Givenchy Blanc Satin, Bleu Soie, Gris Organza Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadows

Givenchy Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadow ($23.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a more recently released cream eyeshadow that’s supposed to be “creamy, waterproof, [and] long-lasting.” It’s a cream-to-powder formula, so it feels like a cream initially but dries down to a powder finish. Givenchy actually states that this lasts for 16 hours, which is quite a tall order. I reviewed three shades here, and I have a few more to share with you now.

Chanel Mirage, Utopia, New Moon Illusion d’Ombre Eyeshadows

Chanel Mirage (95) Illusion d’Ombre Eyeshadow ($36.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “bronze.” It’s a golden, medium-dark bronze with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had excellent color payoff, and the texture was lightly creamy, velvety, and easy to blend on the lid. This shade wore well for twelve hours before slightly fading. MAC Crushed Clove (P, $15.00) is lighter, powder. bareMinerals Hot Commodity (LE) is less metallic, powder. Too Faced Jingle All the Way Eyeshadow #4 (LE, $16.00) is lighter, powder. Too Faced Buttered Rum (LE, $16.00) is similar, powder. Chanel Initiation (827) (LE, $36.00) is more glittery but still similar in color. Maybelline Downtown Brown (P, $6.99) is similar, powder. Urban Decay Suspect (LE, $18.00) is lighter, powder. MAC Woodwinked (P, $15.00) is darker, powder. Benefit Thanks a Latte (P, $20.00) is lighter, powder. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Givenchy Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadow

Givenchy Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadow ($23.00 for 0.14 oz.) is supposed to be a “creamy, waterproof, long-lasting eyeshadow.” The formula says that it will last for 16-hours (!). The three shades wore around 12 hours well on me, which is good wear but not quite 16, before I saw some slight creasing. I did have some fall out with the more sparkly shades, which are deceptively matte-looking in the pots initially, but as soon as you disturb the top layer, you’ll see the sparkles. The pigmentation across all three shades was good, and the consistency was lightly creamy without being heavy or thick, but the colors spread evenly and smoothly over the lid.

Maybelline Dare to Go Nude Color Tattoo Eyeshadows

For spring, Maybelline released six limited edition shades (so says the display) of Color Tattoos in its Dare to Go Nude Collection. I’ve been trying to find these for a few weeks now, and by some miracle, I was able to find five of the shades. Unfortunately, I don’t have Stroke of Midnight (but you can see it swatched on Musings of a Muse for reference). Most of the stores I’ve visited haven’t even had displayers (empty or not), but a CVS about ten miles away did have a display that was only partially ravaged (many of the seals on lip products had been removed). It’s a real shame that these aren’t permanent, because they would be welcomed additions to the permanent range. Though in some ways, they might seem “boring” to some, they’re very core, basic shades. They reminded me a lot of Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow range in color selection as well as feel and finish–these all felt a little thinner than the original formula, a smidgen more emollient, but they applied and wore as well as the original shades do. As always, I’m not keen on actually wearing makeup for 24-hours, so I didn’t test any of these for a full 24-hours, but I tested all five for sixteen hours.

Dior Celeste, Fantasie, Mirage Fusion Mono Matte Eyeshadows

As I mentioned in my review for Nocturne and Rosee, Dior released four shades under the Fusion Mono Matte formula for spring. According to Dior, the new formula is “soft” (presumably sheer) when applied with fingertips and then “bold” (presumably pigmented) when using an applicator “to reveal pure matte color.” It’s an interesting formula; it has a much drier feel once applied, but it’s not actually dry. The consistency isn’t quite as emollient as the regular range, but it’s not stiff or difficult to work with. They do not sheer out as readily as the more shimmery shades, though. It almost seems like putty in the jar–you could just shape it however you’d like. If you have any natural dryness on your lid or around your eye area, the texture can be unforgiving and will catch onto some of that dryness. All three wore well for nine hours and had minor fading after ten hours of wear.
