New for October, bareMinerals The Enlightenment Eyeshadow Duo ($20.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a neutral-hued compact that features Guru and Namaste. Bare Escentuals’ pressed eyeshadow formula contains SeaNutritive Mineral Complex that gives the shadow a “creamy, silky smooth” texture with “seamless blendability” and “stay-true color.” It’s supposed to be long-wearing whether worn alone or with primer–you shouldn’t see any creasing or fading. I’ve tested various combinations of shades from the duos and quads, and I’ve happily achieved ten hours of solid wear without a primer underneath. For a review of the packaging, please read my original review.
bareMinerals The Afterparty Eyeshadow Quad ($30.00 for 0.17 oz.) contains four shades: Cheers, Mingle, Rowdy, and Lights Down. This quad launches in October, and it’s touted as a solid eyeshadow with SeaNutritive Mineral Complex that is “creamy, silky smooth” with “seamless blendability” and “stay-true color” that is long-wearing when worn alone without creasing or budging. When worn alone, I was able to wear several of the new duos (which have the same formula for pressed eyeshadows) for 10 hours without an eyeshadow primer. MAC Seaside Cream Colour Base ($17.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “soft peach rose.” It has a very warm, slightly bronzed look to it with a hint of peach–the rose is very, very subtle. I can see some using this as a highlighter, and I think it will work particularly well on darker skin tones as such. It has more of a sheen than shimmer to its finish, and it can easily be blended out for a glowy sheen on cheeks. It’s rosier than MAC Peachtwist but has a lot more shimmer than Burberry Russet.
There are six shades of MAC Eyeshadow ($15.00 for 0.05 oz.) launched with MAC Me Over. They include: Carbonized (frosty dark brown), Creamy Bisque (mid-tone ivory with pearlized pigments), Moleskin (nude brown), Mythical (frosty copper red), Outre (mid-tone mustard), and Satin Taupe (taupe with silver shimmer).
MAC Shadesticks ($17.50 for 0.05 oz.) may have been discontinued from the permanent range, but occasionally, MAC brings them back for a limited edition stint. MAC Me Over includes five shades: Butternutty (frosted light neutral), Cakeshop (frosted pewter), Heirloom (light icy pink), Street Cool (mid-tone grey violet taupe), and Tundra (icy silver).
MAC Evil Eye Eyeshadow Quad ($38.00 for 0.19 oz.) is a limited edition set of four shades of rather cool-toned colors. It features Palace Pedigreed (deep berry with soft pink), Spellcaster (blackened violet), Evil Eye (deep yellow grey), and Moody (blackened green).
