Cle de Peau Pewter Veil (311) Eyeshadow Quad

Cle de Peau Pewter Veil (311) Eyeshadow Quad
Cle de Peau Pewter Veil (311) Eyeshadow Quad

Cle de Peau Pewter Veil (311) Eyeshadow Quad ($55.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a set of cooler-toned shades in hues of blue-teal, dark gray, pewter, and bright silver. Not particularly enamored with this quad, as each shade has some sort of issue, and at this price point, it becomes hard to justify or excuse the downsides.

Note: I purchased the refill pan only without the compact, and should you want the compact, it will run you $25 on top of the $55 price. I’m not really into packaging these days, so I prefer to pop a magnet on the back and store in freestyle palettes (like Z Palettes).

Pewter Veil #1 is a muted, medium-dark blue-teal with cool undertones and a frosted finish. It had good pigmentation but a slightly dusty consistency that felt a smidgen drier and was more troublesome to work with. The color didn’t go on as evenly nor did it blend out as easily as most Cle de Peau shades to. This shade started to fade noticeably after seven hours of wear. theBalm Open to Offers Olwen (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Clinique Aqua Pop (P, $17.00) is lighter (90% similar). Fyrinnae Sleepy Hollow (P, $6.75) is darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Fringe (DC, $19.00) is brighter (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty The Night Owl #5 (P, ) is warmer (90% similar). Smashbox Pacific (LE, ) is darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Teal Appeal (P, $16.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Colour Pop Hydroplane (LE, $5.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Urban Decay Fringe (P, ) is lighter (85% similar). MAC Blue Karma (LE, $22.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Pewter Veil #2 is a medium-dark charcoal gray with cool undertones and a sparkling, frosted sheen. It had mostly opaque color payoff, but the texture was dry and a little dusty to work with. I had some sparkle fall out over time, even though the base color lasted for seven hours. NARS Bad Behaviour (LE, $25.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay Granite (P, $20.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Stila Black Diamond (P, ) is darker (90% similar). theBalm Surf's Up (LE, $16.00) is warmer (90% similar). Kat Von D Black No. 1 (P, $21.00) is warmer (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty The Enigma #2 (P, ) is darker (90% similar). Cle de Peau Les Annees Folles #4 (LE, ) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Say It Isn't So (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). CoverGirl Charcoal (335) (P, $4.99) is cooler (85% similar). MAC Graphic Style (LE, $16.00) is cooler (85% similar). Gucci Beauty Cosmic Deco #3 (P, ) is darker (85% similar). Stila Black Pearl (LE, $18.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Makeup Geek Galaxy (P, $6.00) is darker (85% similar). Viseart Diane (P, ) is less shimmery, darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Pewter Veil #3 is a light pewter with subtle, cooler undertones paired with warmer shimmer. The color coverage was mostly opaque, while the texture was soft, smooth, and blendable. It was the best-performing shade of the four. On me, it wore well for seven and a half hours. Lancome Joie (P, $19.00) is more shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Guerlain Two Stylish #1 (P, ) is cooler (95% similar). Make Up For Ever D552 Crystalline Gray Beige (P, $21.00) is warmer (95% similar). Giorgio Armani #19 (LE, $33.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Fly by Twilight (LE, $20.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Arctic Grey (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). LORAC French Toast (LE, $19.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). MAC Palladium (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Kat Von D Telepathy (P, ) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Viseart Bijoux Royal #1 (LE, ) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Dior Etoile (021) (P, $31.00) is darker (90% similar). Hourglass Graphite #5 (P, ) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Giorgio Armani #1 Spring 2012 #4 (LE, ) is cooler (90% similar). bareMinerals Golden Pear (LE, $14.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). NARS Lost Coast #1 (LE, $25.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). NARS Antares (P, $29.00) is lighter, cooler (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Pewter Veil #4 is a bright, sparkling silvery-white with a frosted sheen. The texture was a little looser, so the color separated more when applied to the skin, which sheered out the coverage and had fall out as the sparkles didn’t bind with the powder as well. It wore well for seven hours but had some fall out. MAC Filament (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Sephora Ice (LE, ) is less pigmented (95% similar). Lancome Tower Bridge (LE, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Treasure Me (LE, $20.00) is cooler (95% similar). Sephora + Pantone Universe Nimbus Cloude (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). Tarina Tarantino Lovely #1 (P, ) is less shimmery (90% similar). theBalm #34 (P, $6.50) is less shimmery (90% similar). BH Cosmetics Club Tropicana #11 (LE, ) is darker (80% similar). Cle de Peau Golden Lace (313) Eyeshadow Quad

