MAC Nutcracker Sweet Peach Face Compact

MAC Nutcracker Sweet Peach Face Compact
MAC Nutcracker Sweet Peach Face Compact

MAC Nutcracker Sweet Peach Face Compact ($35.00 for 0.32 oz.) includes a powder highlighter and blush. The Extra Dimension Skinfinishes are supposed to have 10-hour wear, while the Extra Dimension Blush formula is supposed to have six-hour wear.

Tutu is a bright, very light beige with warm, peachy undertones and a metallic finish. It had excellent color payoff paired with a soft, smooth, finely-milled texture that wasn’t too firm or too loose in the pan. It seemed smoother than past iterations of this formula, though this color is new (and limited edition). The highlighter applied easily, blended out effortlessly, and lasted for eight hours on me. Even when worn heavily, I didn’t notice any emphasis of my skin’s natural texture with this shade. Anastasia Starlight (P, $28.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). LORAC Starlight (P, $22.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay Sin (P, $26.00) is darker (95% similar). Colour Pop Lunch Money (P, $8.00) is less shimmery, warmer (95% similar). Viseart Highlight #1 (P) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Catrice Champagne Campaign (P, $5.99) is less shimmery (90% similar). Colour Pop Smokin' Whistles (P, $8.00) is cooler (90% similar). At Dusk is a muted, medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. The texture was a bit firmer compared to the highlighter, but it wasn’t stiff or difficult to get color payoff out of. It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage that sat well on the skin, and the finish became more luminous as I buffed and blended the powder on my skin. It wore well for seven and a half hours before it started to fade. (This shade has been released before.) Edward Bess Filled with Desire (P, $43.00) is lighter, brighter (95% similar). Makeup Geek Main Squeeze (P, $10.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC The Perfect Cheek (LE, $22.00) is lighter (95% similar). Too Faced Tres Fab (LE) is brighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Nutcracker Sweet Copper Face Compact

MAC Nutcracker Sweet Copper Face Compact
MAC Nutcracker Sweet Copper Face Compact

MAC Nutcracker Sweet Copper Face Compact ($35.00 for 0.32 oz.) includes a powder highlighter and blush. Both shades are repromotes, though Whisper of Gilt is one of those shades that many wanted to make a return. The Extra Dimension Skinfinishes are supposed to have 10-hour wear, while the Extra Dimension Blush formula is supposed to have six-hour wear.

