Milani Rose Hip Lipstick

The Summer Season: Milani Rose Hip Lipstick

Milani Rose Hip (07) Lip Color ($3.49 for 0.13 oz.) is a beautiful, vibrant shade of fuchsia-pink. It has no shimmer but it does have a bit of a frosty sheen–not quite glossy. It’s intensely pigmented without having to pile on the layers, and it feels lightweight. The formula itself is creamy and moisturizing, but I find the color wears off considerably after two to three hours. (In all consideration, though I rate quality independent of price, $3.50 for a lipstick doesn’t make me feel guilty or worried about reapplying throughout the day!) I wish the scent was a little less synthetic and waxy, but I don’t notice it when I’m wearing it (though those with more sensitive sniffers may want to try before they buy).

Chanel Phoenix Rouge Allure Laque
Chanel Phoenix Rouge Allure Lacque

The Summer Season: Chanel Phoenix Rouge Allure Laque

Chanel Phoenix (#78) Rouge Allure Laque
icon ($32.00) is a brightened, dark pink with a glossy sheen and very subtle pink shimmer. I love Rouge Allure Laques (I don’t think I’ve kept that a secret!), and Phoenix is gorgeous. It’s this beautiful strawberry-esque pink that’s bold and bright without being electric. I love the full-color coverage, too–totally and utterly opaque on my lips (see, covers my freckle!). Love, love the feel of it as well. It applies evenly and smoothly with ease in what is, essentially, a liquid lipstick formula.  On my lips, I get about three to four hours on average, with the gloss fading around hour two or three and the color lingering for a solid four to five hours. (The deeper Rouge Allure Laques have more lingering colors than the lighter shades, like Ming and Santal.) I hope Chanel is listening, ’cause I want MORE Rouge Allure Laques this year! Another eight? Yes, please!

Dolce & Gabbana Sheer Lipstick
Dolce & Gabbana Sheer Lipstick

The Summer Season: Dolce & Gabbana Sheer (#130) Shine Lipstick

Dolce & Gabbana Sheer (#130) Shine Lipstick ($30.00) is a fiery orange-red. I didn’t even realize it, but I also featured it as part of The Scarlet Season. Even though it’s a Shine Lipstick, it’s so, so pigmented. It’s a rich, fierce orange-red that looks creamy and wet and slightly glossy with full-color coverage. It wears well–about four hours before it noticeably fades–and feels lightweight but still moisturizing. Like all Dolce & Gabbana Lipsticks, it does have a rosy scent that’s noticeable in the tube, but I don’t notice it once it’s on my lips (but I’m also not super sensitive to scents in lip products).

gloMinerals Passion Fruit Lipstick

The Summer Season: gloMinerals Passion Fruit Lipstick

GloMinerals Passion Fruit GloLip Lipstick ($16.50 for 0.12 oz.) is a rich shade of coral-orange with an almost reddish tint. It has no shimmr but a very soft glossed-over sheen. It is a full-color coverage lipstick that feels creamy without being thick or heavy, and it feels lightweight when worn. The lipstick itself is also fragrance-free for those with more sensitivities to scent. It’s moisturizing and wears about three to four hours on my lips.

MAC Girl About Town Lipstick
MAC Girl About Town Lipstick

The Summer Season: MAC Girl About Town Lipstick

MAC Girl About Town Lipstick ($14.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a vibrant shade of darkened, bright fuchsia pink. It has an amplified creme finish, which makes it a very creamy, opaque shade. Girl About Town is a classic pink from MAC, and it’s always been a favorite of mine. I love the full-color coverage it provides while giving just a slightly glossy sheen without shimmer.

Lancome Electric Pink La Laque Fever
Lancome Electric Pink La Laque Fever

The Summer Season: Lancome Electric Pink La Laque Fever

Lancome Electric Pink La Laque Fever ($26.50) is an ultra dazzling darkened fuchsia-pink with an obscene amount of glittery sparkles. There are thirteen shades available, but Electric Pink has always been my favorite, even since they first launched. (You know something is good when you loved it a year ago and are still in awe when you swatch it now!) The color is fun and dark enough to work for not just summer but beyond, but it’s still a nice pop of raspberry pink for summer nights on the beach (or wherever!). The color base itself is a raspberry pink, while it has iridescent fuchsia micro-glitter. It’s like a sophisticated, full-color version of MAC’s Dazzleglass.

Oh, but you know the best part about La Laque Fevers? They wear incredibly well for a gloss. I get a full four hours of color wear out of it, and I’d say the gloss is around two hours or so before it could use a little touch-up (you could use clear gloss as a way to add shine without adding more product). The scent seems a little fruity to me, but it’s subtle and pleasant (much less subtle in comparison to some of Lancome’s lipsticks).
