on more smoothly and the full coverage part of the formula was more likely to be true.

Urban Decay 69, Assassin, Brickhouse Revolution High-Color Lipglosses

Urban Decay 69 Revolution High-Color Lipgloss ($22.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright red.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark red with cool, blue undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. The consistency was light-medium in weight with a smooth, almost gel-like feel that spread easily across the lips. It developed tackiness as it wore on, and it was moderately tacky by the end of wear. The color had semi-opaque coverage that went on evenly overall, and it lasted for five and a half hours with some hydration. Urban Decay Brickhouse (P, $22.00) is darker, warmer. MAC Victoriana (LE, $15.00) is similar. MAC Carmine Rouge (LE, $30.00) is lighter. MAC Ruby Woo (LE, $15.00) is darker. NARS Burning Love (LE, $26.00) is more muted. Guerlain Rouge Parade (920) (LE, $30.00) is similar. MAC RiRi Woo (LE, $15.00) is slightly darker. MAC Russian Red (P, $15.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Urban Decay Punch Drunk & Quiver Revolution High-Color Lipglosses

Urban Decay Punch Drunk Revolution High-Color Lipgloss ($22.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright orange.” It’s a bold, brightened, medium orange-red with warm undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had mostly opaque color payoff, though there was still some translucency to it so the natural lip color will peek through (I could see it turning redder on some as a result). It went on smoothly and evenly, and the gloss wore well for almost six hours and was lightly hydrating over time. NARS Wonder (P, $26.00) is sheerer, lighter. MAC Teen Dream (LE, $20.00) is less glossy, lighter. MAC Morange (LE, $15.00) is lighter. MAC Knockout (LE, $15.00) is similar. MAC Eclectic Edge (LE, $15.00) is lighter, more shimmery. MAC Ablaze (LE, $15.00) is similar. Illamasqua Temper (P, $22.00) is similar. Guerlain Tangerine Vlam (P, $30.00) is less red. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