Whisper of Gilt is a brighter, light-medium gold with warm, yellow-orange undertones and a metallic sheen. It was richly pigmented with a soft, smooth, and finely-milled consistency; it actually felt smoother and less dry to the touch compared to the standalone version I have from the last release. The powder blended out better, and it was easier to get sheerer coverage, especially as I could use fan and feathery brushes with ease with the finer texture. The finish was more metallic when applied at medium or higher coverage, and it started to emphasize pores just slightly when worn at semi-opaque coverage. It wore well for eight hours on me. Looxi Beauty Centerfold (P, $7.50) is darker (95% similar). Anastasia Dripping in Gold (LE) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). Becca Prosecco Pop (LE, $38.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Laura Geller Gilded Honey (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, less pigmented, more muted (90% similar). Make Up For Ever #02 (P, $39.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay Angel (LE, $26.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). NARS Frenzy (Left) (P) is lighter (90% similar). Guerlain Terracotta Sun in the City Illuminating Powder (LE, $70.00) is darker (90% similar). Illamasqua Rush (P) is lighter (90% similar). NARS Jubilation (Left) (P) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Anastasia So Hollywood (P, $28.00) is more shimmery, lighter (95% similar). MAC Yellow Topaz (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Becca Champagne Pop (P, $38.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Pieno Sole (LE, $68.00) is darker (90% similar). Dior Glowing Nude (002) (LE, $58.00) is lighter (90% similar). LORAC Twilight (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). L'Oreal Golden (P, $12.99) is darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Oh, Darling! (LE, $30.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay Strip Highlighter (P) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Sephora Jubilant (21) (P, $14.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Pleasure Model is a medium-dark, coppery orange with warm undertones and a satin sheen. The pigmentation was great–full coverage–while the texture was smooth but firmer, so it was easier to control the intensity if you wanted sheerer coverage. It applied well to bare skin, as the finish became more satin-like as I blended and worked the product on my cheeks. The finish was natural and did not emphasize pores. On me, the blush wore for seven and a half hours before fading. This shade is a repromote, and it seemed slightly more muted this time around but overall similar in color and tone. Becca Songbird (P, $32.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Chanel Canaille (89) (LE, $45.00) is darker (90% similar). Makeup Geek Infatuation (P, $10.00) is less shimmery, lighter, more muted (90% similar). MAC Love Joy (P, $27.00) is less shimmery, more muted (90% similar). NARS Gina (P, $30.00) is lighter (90% similar). Becca Blushed Copper (LE, $38.00) is cooler (90% similar). NARS Unlawful (P, $30.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Colour Pop Non-Fiction (LE, $8.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Colour Pop Stryke (LE, $8.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Clinique Fig Pop (P, $21.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Coppertone (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Giorgio Armani No. 18 (P, $62.00) is less shimmery, less pigmented, cooler (90% similar). Chanel Jersey (80) (P, $45.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Bad Girl Gone Good (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery, more muted (90% similar). Illamasqua Expose (P, $26.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Make You Mine (P, $23.50) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Eternal Sun (P, $23.50) is more muted (85% similar). MAC Ambering Rose (P, $22.00) is more shimmery, darker, brighter (85% similar). NYX Bronzed (P, $6.50) is lighter, more muted, cooler (85% similar). Chanel Destiny (61) (DC, $38.00) is lighter, more muted (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

NARS Recurring Dare Cheek & Lip Palette

NARS Recurring Dare Cheek & Lip Palette
NARS Recurring Dare Cheek & Lip Palette

NARS Recurring Dare Cheek & Lip Palette ($59.00 for 0.56 oz.) includes four cheek colors plus lip pencil. This palette is exclusive to Nordstrom and will be available November 1st. The palette includes three permanent shades–Albatross, Sex Appeal, and Golshan–and two new shades–Illusive and Make Believe. As was the case with True Story, the palette skewed lighter and will work better for fairer skin tones. I wish this was deeper overall (so that the offerings had something lighter and something deeper to cater to more skin tones). I also felt like the two center shades were a little closer, just warmer, than the two center shades in True Story as well. NARS’ Powder Blush formula is described as “beautifully pigmented, natural, healthy-looking color” with a “blendable application.” The palette was decent; Albatross actually seemed more powdery and weaker than the permanent version, while the other four products were better.

