Hard Candy Launches @ Walmart Next Week!

In just one week, Hard Candy, a colorful, tempting and addictive cosmetic brand will be hitting the mass market shelve at the largest retailer in the world – Walmart. It’s the first time a prestige cosmetics collection has gone mass and features unique, specialty products.

Hard Candy products have formulas that are worthy of the prestige market and ahead of the trends with star products like Painted Lady Manic Shine Intense lip color, Eye Tattoo and Balm Girls Tinted Lip Balms. There is a nod to the company’s storied heritage featuring Just Nails polish (yes, the rings are there!), Eye Candy shadows and Fortune Gloss – complete with a tiny Magic 8 ball.

Unique components and stellar merchandising clearly sets the brand apart from its mass brand neighbors. Hard Candy looks like it belongs in Sephora but the pricing totally defies the product offering. Hard Candy is a collaboration between NuWorld Beauty and Walmart insuring that mass market consumers will have access to an out of the box, forward thinking, fun, affordable, quality cosmetics brand. Walmart’s commitment to beauty has been matched with Hard Candy’s drive toward innovative break though style.

Every season the fashion crowd is up and on the run, crazy for the fierce and sexy fun we’ve come to expect from designers Dan and Dean Caten, the Canadian twins who know how to pack a punch – and throw a party!

With their haute hi-jinx and body-beautiful clothes for boys and girls, a collaboration with M·A·C simply could NOT be avoided! “DSquared² and M·A·C are on the same trip!” says Dan. It starts with a strong, sooty, blackest-ever wild-child eye… a new Greasepaint Stick also in blue and violet versions, and Pro Gloss to create it. Neutral and perfected skin will get more drama with highlighting and low lighting from Sculpt and Shape Powders and the 165 Tapered Cheek/Highlight Brush all the better to achieve it. And finally, the totally nude Pro Lip Erase does its stuff, followed by a light Lipstick and Lip Conditioner to put the lilt and lift back in….

But the cynosure of this season’s scintillating collaboration is the daring, dramatic, slightly demented DSquared² eye. Have fun with it! This collection brings us to the Ziegfeld Follies by way of Grey Gardens, a bit dishevelled, a litt le Girl Interrupted, both dramatically hip and dangerously sexy.

As designers deepen their fascination with all things architectural, from Raf Simon’s structural dresses for Jil Sander to the futuristic, constructed ‘pod’ shoes that we saw at Balenciaga, so too goes the modern face.

The shapes and steely colours in this collection are an expression of the trend, an ode to the strength of a woman, rendered with true architectural precision. The geometry of eyes in graphic, graphite tones of grey with the beguiling blue sheen of an elegant grid of sky-reflecting windows on a stunning concrete skyscraper, Trend F/W ’09 is a living tower of power! Lips are dark or seductively nude. The fragrance? Asphalt Flower, a limited-life scent as bold and urbane as the modern metropolis.
