Fall Beauty Trends: Sephora’s Genius Report

Posted in: Summer 2008

Sephora’s Genius Report on Fall Beauty Trends 2008 has some interesting information about what we should expect to see this fall!

#1: Drama
With sultry smokey eyes, ultra thick lashes, and even brick red semi-matte lipstick, the drama queen is back. Sephora’s picks are Bare Escentuals’ Rocker Eye, Givenchy’s Phenomen’eyes, and NARS Shanghai Express.

#2: Pop Art
Bright bursts of color will be found on lids, softly blended, but still vibrant. While eyeshadow is bold, lashes are kept feathery rather than super thick and lengthy and lips a matte and neutral. Try Pop Beauty’s Lid Neon, Fresh’s Firebird, and NARS Honolulu Honey.

<#3: Perfect Complexion
When is good skin NOT in style? Sephora recommends Cosmedicine’s Speedy Recovery Acne Treatment System and Philosophy’s Never Let Them See You Shine.

#4: Scent Vacations
Fragrances that take you to different places and eras take center stage. Consider Emilio Pucci’s Vivara (green floral) or Kenzo’s Vintage Edition (unisex, reminiscent of the 70s).

#5: Metallic Sheen
Nails are going to be metallic, industrial. Look for heavy metals, matte grays, textured blacks. Check out Sephora by OPI (54 sahdes).

#6: Go HD
To perfect the skin canvas, try Make Up For Ever’s HD Foundation and HD Powder.

LUSH’s Latest – Porridge Soap, Retro Lush, & Athletes Rejoice!

Posted in: Lush, Summer 2008

LUSH’S LATEST | I know we have some Lushies on Temptalia, and I love me some Lush myself. Here’s some recent happenings with the brand!

Porridge Soap ($5.95 for 1/4 lb) uses wholesome oats to help soothe your skin and scented with molasses. This product is great for those who suffer from eczema, because of oats’ soothing qualities. It’s also an exfoliator, but the bits aren’t too rough or hard.

RETRO LUSH IS HERE! This summer, when you order online, you can purchase some of your favorite discontinued LUSH products. You can give the gift of Retro ($49.95), which includes Uluru and Bon Bomb Bath Bombs, Pineapple Grunt Soap, Red Rooster Soap, Slammer Shower Gel, and Freezer Shower Gel. Or else browse the four pages of old favorites brought back. Can I just say this gift is awesome? I received it, and it’s so cute and fun to get. Bath bombs are ridiculously fun – make me feel like I’m 5 years old in the bath tub.Â

To celebrate the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games, LUSH has picked out four products perfect for the athlete in you! These include Wiccy Magic Muscles Massage Bar ($8.95) with cinnamon leaf oil and aduki beans; Fair Trade Foot Lotion ($19.95) to keep your feet in tip-toe condition; Demon in the Dark Soap ($8.75) with mint to help with inflammation; and Running to the Embassy Body Butter ($11.95) to help soften callusses, cracked heels, and feet.

Neutrogena skinID – Customized Acne Care For You

Posted in: Drugstore Brands, Summer 2008

When I first heard about Neutrogena’s skinID, I got very, very excited. I have suffered mild to moderate acne for many years, and it has worsened since owning a puppy (something about dogs…). Despite washing my hands too often, avoiding touching my face, and all the other tricks of the trade–it still plagues me a bit. I’ve never tried ProActive, though I have been tempted, but this is something I can’t wait to try. Neutrogena makes a host of good products, and they are one of the drugstore brands that I trust. You’ll definitely hear from me about this in the future! www.skinid.com

In a clinical trial testing 500 people with different skin, acne and lifestyles, 100% of people using skin iD got clearer, healthier-looking skin. skin iD is currently the only non-prescription acne solution on the market that has conducted a double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial — the “gold standard†in testing methodology. This clinical trial demonstrated skin iD’s power to work significantly better than the top selling acne regimen in treating 16 different signs of acne.Â
Â
skin iD was developed by Neutrogena Dermatologics with a group of leading dermatologists, scientists and market researchers, charged to create a customized skin-clearing solution specifically designed to treat acne on a case-by-case basis without a prescription. skin iD is comprised of a skin evaluation, an exclusive product line and a comprehensive Web site to treat each individual’s acne needs.Â
Â
Exclusively available on skiniD.com, and showcased through a series of infomercials, skin iD is the first proposition of its kind on the market. “We wanted to create a highly effective acne solution to meet the needs of individuals who are not satisfied with their existing acne regimen,†states Jim Colleran, President, Neutrogena Corporation. “skin iD was developed with an innovative one-on-one approach. We determined that offering consumers access to skin iD through a dedicated Web site or by phone would allow for the dialogue necessary to evaluate their unique skincare needs and provide a personalized regimen.â€
Â
skin iD utilizes a breakthrough skin and lifestyle evaluation tool, which contains a patent-pending algorithm that provides a personalized skincare regimen based on the specific skincare needs of each individual consumer. skin iD is formulated with two leading acne-fighting medicines, Salicylic Acid and Benzoyl Peroxide, included in more than 25 customized acne skincare regimens that cleanse, treat and protect for significantly improved skin.

MAC Cosmetics – Sheer Minerals

Posted in: By MAC Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics, Summer 2008

Thanks to Bjooti.net for these images! The site is in Swedish (it is one of my favorite sites to look at, though, ha!), so I don’t know if the text has more description. Nonetheless, I presume that the mineral makeup is the same as or similar to the previous mineral makeup foundations that came out (the packaging is the same). I’d like to say those are MSFs, too… No real word on this, and it could end up being an international only launch, too (since US already launched the mineral powders!).

MAC Cosmetics – PRO Lanches Neon Pigments

Posted in: By MAC Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics, Summer 2008

MAC PRO launched six new neon pigments that are matte in texture! (Thanks to KrasevayadancerÂfor these images!) Unfortunately, SF PRO is closed for the night (I always order through them, because then the package arrives next day, practically!), but I did call up South Coast Plaza PROÂ(makes meÂmiss living in Irvine — cause you know your girl would be driving there right now!)Âto get color names! Since I own so many pigments, I imagine I’ll probably order them all tomorrow morning. Whether I’ll wear them is a different story.ÂÂ

What about you? Would you wear these?

  • Red Electric
  • Full Force Violet
  • Green Space
  • Neo Orange
  • Magenta Madness
  • Kick-It Yellow

Check out three swatches… Continue reading »