Albatross is a very light, white gold with a more matte, powdery base that is white-based with lighter, warmer yellow shimmer. Albatross is a nice highlighter for someone who wants a very pale, ethereal base. On my skin tone, I find I have to be careful with application or else the white base is too prominent, but it mixes and layers well with a lot of blushes (which is how I tend to wear my highlighters). The texture of the version in the palette was more powdery and more prone to sheeringout–you can see how it looks chalkier overall than past iterations of the shade and less shimmery. It wore well for seven hours on me. bareMinerals The Many Splendors #1 (LE) is darker (95% similar). Colour Pop Stole the Show (P, $8.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Chanel Camelia de Plumes (LE, $76.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Divergent Gleaming Pearl (LE) is more shimmery (95% similar). Chanel Camelia de Plumes (LE, $76.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Cle de Peau Pastel (11) (P, $55.00) is cooler (90% similar). Cle de Peau Gold (12) (P, $55.00) is darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Luminous (P, $30.00) is darker (90% similar). Makeup Revolution Golden Lights (P, $6.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Moodlight (Daylight) (LE) is warmer (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Close-Up #1 (LE) is cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Inner Light (LE) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Giorgio Armani Belladonna (LE, $88.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Zoeva Glowing Still (P) is more shimmery (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Sex Appeal is a light pinky-peach with warmer undertones and a matte finish. The texture was silky, finely-milled, and soft enough that it was a touch dusty in the pan, but it didn’t look dry or chalky on my skin tone., though the color doesn’t really show up on my complexion (I’m so sorry!) and will obviously be more visible on someone of a lighter skin tone. I tried to really pack it on, but as it was hard to see on me, I was only able to guess that it was still on after seven hours (I looked for a sheen coming through, since it did have a mattifying effect that I could detect). Laura Mercier Sunset (LE, $24.00) is darker (95% similar). NARS Conquest (LE, $30.00) is lighter (95% similar). bareMinerals Inner Beauty (LE) is more shimmery (95% similar). Buxom Swept Away (-, $24.00) is cooler (95% similar). MAC Corol #1 (LE, $22.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Stay By Me (P, $23.50) is darker (95% similar). Dior Peach Splendor (LE, $44.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Tarte Trustworthy (LE, $28.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Makeup Geek Cherish (P, $10.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Blush Pink (LE, $35.50) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Surratt Beauty Duchesse (P, $32.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Kat Von D Mallory (Light) (P) is cooler (90% similar). Benefit Georgia (DC, $28.00) is warmer (90% similar). Kat Von D Nancy (Light) (P) is cooler (90% similar). Smashbox Petunia (LE) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Amber Glow (LE, $27.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). bareMinerals The Spring Fling (LE, $22.00) is darker (90% similar). Sisley Paris Mango (3) (P, $85.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). MAC Adored (LE, $32.00) is more shimmery, darker (85% similar). LORAC Prism (P, $22.00) is darker (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Illusive is a muted, medium pinky-coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage, though not fully opaque, paired with a soft, lightly dusty texture that was easily blended on the skin. One nice thing is that it didn’t seem to darken on the skin like some matte blushes can, so what I saw in the pan is what I saw swatched and applied. This shade did show up more noticeably on my skin tone, but it is subtler, so it may not be in line with your needs or preferences, depending on your skin tone. It wore well for eight hours before fading on me. NARS Unwritten (LE, $30.00) is darker (95% similar). bareMinerals Glamour (LE, $19.00) is brighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Overexposed (LE) is lighter (95% similar). Hourglass Surreal Effect (LE, $35.