Cle de Peau Golden Lace (313) Eyeshadow Quad
Cle de Peau Golden Lace (313) Eyeshadow Quad

Cle de Peau Golden Lace (313) Eyeshadow Quad ($55.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a set of warmer neutrals. The strength of Cle de Peau’s eyeshadow formula is in how soft, silky, and smooth they typically are, so they blend out easily and sit nicely on the eyelid without looking powdery or dusty. They also seem to “melt” against the skin after an hour for a really luminous sheen. This one has a sparkly shade in it, which gave me some trouble as it was looser and had a little fall out, but all told, the four shades were easy to apply, were fairly pigmented, and lasted seven to eight hours.

Note: I purchased the refill pan only without the compact, and should you want the compact, it will run you $25 on top of the $55 price. I’m not really into packaging these days, so I prefer to pop a magnet on the back and store in freestyle palettes (like Z Palettes).

Golden Lace #1 is a medium-dark plum with warm undertones and lighter purple shimmer that gives it a pearly sheen. It had good pigmentation with a soft, lightly powdery consistency that blended out well and didn’t look dry on the skin. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading. Smashbox Eggplant (LE, ) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Dior Capital of Light #5 (LE, ) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Stila Plum (LE, $18.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Make Up For Ever S832 Ash Plum (P, $21.00) is warmer (90% similar). Smashbox Headline (P, ) is more shimmery, darker, cooler (90% similar). Guerlain Boulevard du Montparnasse #6 (LE, ) is cooler (90% similar). Sephora Girlish Appeal (LE, ) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Tarte Show Plum Love (LE, ) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Too Faced Jammin' (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Dior Olympe (871) (LE, $31.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Mauve Over (LE, $16.00) is lighter (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Seductive Rose #4 (P, ) is brighter, warmer (85% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Overlook (P, $14.00) is more shimmery, cooler (85% similar). MAC Dark Lullaby (LE, $23.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Disney by Sephora Master (LE, ) is darker (85% similar). Smashbox Cabernet (LE, ) is cooler (85% similar). Chanel Delicatesse #4 (LE, ) is warmer (85% similar). MAC Oh My Mocha! (P, $16.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Golden Lace #2 is a slightly muted, medium orange within brown tones and a frosted sheen. It had nice color payoff with a soft, smooth, and blendable consistency that applied well to the skin. This shade stayed on for eight hours before fading. Sephora Fall Leaves (P, $10.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Mortal #2 (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). NARS St-Paul-de-Vence (Left) (LE, $25.00) is brighter (90% similar). Chanel Tisse Vendome #3 (P, ) is brighter (90% similar). Gucci Beauty Autumn Fire #1 (P, ) is warmer (85% similar). Colour Pop Play (DC, $5.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Urban Decay Easy Baked (P, $19.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Golden Lace #3 is a light, peachy-beige with warm undertones and a sparkling finish. There is fine sparkle in this shade, which didn’t seem to make it rough or gritty, but the texture had a slightly looser consistency compared to other shades, which made it prone to sheering out on the skin. It had semi-opaque coverage that wasn’t buildable to opaque coverage without a primer to adhere to. It lasted for seven and a half hours with slight fall out. Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy (P, $19.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Chanel Tisse Rivoli #2 (P, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). Tarte Glitter Glue (LE, ) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Just Gleaming (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Cle de Peau Marmalade Sky #2 (P, ) is cooler (95% similar). Make Up For Ever D716 Crystalline Papaya (P, $21.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Anastasia Vermeer (P, $12.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Surratt Beauty Soie (P, $20.00) is darker (90% similar). Chanel Tisse Vendome #2 (P, ) is warmer (90% similar). LORAC Almond Pearl (P, $19.00) is warmer (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Fallen Angel #1 (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Viseart Kifu (P, ) is less shimmery (90% similar). Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma (P, $6.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Vanilla Diamond (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Kat Von D Sterling (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury The Rebel #1 (P, ) is warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Opale (LE, $45.00) is warmer (90% similar). Givenchy Tentation #4 (P, ) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Phresh Out #1 (LE, ) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Diamond Butterfly (LE, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Golden Lace #4 is a light-medium, yellow gold with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It had stronger yellow tones than a true gold, which gave it a slightly “cooler” appearance compared to many golds. I think that actually helps it work with this palette, which runs pretty warm otherwise. The texture was silky and smooth, which made blending an easy job, and the color pigmentation was opaque. This shade wore well for eight hours before creasing slightly. Tarte Mermaid (LE, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). Persona Goal Digger (P, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Fool's Gold (LE, $16.00) is darker (95% similar). NARS Studly (LE, $29.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Colour Pop Butter Cake (LE, $5.00) is more shimmery, cooler (95% similar). Kat Von D Piaf + Poe Shade + Light Blush Duo

