Illamasqua Morale Powder Blush ($27.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “shimmering magenta pink.” It’s a cool-toned, medium pink with a frosted finish. NARS Gaiety is more matte. MAC Peony Petal is darker, less frosted. MAC I’m the One is darker, less frosted. See comparison swatches here.

The texture of Morale is very soft but, as a result, somewhat powdery.  Luckily, the powderiness did not translate on the skin as dry-looking or chalky.  The high frost content of the finish did emphasize the texture of the skin and pores.  Morale blends out beautifully on the skin and can be worn as a subtle pink or layered for a more intense look, as it is incredibly pigmented but still buildable and blendable, so a sheerer application is possible.  There was minor fading after eight hours of wear.

Maybelline Coral Burst Blush ($5.99 for 0.09 oz.) is a bold, brightened, medium orange with a soft, golden sheen and a satin finish. MAC Optimistic Orange is a cream product and less golden but still similar. NARS Taj Mahal is lighter, less red-toned. MAC My Paradise is somewhat redder.

Coral Burst is incredibly pigmented–very, very intense, so darker complexions will have no issues with it showing up on their skin tones, while lighter complexions will want to use a light hand and a stippling or fan brush to apply this.  The texture is soft, smooth, and fairly blendable on the skin.  It has a subtle golden shimmer that gives it a luminous, satiny finish that glows but isn’t too frosted, so it doesn’t emphasize pores or the skin’s natural texture.  Coral Burst wore seven hours well on me with slight fading becoming noticeable after eight hours.

Edward Bess Summer in Capri Quad Royale ($45.00 for 0.25 oz.) is described as a “beige pink.” It’s a medium-dark brown with a rosy, plummy tinge and a satiny sheen. The individual colors are: a soft peach, warm beige-peach with a satin sheen, muted, medium brown with neutral undertones, and pale peach with a satin finish. bareMinerals The Indecent Proposal is much darker, more plum, less beige. MAC Darkly my Dear is darker but similar in color. NARS Douceur is slightly browner. Burberry Cameo is rosier.

The palette is primarily marketed as a cheek product, though it can be used on the eyes. It contains four shades to “sculpt and highlight the face.” As a blush/cheek color, it’s easier to use sections but not individual shades, as only the bottom right shade is large enough to accommodate a blush brush (and even that is not that large). Summer in Capri had good, true-to-pan color payoff, but it’s a lighter shade and will not show up well on medium-dark and deeper complexions, so I would recommend it primarily for lighter skin tones.

It is subtle on my skin tone (I’m medium) and adds some definition and color without being over-the-top. The texture is soft like silk, incredibly finely-milled, and so smooth. The finish is lovely with a satiny sheen that doesn’t look shimmery or heavy on the skin and gives skin a natural-looking glow. It lasted eight and a half hours well on my skin, and it started to fade after nine hours of wear.

MAC Hot Nights Blush ($23.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone berry pink [with a frost finish].” It’s a bright, bold raspberry pink with a satiny sheen (not very frosted at all). MAC Prom Princess is lighter. NARS Mata Hari is bit lighter, less cool-toned. Tom Ford Narcissist is much brighter and bolder, more magenta. MAC Supernova is very similar. Tom Ford Wicked is lighter, more shimmery. MAC Amazon Princess is also similar.

Hot Nights is very intense–it has amazingly rich color payoff!  In a blush, this is excellent news for deeper skin tones, while it can be taken with less enthusiasm from those with very fair complexions.  For fairer complexions, I recommend using a very light hand, a soft brush, preferably a stippling one.  I applied this using MAC’s fan brush (184), and it was still quite intense even on my medium skin tone. Though rich in color, the texture itself was slightly dry, and I felt like trying to blend such a pigmented blush on my cheeks took a lot of doing. I ended up blending more foundation along the edges to soften them!  Hot Nights wore for eight hours well, and after nine hours, it was beginning to fade.

	My biggest complaint is the drier texture made it less blendable on, and when something this intense is tough to blend, it can be difficult to get smooth, even color.

Aveda Hibiscus is slightly pinker, less shimmery. MAC Stereo Rose is more frosted, slightly lighter. bareMinerals The Natural High is pinker. Tom Ford Lovelust is less orange, more shimmery. MAC Ripe Peach is very similar but can appear lighter/pinker (depending on where you concentrate your brush).  MAC Marine Life is similar but can turn redder (less orange), depending on how you apply it.

The more you blend the blush out, the more the satiny sheen transforms into a glow. It had a soft, finely-milled texture that applied smoothly and evenly. The texture made it easy to blend on the skin. Ripe for Love had good, buildable color; true-to-pan payoff but easy to sheer out or build up in layers for just the right intensity that you desire at any given moment. When I wore it yesterday, it lasted seven and a half hours well, and it was marginally faded after eight hours–it wasn’t too noticeable under eight and a half hours.

Aveda Hibiscus Petal Essence Face Accents ($24.00 for 0.30 oz.) is described as a “nude highlighter to soft coral to bright coral.” Together, the blush swirls to create a subtly pink-tinted coral with a soft, beige-champagne shimmer-sheen finish and warm undertones. Tarte Curious is pinker. Too Faced Sweethearts is lighter and pinker. bareMinerals The Natural High has a stronger gold sheen. MAC Fleet Fast is darker. NARS Deep Throat is similar. Because this is a split-pan blush, it can be applied lighter/darker depending on how you swirl your brush. The individual shdaes consist of a deep, rich orange-red with a satin finish; light-medium rosy beige with a satin finish; and champagne beige with a champagne sheen.

This blush is easiest to use altogether or concentrating on two of the three shades, because each strip of color just isn’t wide enough to accommodate most blush brushes. It is supposed to ve scented with lavender, though I couldn’t really smell it in the pan or on. All three individual shades were very, very pigmented, so when applied together, the result is just as rich in color payoff, but the texture is very soft and smooth. It can be sheered out to a lighter color or built up for something more intense. It has a delicate satin finish, so there’s just barely enough shimmer to give cheeks a natural glow but nothing frosted or metallic, which means pores are not emphasized either. Hibiscus lasted eight and a half hours on me, and I saw signs of fading after nine hours of wear.

	It's a very richly pigmented blush, and if you like the idea of being able to lighten/darker the general color, this is one to consider. I only wish that the strips were a bit wider to better use them individually!