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). NYX Amber (P, $6.50) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). Tarte Live (LE, $28.00) is cooler (90% similar). NARS Make Believe (LE, $30.00) is brighter (90% similar). Chanel Innocence (160) (P, $45.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Sephora Shame On You (01) (P, $14.00) is warmer (90% similar). Clinique Pink Honey Pop (P, $21.00) is lighter (90% similar). KIKO 108 Orange Coral (P, $12.00) is warmer (90% similar). Hourglass Radiant Magenta (P, $35.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Tarte Unleashed (LE, $28.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Makeup Geek Spell Bound (P, $10.00) is cooler (90% similar). Physicians Formula Natural (P, $12.99) is lighter (90% similar). Tarte Concept (LE, $28.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Cheeky Bugger (LE, $22.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Peach Cobbler (LE) is lighter, brighter, warmer (85% similar). Colour Pop Trickery (DC, $8.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Chanel Sakura (87) (LE, $45.00) is lighter, brighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Make Believe is a brighter, medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. The blush had mostly opaque color payoff, while the consistency was soft, smooth, and not too firm or too soft, so it didn’t seem dusty or powdery to me. It applied and blended out well, and the flat matte finish did not appear dry on the skin. This shade started to fade after eight hours on me. MAC Spring Flock (LE, $22.00) is darker (95% similar). Too Faced Peach Cobbler (LE) is brighter (95% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Seductive Beauty (Cheek Pop) (LE, $40.00) is darker (95% similar). NARS Illusive (LE, $30.00) is more muted (90% similar). LORAC Technicolor (P, $22.00) is darker, brighter (90% similar). Gucci Beauty Coral Flower (P, $49.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). NARS Day Dream (LE, $30.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Tarte Bashful (LE, $28.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). NARS Unwritten (LE, $30.00) is darker, more muted, cooler (85% similar). Chanel Angelique (190) (P, $45.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Exhibitionist (LE) is cooler (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Golshan is a slightly muted, medium-dark brick red with warm undertones and a cream finish that had a light sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentaiton with a smooth, velvety texture that glided on effortlessly and delivered even coverage in one stroke. The texture was lightly creamy with some slip, but the product didn’t slide around while worn. This shade lasted for six hours, was lightly hydrating, and left a stain behind. Bite Beauty Braised Maple (LE, $24.00) is darker, glossier (95% similar). NARS Codie (LE, $32.00) is lighter (95% similar). Colour Pop Lost (P, $6.00) is more muted (95% similar). Bite Beauty Maple (P, $26.00) is lighter, less glossy (95% similar). NARS Fire Down Below (P, $28.00) is warmer (95% similar). Urban Decay Bad Blood (P, $17.00) is darker, warmer (95% similar). Urban Decay Bad Blood (DC, $22.00) is warmer (95% similar). Too Faced Melted Velvet (P, $21.00) is darker, warmer (95% similar). MAC Reddy to Go (P, $20.00) is lighter, less glossy (95% similar). MAC Retro Rouge (LE, $18.00) is cooler, glossier (95% similar). NARS Mysterious Red (P, $25.00) is less glossy (95% similar). Chanel Enigmatique (135) (P, $36.00) is cooler (90% similar). Kat Von D Nosferatu (P, $20.00) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). Kat Von D Project Chimps (LE, $20.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Rouge Fatal (LE, $50.00) is cooler, glossier (90% similar). Urban Decay Mrs. Mia Wallace (P, $17.00) is darker, cooler, glossier (90% similar). Urban Decay Temper (DC, $22.00) is lighter (90% similar). Colour Pop Mama (LE, $6.00) is warmer, less glossy (90% similar). Colour Pop TGIF (LE, $5.00) is glossier (95% similar). NARS True Story Cheek & Lip Palette