Kat Von D Piaf + Poe Shade + Light Blush Duo
Kat Von D Piaf + Poe Shade + Light Blush Duo

Kat Von D Piaf + Poe Shade + Light Blush Duo ($25.00 for 0.317 oz.) is a muted, rosy pink set of shades, one lighter and one darker. The blush formula is supposed to “stay vibrant for a full 24 hours of wear” with “silky powders” that “blend effortlessly into skin for a flawless, buildable finish.” The marketing makes it unclear what level of pigmentation these should be on Sephora, but per the brand’s Instagram, they are “highly pigmented.” I think that this particular duo was one of the better-applying shades and required slightly less effort to apply, but it still had a drier, chalkier consistency that made it hard to get more than semi-sheer color out of it. That drier texture seemed to give me trouble when blending, as the color would stick on some places more noticeably than others, but it would be hard to diffuse or blend, even when I reached for a really dense, buffing brush. The blush is actually easier to use when mixed, because the more powdery (but less chalky) consistency of the light shade helps the darker shade to blend out, while the darker color gives a little more oomph to the color overall such that it is easier to see on more complexions.

From previous review(s): The packaging had issues (across all seven): 1) two of seven compacts had pans that fell out of the plastic compact; 2) the remaining five had loose pans that wobbled and moved (some more than others) within the compact; and 3) all seven were covered in blush residue (not sure why, nothing was broken).

