The Summer Season: Orange Lipsticks & Lipglosses Round-up

15 Orange Lipsticks & Lipglosses

There were definitely some fierce oranges featured over the past few months!  My personal favorite shades were #1, 3, 8, 9, and 11.

If you’ve been jonesin’ for either MAC Morange or Neon Orange, Milani Mandarina is a decent dupe–just a smidgen lighter.  Illamasqua Temper, though a gloss, is similar in color to Dolce & Gabbana Sheer Shine Lipstick.

The Summer Season: Purple Lipsticks & Lipglosses Round-up

6 Purple Lipsticks & Lipglosses

Today marks the end of the Summer Season, which means it’s time for round-ups to see what’s close, what’s similar, and all of that.  There weren’t too many purple lipsticks/glosses that were really rich and pigmented, so with only six featured in during the series, there are definitely no dupes amongst them!

  1. Dolce & Gabbana Violet Lipstick
  2. Illamasqua Fierce Intense Lipgloss
  3. MAC Show Orchid Lipstick
  4. MAC Violetta Lipstick
  5. Milani Magenta Madness Lipstick
  6. Tarina Tarantino Candy Jar Lipstick

The Summer Season: Shiseido Pout (RS326) Lipstick

Shiseido Pout (RS326) Lipstick

The Summer Season: Shiseido Pout (RS326) Lipstick

Shiseido Pout (RS326) Lipstick ($25.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a semi-sheer pinky mauve with a high gloss sheen.  The Perfect Rouge formula is incredibly moisturizing, and even though this is part of the sheer line, it’s still quite pigmented.  It has subtle pink micro-shimmer that gives it a little added oomph without making it too shimmery.  It’s also scent- and taste-free — just a pleasant nothingness!  I get between two and three hours of wear with this sheerer shade, but it fades quite naturally and doesn’t leave a ring of color behind.

Is this the right pink for you? Would you wear it?

The Summer Season is a series of posts featuring bright, vibrant shades of coral, orange, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for a summer of fun — that runs through July 2010.

The Summer Season: NARS Hot Wired Lip Lacquer

NARS Hot Wired Lip Lacquer ($24.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a jelly textured raspberry pink with bright, iridescent fuchsia micro-shimmer.  NARS’ Lip Lacquers are incredibly moisturizing and feel very slick–but not sticky–on lips.  The color pay off yields a nice semi-opaque look.  It works well on its own or layered over a lipstick, too.  The only thing I have to note is that the scent was like crayons/wax–a scent that has plagued more NARS’ lip products than I’d like.  It doesn’t linger, but it was quite potent in the jar.

The Summer Season: MAC Hot Gossip Lipstick

MAC Hot Gossip Lipstick ($14.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a soft, semi-sheer medium pink with a subtly cool undertone.  It has white and pink micro-shimmer and a semi-frosty finish.  It has the same vanilla scent as is traditional to MAC lipsticks.  Hot Gossip has a cremesheen finish, which means that it is on the drier side, though I don’t find cremesheens to be drying (but if you have particularly dry lips, wear lip balm first).  The wear is a little below average, in part to the sheerness of the shade, and stands at two to three hours for me.