NARS True Story Cheek & Lip Palette
NARS True Story Cheek & Lip Palette

NARS True Story Cheek & Lip Palette ($59.00 for 0.56 oz.) includes four cheek colors plus lip pencil. There are three permanentshades–Devotee, Outlaw, and Mysterious Red–and two new shades–Myth and Unwritten. This palette is going to work best for someone of a fairer complexion, as two of the cheek colors are rather light and matte, so they harder to distinguish on my skin tone. NARS’ Powder Blush formula is described as “beautifully pigmented, natural, healthy-looking color” with a “blendable application.” The palette had good pigmentation, average to normal wear, and were blendable. I didn’t have any issues applying the blushes or the lip color, so if they are the kind of colors that appeal and would work for your skin tone, it might be a palette to check out this holiday season.

Devotee is a pink-tinged white with warmer undertones and a luminous sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage with a soft, smooth, and blendable texture that sat well on the skin and was easy to work with. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours. Jouer Rose Quartz (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, darker (95% similar). L'Oreal Ice (P, $12.99) is more shimmery (95% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Desert Explorations (LE, $2.99) is less shimmery (95% similar). Make Up For Ever #01 (P, $39.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Laura Mercier Devotion (P, $44.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). LORAC Moonlight (P, $22.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Makeup Revolution Peach Lights (P, $6.00) is cooler (95% similar). Lancome Moonlight Rose (LE, $42.00) is darker (90% similar). Becca Rose Quartz (LE, $38.00) is darker (90% similar). Makeup Geek Luster (P, $20.00) is darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Myth is a pale, light pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. If I pack it on, I can just barely see a tint of pink on my cheeks, but this will show up better on someone with a lighter skin tone, and it will be hard to overdo on even very fair skin. The texture was soft, silky, and just a touch dusty in the pan, but it didn’t look dry or chalky on the skin. It lasted for just over seven hours on me. Dior Intemporalle (LE, $65.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Kat Von D Poe (Light) (P) is darker (90% similar). NARS Conquest (LE, $30.00) is lighter (85% similar). MAC Launch Away (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery, darker (85% similar). KIKO 109 Candy Rose (P, $12.00) is darker (85% similar). Guerlain Morning Rose (P, $52.00) is darker (85% similar). Burberry Misty (P, $42.00) is darker (80% similar). Makeup Geek Main Squeeze (P, $10.00) is more shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Unwritten is a light-medium pink with warm undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was soft, a touch dusty, but it was smooth and blendable on the skin and did not appear dry or dusty once I started to blend it out. It had good pigmentation initially, but it did sheer out a bit more readily than most blushes. Like Myth, I can pack this on and get just a hint of color on my skin tone, so it’s going to be more ideal for someone of a lighter skin tone or someone who wants almost no visible blush color that is similar to my skin tone. It started to fade after seven and a half hours of wear. NARS Illusive (LE, $30.00) is lighter (95% similar). NYX Mauve (P, $5.00) is brighter (95% similar). bareMinerals Glamour (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Guerlain Angelic Radiance (LE, $53.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Chanel Jardin de Chanel (LE, $55.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Kindergarten Red (LE, $32.00) is darker (95% similar). NYX Dusty Rose (P, $5.00) is darker (95% similar). Tarte Amazed (LE, $28.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Cheeky Bugger (LE, $22.00) is warmer (95% similar). Urban Decay Overexposed (LE) is warmer (95% similar). NARS Blasphemy (LE, $30.00) is more shimmery, darker (95% similar). Physicians Formula Natural (P, $12.99) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Zoeva CR020 (P) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). Stila Dusty Rose (LE) is darker (90% similar). Catrice Coral Me Maybe (P, $5.99) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Tarte Live (LE, $28.00) is darker, brighter (90% similar). NARS Make Believe (LE, $30.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (85% similar). Hourglass Radiant Magenta (P, $35.00) is more shimmery, warmer (85% similar). LORAC Tinge (P, $22.00) is lighter (85% similar). Makeup Geek XOXO (P, $10.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Outlaw is a deep berry with subtle, cool undertones and warmer, golden shimmer. The version in the palette was actually better than the last standalone I tested! The version included in the palette was very pigmented, softer and smoother to the touch, and more blendable. I didn’t have any issues blending and diffusing the edges. The color wore well for nine hours on me before fading. MAC Sweet Samba (LE, $27.00) is warmer (95% similar). Laura Geller Plumberry (P, $26.00) is brighter, cooler (90% similar). Tarte Does This Thing Really Work? (LE, $28.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Gentle (P, $27.00) is lighter (90% similar). NARS Goulue (P, $30.00) is darker, brighter (85% similar). KIKO 104 Pastel Pink (P, $12.00) is warmer (90% similar). Viseart Plum #2 (P) is less shimmery (90% similar). NARS Soulshine #3 (LE, $30.00) is less shimmery, darker, more pigmented (85% similar). Urban Decay TMI (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). Urban Decay Rapture (P, $26.00) is more muted, cooler (85% similar). Urban Decay Easy (LE, $26.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). theBalm Pinstripe (P, $22.00) is cooler (85% similar). NARS Seduction (P, $30.00) is , less shimmery (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Mysterious Red is a bright, medium-dark red with neutral-to-warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It was richly pigmented with a lightly creamy, velvety texture that glided on easily and didn’t sink into lip lines. It wore well for six and a half hours on me, left behind a stain, and was a touch drying overall. MAC Feels So Grand (P, $20.00) is cooler (95% similar). Anastasia Ultimate Glow Glow Kit