Piaf (Shade) is described as a “chestnut rose.” It’s a soft, medium coral-rose with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had sheer coverage, which was buildable to semi-sheer after three layers. The texture was moderately dry and a little chalky, as the powder came off the surface but felt firm, and the loose powder seemed to clump together in a way. It could have been easier to work with and blend, and it was hard to eliminate all patchiness both times I applied (once for photos, once to wear). It started to fade noticeably after seven and a half hours. Estee Lauder Lover's Blush (P, $34.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). NARS Day Dream (LE, $30.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Becca Wisteria (LE, $32.00) is darker, more pigmented, cooler (90% similar). NARS Blasphemy (LE, $30.00) is cooler (90% similar). Hourglass Radiant Magenta (P, $35.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). bareMinerals Golden Gate Matte (LE, $22.00) is more muted (90% similar). Urban Decay Fetish (P, $26.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC I'll Hold My Breath #2 (LE, ) is more shimmery, brighter (90% similar). Tarte Love (LE, $28.00) is cooler (85% similar). NYX Mauve (P, $5.00) is brighter, cooler (85% similar). Tarte Bashful (LE, $28.00) is more shimmery, darker (85% similar). Too Faced Stardust (LE, ) is darker, brighter (85% similar). Chanel Angelique (190) (P, $45.00) is darker, brighter (85% similar). NYX Amber (P, $6.50) is darker, warmer (85% similar). bareMinerals Golden Gate (LE, $22.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Urban Decay Streak Blush (-, ) is brighter, warmer (85% similar). Tarte Exposed (P, $28.00) is darker, more muted (85% similar). Too Faced How Deep is Your Love? (P, $26.00) is darker, brighter (80% similar). MAC Sideshow You (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery, brighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Poe (Light) is described as a “soft peach.” It’s a light, pastel pink with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had sheer pigmentation that was buildable to semi-sheer. It was softer in the pan with less chalkiness (it is interesting how the lighter shades are easier to use, while the darker shades have a drier, chalkier feel) that made it easier to apply to the skin. I had only a little trouble getting this one to blend out, though it is one of the harder-to-apply blushes I’ve tried in this color family. The color started to disappear after seven and a half hours. MAC What I Fancy (LE, $22.00) is warmer (95% similar). KIKO 109 Candy Rose (P, $12.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Lesson in Love (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Zoeva Gentle Touch (P, $11.80) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Launch Away (LE, $22.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Lotus Blossom (LE, $40.00) is brighter (90% similar). NARS Myth (LE, $30.00) is lighter (90% similar). Dior Intemporalle (LE, $65.00) is lighter (90% similar). Makeup Geek Spell Bound (P, $10.00) is darker (85% similar). Chanel Sakura (87) (LE, $45.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Makeup Geek Spell Bound (P, $9.99) is more shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Too Faced Sweet Pink (LE, ) is more shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar). Kat Von D Mallory (Light) (P, ) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Kat Von D Bonnie + Clyde Shade + Light Blush Duo

Kat Von D Bonnie + Clyde Shade + Light Blush Duo
Kat Von D Bonnie + Clyde Shade + Light Blush Duo

Kat Von D Bonnie + Clyde Shade + Light Blush Duo ($25.00 for 0.317 oz.) features a cool-toned set of shades in a very light pink and a darker pink. The blush formula is supposed to “stay vibrant for a full 24 hours of wear” with “silky powders” that “blend effortlessly into skin for a flawless, buildable finish.” The texture of both shades left something to be desired as they were thin, chalky, and difficult to blend. The pigmentation is sheer and only buildable to semi-sheer after three to six layers of product. The marketing makes it unclear what level of pigmentation these should be on Sephora, but per the brand’s Instagram, they are “highly pigmented.” These are some of the worst powders I’ve have ever tested from Kat Von D, and it’s a real disappointment–and a surprise–after the success of the Shade + Light palettes as well as her recent eyeshadows. Both shades lasted no longer than seven hours; not even in the realm of “full 24 hours of wear.”

Oh, and if being a spectacular miss of a product wasn’t enough frustration, the packaging had issues (across all seven): 1) two of seven compacts had pans that fell out of the plastic compact; 2) the remaining five had loose pans that wobbled and moved (some more than others) within the compact; and 3) all seven were covered in blush residue (not sure why, nothing was broken).

