The Summer Season: NYX Chloe Lipstick

NYX Chloe Lipstick ($4.00) is a darkened fuchsia-red with iridescent violet-fuchsia sheen. This is definitely a bold, bright shade with a frosty finish. I could see this shade working really well with some thick, retro liquid liner. I didn’t notice any scent on mine, but the taste is a little waxy, but I wasn’t particularly bothered by it (I rarely get any taste of my lip products other than when I taste deliberately for a review!). It’s a nice pop of color for under $5!

The Summer Season: VS Makeup Be Mine Lipstick

VS Makeup Be Mine Perfect Lipstick ($12.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a creamy, brightened watermelon pink. It’s totally opaque, and it wears well–a nice three to four hours before it starts to fade. It has a soft, glossy sheen but no shimmer. VS Makeup Lipsticks are sleeper hits, in my opinion, because they really have amazing texture, color pay off, and wear.

The Summer Season: La Prairie Corail Lipstick

The color itself is smooth, rich, and lasts a solid six hours on me. Yes, six hours! before it starts to fade a bit. Surprisingly, it’s not drying at all–the texture is silky and glides onto lips with ease, but it’s not overly creamy. It’s a stunning shade, and it certainly comes at a price. For those who can afford the indulgence, La Prairie lipsticks are excellent.

The Summer Season: Milani Orange Gina Lipstick

Milani Orange Gina Lipstick ($3.49) is a beautiful shade of vibrant darkened orange with tangerine-gold shimmer. This is a bold, intense color to wear on lips, but it’s not a neon orange. It’s not loudmouth orange at all. The golden shimmer strewn through the color makes it perfect for summer! I find the scent of Milani lipsticks to be a little synthetic, but for the price, I’ll endure. The color payoff is fantastic–super smooth, rich color that applies evenly. I get about three hours of wear with this shade in particular.

The Summer Season: MAC Full Fuchsia Lipstick

MAC Full Fuchsia Lipstick ($14.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright fuchsia pink with full-color coverage and a slight sheen. It has an amplified creme finish, so it’s creamy but not overly so. It does have a frostier finish than the majority of amplified cremes, though. I love how opaque it is, and I find it a barely-there cool-toned hot pink, so it’s wearable for both cool and warm skin tones.  This is a PRO shade that’s occasionally available through trend picks on the consumer website, but anyone can visit or call their nearest PRO store to purchase (no membership required!).