Anastasia Ultimate Glow Glow Kit
Anastasia Ultimate Glow Glow Kit

Anastasia Ultimate Glow Glow Kit ($45.00 for 0.96 oz.) includes six highlighters in a gold-hued theme. This palette is going to be best suited for someone who likes more over-the-top highlighters that run glittery, sparkling, and/or metallic and doesn’t mind if the texture of their skin is emphasized by their highlighter. The formula on some of the highlighters is rather dense, so airier, fluffier brushes did not work well with it–I felt like a denser or even a flat, synthetic brush worked better to get both color and shimmer out of the product. The more feathery brushes I tried tended to grab more of the sparkle and frost content than color, which resulted in a more uneven application.

Snow is a bright white with a metallic sheen and subtle, warmer undertones. It had mostly opaque color payoff with a soft, smooth consistency that was lightly creamy and not too dense in the pan. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me and did not emphasize pores or my skin’s natural texture. NYX Ice Queen (P, $5.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Burberry No. 01 White (LE, $68.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Tarte Champagne Pink (LE) is warmer (95% similar). Makeup Geek Moon Phase (P, $20.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Chanel Poudre Lumiere Glacee (LE, $45.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Becca Pearl (P, $38.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). L'Oreal Ice (P, $12.99) is cooler (95% similar). Colour Pop Honeymoon (LE, $8.00) is cooler (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