Bonnie (Shade) is described as an “ultra violet.” It’s a soft, medium-dark raspberry pink with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The texture was thin, chalky, and difficult to blend out on the skin as the consistency of the blush would stick in one place but not the other (and wouldn’t want to budge). Trying to build it up at all was extremely difficult; I was almost scraping the product off of the top in order to get enough color to show up on my skin tone. Please note, I am wearing FIVE layers of this product to get it to show up on my face. It was faded and even patchier in appearance after seven hours of wear. MAC Pink Tea (LE, $22.00) is darker (95% similar). Chanel Pink Explosion (LE, $45.00) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). Too Faced Skyline (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). Edward Bess Bed of Roses (P, $43.00) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). Stila Pink Rose Blush (LE, ) is brighter, warmer (85% similar). Colour Pop Mochi (DC, $8.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (85% similar). NYX Bourgeois Pig (P, $5.00) is darker, brighter, warmer (85% similar). Colour Pop Hysterical (LE, $8.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Makeup Geek Hanky Panky (P, $9.99) is brighter (85% similar). Urban Decay Naked on the Run Blush (-, ) is brighter (85% similar). Sephora Love Sick (22) (P, $14.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Clyde (Light) is described as a “lilac.” It’s a light lavender with pink tones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer color payoff with a thin, powdery consistency that wasn’t quite as dry or as chalky as the darker shade (this is true of most of the duos). It was easier to blend as well, though it wasn’t foolproof. The matte finish and light color seems to make it the kind of blush that does darken slightly on the skin compared to how light it appears in the pan. It was noticeably faded after seven hours. Kat Von D Gomez (Light) (P, ) is darker (95% similar). Hourglass Ethereal Glow (P, $35.00) is lighter, warmer (95% similar). NARS Threesome (LE, $30.00) is warmer (95% similar). Makeup Geek Promise Ring (P, $10.00) is darker (95% similar). Makeup Geek First Love (P, $9.99) is lighter (90% similar). Guerlain Carousel (LE, $74.00) is less pigmented (90% similar). NARS Cheek Studio I (LE, $30.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). NARS Sex Fantasy (LE, $30.00) is darker (90% similar). Surratt Beauty Guimauve (P, $32.00) is more shimmery, darker (85% similar). NYX Pastel Chic (P, $6.50) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Stila Light Pink (LE, ) is darker (85% similar). Sephora + Pantone Universe Modern Watercolors Eyeshadow Palette

Sephora + Pantone Universe Modern Watercolors Eyeshadow Palette
Sephora + Pantone Universe Modern Watercolors Eyeshadow Palette

Sephora + Pantone Universe Modern Watercolors Eyeshadow Palette ($39.00 for 0.72 oz.) includes 24 eyeshadows in various pastel hues. It’s a new, limited edition palette created for the Color of the Year collection (which features two colors, Rose Quartz and Serenity). While it’s interesting, and there are plenty of shades that we don’t see all that often in it, the performance leaves a lot to be desired. The shimmers tended to be the better performers, while the lighter mattes were the more disappointing shades. In general, the formula is dusty, dry, or powdery (and sometimes chalky, due to some shades having a stronger white base), which in turn results in the eyeshadow sheering out or applying unevenly. The wear was five to six hours with the majority of shades. I’ve had better luck with past iterations of this collaboration, but this was a miss for me. Sephora said that it was supposed to include the Sephora Collection’s “high performance formulas” that had “rich color payoff” and a “luxurious feel,” plus “long-wear,” but nothing about these reminds me of their single eyeshadow range at all.

BOTTOM LINE: There are a lot of fun shades in the palette, but it’s really only functional over a creamy, white base (like NYX Milk) in order to get the eyeshadows to pop, apply evenly, and blend nicely. I find regular primer is typically too thin and doesn’t do enough for the intensity unless it is a thicker, more cream-like primer, but something very light or white is still the best way to go.

Bright White is a bright white with a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a soft, fairly smooth texture that applied decently. It lasted for six and a half hours on me. Sephora Starlight (LE, )(100% similar). Sephora Porcelain (LE, ) is cooler (95% similar). Inglot #373 (P, $6.00) is brighter (95% similar). Kat Von D Por Vida (LE, ) is brighter (95% similar). Kat Von D Skull (LE, )(100% similar). LORAC Tails & Top Hats #1 (LE, $19.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). LORAC White (P, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Kat Von D Banshee (LE, ) is darker (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Rose Quartz is a pale pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation but was a little powdery, so it tended to apply unevenly on the lid. I think a regular primer would improve the application (a white base won’t bring out the color that much, since it is already quite light). It wore well for six hours. Pretty Vulgar Tweet (P, ) is darker (95% similar). bareMinerals Aaah (LE, ) is darker (95% similar). Urban Decay Studio (LE, $19.00) is lighter, cooler (95% similar). LORAC Pink Cream (LE, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Pale, Please (LE, $16.00) is darker, more muted (95% similar). Urban Decay Truth (LE, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). L'Oreal Mademoiselle Pink (P, $5.99) is brighter (95% similar). Jouer Petal (P, ) is darker (95% similar). Tarte Palace of Versaille (LE, ) is darker (95% similar). Kat Von D Plum (Highlight) (P, ) is cooler (90% similar). Dior House of Pinks #2 (LE, ) is darker (90% similar). Tarte Vintage (P, ) is lighter (90% similar). Lancome My French #1 (LE, ) is darker (90% similar). Inglot #356 (P, $6.00) is darker (90% similar). Too Faced Bee Sweet (LE, $16.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty The Lover #1 (LE, ) is cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Powdered Sugar (LE, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC The Wrong Man (LE, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette

Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette
Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette

Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette ($45.00 for 0.54 oz.) includes six shades of blushes from a pop of pink to a matte bronze. The Afterglow formula is supposed to last for eight hours, sheer coverage. The funny thing about the Afterglow formula is that I don’t really think it’s sheer; it’s more of a medium, buildable coverage formula, which I imagine is something that a lot of people like about it, but just keep in mind that that is how pigmentation is judged from: sheer coverage. The products performed well overall with the only “flaw” being that pigmentation tended to be semi-opaque to opaque rather than sheer. The palette contains $61.04 worth of Afterglow blush.

Cherry is described as a “light pink satin.” It’s a light, cool-toned pink with a soft, pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer coverage with a blendable consistency that was a smidgen powdery to work with. It seems to darken slightly applied compared to how it appears in the pan. This shade wore for seven hours on me. Burberry London With Love (LE, $68.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). MAC Lazy Sunday (P, $22.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC First Waves (LE, $33.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Smashbox Prism (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). Makeup Geek Head Over Heels (P, $9.99) is less shimmery, darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Easy is described as a “deep rose with gold shimmer.” It’s a muted, medium-dark rosy plum with cooler undertones paired with warm, gold frost. It had semi-opaque color payoff (it’s not what I’d call sheer!) that blended out nicely on the skin without emphasizing pores. This shade wore well for eight hours. Tarte Embraced (LE, $28.00) is cooler (90% similar). CoverGirl Deep Mauve (P, $9.99) is less shimmery, darker, brighter (90% similar). Clinique Heather Pop (P, $21.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Angel is described as a “champagne-nude shimmer.” It’s a light-medium, golden champagne with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It had good pigmentation–not sheer–with a smooth, blendable texture that didn’t emphasize pores when applied. On my skin tone, this is a highlighter and not a blush, for reference, but on very fair skin tones, it may act as a highlighting blush (and add warmth without adding orange tones). It wore well for eight hours before fading. theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer (P, $24.00) is lighter (95% similar). Dior Glowing Nude (002) (LE, $58.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Lo-Fi is described as a “soft bronze matte.” It’s a soft, medium brown with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer coverage, and the texture of this one was firmer and thinner–a little dusty in a way–and didn’t blend out as well on the skin as the Afterglow formula typically does. Hush is described as a “medium pink with gold shimmer.” It’s a light-medium, rosy copper with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had semi-sheer, buildable coverage with a soft, smooth, and slightly powdery texture as the powder was so soft that it kind of crumbled at the touch of a brush. It tended to sheer out a lot applied, so sustained coverage was difficult unless applied over damp foundation or with a slightly dampened brush. On me, the color lasted for eight hours. Le Metier de Beaute Whisper (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Benefit CORALista (Palette) (P, $29.00) is warmer (90% similar). OC is described as a “soft pink with peach shift.” It’s a light-medium, yellowed peach with warm undertones and a pink duochrome shift paired with a satiny sheen. It had semi-sheer color payoff that was buildable to medium coverage. This one will be interesting to see how readers enjoy it, as it looks like a green-leaning yellow straight on, but when it catches the light, you get the pink shift, which is lovely, but it doesn’t always look that way. It lasted for eight hours on me. It reminded me a lot of a long-ago MAC Blush, Spaced Out, which was so long ago that I don’t have a regular swatch of it. Anastasia Hard Candy (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (95% similar). Makeup Geek Mai Tai (P, $6.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Fireball (P, $19.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Colour Pop Highly Waisted (P, $8.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Fireball (P, $26.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). MAC Motif (P, $16.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
