Dior Aventure (081) & Cosmos (281) Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadows

Dior Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadows ($30.00 for 0.22 oz.) were recently released, and they come in a total of eight shades. The new Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow formula is supposed to have a mousse-gel texture “that easily glides onto lids and sets with a mirror-shine effect.” It is supposed to have “vivid, multidiemsnional color and luminous finish.” The formula also provides for a “three-in-one makeup look,” which means it can be applied softly when used with a finger, more intensely when applied with a brush, and then used with a liner brush as an eyeliner (so says the press release). I bought four initially and have been working with them over the past week, and on Friday, I received the remaining four, so I hope to have reviews for all of them available soon.

CoverGirl Gold Flame (330) & Ice Flame (345) Flamed Out Shadow Pencils

CoverGirl Gold Flame (330) Flamed Out Shadow Pencil ($7.99 for 0.08 oz.) is a warm, yellow gold with a pearly sheen. It’s not too frosted, but it’s more shimmery than a satin finish. It had fairly good color payoff in a single stroke and was buildable to mostly opaque color; it did need some light blending (with a finger tip or a fluffy brush) to even out some of the color on the lid, but overall it was nice. It wore well for seven and a half hours and was lightly creased after eight hours of wear. CoverGirl Melted Gold is similar but a powder. Disney Triton is similar, slightly warmer, powder. Chanel Cool Gold is darker. Sephora French Riviera is lighter, powder. MAC Goldmine is warmer. Giorgio Armani #1 Spring 2012 #3 is similar. Chanel Pearl River #3 is similar. OCC Acacia is cooler-toned. bareMinerals Remix is similar. Make Up For Ever #10 is similar but a powder. See comparison swatches.

Chanel Convoitise (90) Illusion d’Ombre Eyeshadow ($36.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a softly warmed-up, pale gold with a frosted, slightly metallic, finish. It has hints of yellow, but it’s not a strong, true yellow gold–it is muted and not quite neutral but close. MAC Greenluxe #2 is more metallic. Disney Charming is lighter. Disney Sand in the Glass is less shimmery. Giorgio Armani #18 is similar. NARS Hollywoodland is darker. MAC Retrospeck is similar. L’Oreal Eternal Sunshine is darker, yellower. Lancome Eternal Gold is darker, yellower. Chane lApparence is a bit darker. See comparison swatches.

Chanel Pink Lagoon Stylo Eyeshadow

Chanel Pink Lagoon Stylo Eyeshadow ($34.00 for 0.05 oz.) is warm, medium pink with a frosted finish. It almost reads coral-pink against my warmer complexion. MAC Rose is less shimmery, darker. Urban Decay Scratch is less pink. Inglot #359 is matte, lighter. See comparison swatches.

Chanel Moon River Stylo Eyeshadow

Chanel Moon River Stylo Eyeshadow
Chanel Moon River Stylo Eyeshadow

Chanel Moon River Stylo Eyeshadow ($34.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as “platinum.” It’s a metallic taupe with a champagne sheen. Urban Decay Mushroom is grayer. Urban Decay Midnight Rodeo is browner and a powder. Urban Decay Rehab is browner. MAC Antique Diamond is grayer. Guerlain Callipgraphy #2 is slightly grayer and a powder product. bareMinerals Magnetism is a powder eyeshadow but close in color. See comparison swatches.

Moon River has semi-sheer to semi-opaque color, depending on if you layer it. It delivered a “shimmering veil” of color just as Chanel described. It’s kind of long-wearing in some aspects, as it didn’t fade or crease on me, but I did substantial fall out of shimmering sparkles underneath my eyes. The consistency was very wet-like, cool to the touch, and creamy, so it glided on well and applied even color as it slid across the lid. Though it feels wet when applied, it doesn’t slip or slide around on the lid. Mine arrived broken at the tip, but the other two I purchased were fine, and Chanel has always been great about makeup returns based on my experience.