White Sand is a bright, light-medium yellow gold with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The consistency was dense, more cream-like than powder-like, with opaque color coverage. The texture did not work as well with most highlighter brushes, as they were too feathery and did not have enough bulk or firmness to them to pick up the color. I had better luck with synthetic brushes as Elle as denser blush brushes. This blended out well on the skin, and as I blended it out, it did not seem to emphasize my skin’s natural texture. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading. Anastasia Butterscotch (LE) is more shimmery (95% similar). Tarte Authentic (LE, $28.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Makeup Geek Midnight Sun (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, darker, more muted (95% similar). Tarte Champagne (LE) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Chanel Routes des Indes de Chanel Illuminating Powder (LE, $65.00) is darker (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Party (LE, $46.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Burberry The Runway Palette (LE, $68.00) is less shimmery, darker, more muted (90% similar). Becca Prosecco Pop (LE, $38.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Anastasia Summer (LE) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Gold (LE, $46.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Anastasia Sunburst (LE) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Anastasia Golden Dawn (LE) is darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Golden Dawn is a medium gold with warmer undertones and a sparkly, metallic finish. The texture was denser, somewhat creamy, but it had a more noticeable sparkle to it, which gave it a drier feel. I felt like some of the shimmer loosened away from the base color, and this was a shade that I found a dense blush brush was what worked best for applying. When I used a tapered highlighting brush, I got a few stray sparkles but little color payoff. The color wore well for eight hours, but there was some emphasis of pores due to the chunkier frost/sparkle in it. Becca Champagne Gold (LE, $38.00) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Chanel Routes des Indes de Chanel Illuminating Powder (LE, $65.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Becca Prosecco Pop (LE, $38.00) is lighter (90% similar). Anastasia Sunray (LE) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Gold (LE, $46.00) is lighter (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Party (LE, $46.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). L'Oreal Golden (P, $12.99) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). Anastasia White Sand (LE) is lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Sunray is a medium-dark, bronzy gold with warm undertones and copper sparkle over a metallic finish. It had more noticeable sparkles that lifted away from the base color, especially as I blended it on the skin, so it did not translate onto the skin overall. (This may be a good thing if you do not like noticeable glitter!) It had a stronger sheen, which emphasized my pores slightly, but it seemed to dissipate as I blended and buffed the color onto my cheeks. The texture was smooth, dense, and creamy-like to the touch. On me, the highlighter started to fade after eight hours of wear. Laura Mercier Addiction (P, $44.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Looxi Beauty Luxe (P, $7.50) is lighter (95% similar). Becca Prosecco Pop (LE, $38.00) is lighter (95% similar). Anastasia Dripping in Gold (LE) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). Makeup Geek Nightlight (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Anastasia Golden Dawn (LE) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Dior Transatlantique (LE, $58.00) is darker (90% similar). L'Oreal Golden (P, $12.99) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Anastasia So Hollywood (P, $28.00) is darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Pyrite (LE) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Chanel Mouche de Beaute Illuminating Powder (LE, $80.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Anastasia Bubbly (LE) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Looxi Beauty Centerfold (P, $7.50) is more muted (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Amber Gold is a muted, medium-dark rosy copper with a lot of warm rose and yellow gold sparkle and shimmer. The texture of the powder was very dense, and it really required firm pressure and a dense brush to get payoff out of it; the problem was less that it was firm so much as it was just like a very dense cream. It’s the type of texture that seems to work well for intensely pigmented eyeshadows, but it is too dense to get that same level of coverage when using with traditional cheek and face brushes. As I blended this shade out, the color pulled apart more and looked a little patchy. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours. Bobbi Brown Afternoon Glow (LE, $46.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Laura Mercier Indiscretion (P, $44.00) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Glint (LE) is lighter (90% similar). Colour Pop Might Be (P, $8.00) is darker (90% similar). Estee Lauder Modern Mercury (LE, $65.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Hot Sand is a slightly muted, medium-dark coppery brown with warm, orange undertones and copper sparkle over a metallic finish. This shade was similar in texture to Amber Gold: very dense, cream-like, and smooth to the touch, but it was difficult to get good pigmentation and even coverage using most cheek brushes. I liked applying this with fingertips the best, actually, as it gave me better coverage and a smoother finish. The product didn’t diffuse well with a brush, as it had a tendency to stick strongly where it first landed and did not want to move from there. I was able to wear this shade for eight hours. MAC My Mimi (LE, $45.50) is lighter (95% similar). Anastasia Golden Bronze (LE) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Looxi Beauty Divine (P, $7.50) is lighter (90% similar). Colour Pop Parasol (LE, $8.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Touch My Body (LE, $39.50) is less shimmery, less pigmented (90% similar). Viseart Highlight #3 (P) is less shimmery (90% similar). Anastasia Mimosa (LE) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Becca Bronzed Amber (LE, $38.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Becca Blushed Copper (LE, $38.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Burberry The Runway Palette Illuminating Powder

Burberry The Runway Illuminating Powder
Burberry The Runway Illuminating Powder

Burberry The Runway Illuminating Powder ($68.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a light-medium, yellow gold with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. Anastasia White Sand (LE) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Party (LE, $46.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Bobbi Brown 24 Karat (P, $46.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Cle de Peau Gold (12) (P, $55.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Becca Prosecco Pop (LE, $38.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Chanel Routes des Indes de Chanel Illuminating Powder (LE, $65.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Becca Moonstone (P, $38.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Anastasia Butterscotch (LE) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Anastasia Sunburst (LE) is lighter (85% similar). Tarte Authentic (LE, $28.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

It’s a new, limited edition highlighting powder described as a “luminous gold.” There is a strong, glittery overspray that sits on top of the powder, and while I did my best to brush it off, it took a few uses for it to really go away and reveal a more pearly finish. The initial glitter makes the finish more over-the-top with visible glitter particles that sit on the face without adding luminosity (they can look like dirt, if the light doesn’t hit them right!). To the touch, the powder had a drier consistency and didn’t feel finely-milled. I think it looked better on the skin than one would expect from the swatch, as the shimmer is softer and more luminous once blended and buffed into the skin. It had good pigmentation, and the color wore for just over eight hours before fading.
