HauteLook is having a DDF Skincare sale!

The sale is going on now at HauteLook! :)  Looks like they have a good variety of products available to choose from, and after a cursory glance, looks like most products are 50% off.  I still haven’t gotten a chance to try the DDF products I bought last time they were on HauteLook so I’m gonna pass today.

(The link above is an invite-link, which is a referral link. HauteLook has opened up membership, so you are free to sign up on your own, if you wish! :) )

The Fairest has a Cosmedicine sale going on!

I’ve always heard a TON of good things about their Medi-Matte Lotion, so I think I’m gonna pick some up myself and see what the buzz is about…

When you join from our invite link, you will receive $5 (and I will receive $5, to be clear) when you make you first purchase. Also, it also helps us track how many people we’ve turned onto The Fairest and let’s us (and The Fairest!) know more about the Power of Temptalia. :)

Share your favorite DDF & Cosmedicine products in the comments! :)

P.S. – The Fairest is currently only shipping to U.S. residents right now. If and when anything changes, I’ll definitely pass the word along!

Temptalia Asks You

What does your day-to-day look entail? Is it always different? Is it work-safe/school-safe?

Temptalia's Answer.

I sport the au natural look most of the time since I’m either going to school or staying home more often than not (doing homework, ha!)!

Fashion’s Night Out 2009: NYC

September 10th–the first day of NY Fashion Week–marks this year’s Fashion’s Nigth Out. It’s a night that celebrates fashion with a global initiative designed to promote retail and restore consumer confidence. Aside from some of the lovely festivities going on, a Fashion’s Night Out t-shirt is available with 40% of proceeds being donated to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. A city-wide Clothing Drive is also occurring where donated clothing will be given to the NYC AIDS Fund.

Here is just a preview of FNO ’09 (NYC) happenings…

Sonia Kashuk Secret Admirer

Sonia Kashuk Eyeshadow Duo: Secret Admirer

Sonia Kashuk Secret Admirer Eyeshadow Duo ($6.99) is a stunning duo of shimmery violet-lilac and a softer, matte pale lilac. Both shades run cool, but with the right pairing of warmer or more neutral shades, can easily be worn by most. I’ve always found Sonia Kashuk to be a brand that is reliable and affordable, and this eyeshadow duo lives up to that expectation. Both shades are well pigmented and don’t require lots of layering to get color pay off. Big thumbs up for eyeshadow on a budget!

  • Product: 8/10
  • Value: 9/10
  • Ease of Use: 8/10
  • Packaging: 8/10

Recommendation: If you’re on a budget but are jonesing for some eyeshadow, Sonia Kashuk has you covered!

L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick
Spicy Pink, Robust Raisin, Captivating Copper, Naturally Nude

L’Oreal Color Riche Anti-Aging Serum Lipstick: Robust Raisin, Captivating Copper, Naturally Nude

L’Oreal Color Riche Anti-Aging Serum Lipstick ($9.99) is a newly released lipstick formula from L’Oreal — similar to the orignial Color Riche line, but with an Anti-Aging Serum core. If you notice, there’s a small teardrop of “Anti-Aging Serum” that runs through the middle of the lipstick. These are designed to help improve the look of lips, including minimizing fine lines. The way the product does this is mostly by acting as a lip plumping lipstick thereby minimizing any lines.

This post features four shades:

  • Robust Raisin (#706) is a browned-down raspberry-wine shade with more of a glossy sheen than a frosty finish as is common with many of the other shades in this line.
  • Captivating Copper (#802) is a sheer brownish-nude that goes on glossy and doesn’t appear copper to me whatsoever on lips.
  • Naturally Nude (#803) is a coralish nude that goes on semi-sheer but still opaque enough to deliver color on my lips once applied. It has a slightly glossy sheen that also has a frost finish.

As in part one, these are lightly creamy, semi-glossy/frosty in finish (depends on the shade), and they can be sheer to semi-opaque in color pay off. The same two issues apply as well: packaging feels cheap (just give me plastic, don’t try to psyche me out!) and the scent is a bad mix of lipstick and stale perfume.

Again, I know some dislike lip plumping products, so I’d recommend checking out the original Color Riche line if that describes you. There’s a slight tingle, but it disappears quickly and isn’t painful (as far as lip plumpers go). I think these are a good buy when you can catch ’em on sale — otherwise $9.99 a pop is more than I’d spend at the drugstore.

  • Product: 7/10
  • Value: 7/10
  • Ease of Use: 8/10
  • Packaging: 5/10

Recommendation: If you’re on a budget and are looking for non-drying lipsticks that give you decent color, L’Oreal’s new Color Riche Anti-Aging Serum Lipsticks are a good choice!
