Sunday Link Love, Volume #078

I know this is kind of… after-the-fact, but this is SUCH an awesome idea for beauty enthusiasts!!

Happy Sunday!

To those who celebrate, Merry Christmas! We don’t celebrate religiously, but we do celebrate it as a family holiday–a time to come together, enjoy each other’s companies, and exchange gifts. The older I get, the more practical (and domestic) my wish list becomes! I ended up with a few coveted items from Le Creuset (thank goodness for outlets!) in my favorite shade, Caribbean Blue. I’ve always watched and re-watched one of my favorite holiday movies, which is aptly named The Holiday; Kate Winslet and Jack Black make my heart melt in it. Not really a Christmas classic but one I always return to. With my family, we always watch Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story 🙂 I hope you’re all having a fabulous weekend and sharing it with loved ones!

What We’re Wearing, Vol. 047

What We’re Wearing, Vol. 047

My Christmas-themed look, which I wore today, actually! 🙂  I used NARS Smudgeproof as my eyeshadow base, and then I applied Inglot #418 on the lower third of lid, Inglot #430 on the middle of the lid (and just above the crease), Inglot #450 above the crease, Burberry Trench on brow bone to highlight, Bobbi Brown Bronze on lower lash line with Inglot #430 smudged below.  I patted on Illamasqua Seduce Cream Blush on cheeks softly.  I mixed Hourglass Imagine Extreme Sheen Lipgloss and Giorgio Armani #602 Gloss d’Armani on lips.

What was your favorite look you wore this week?

It doesn’t impact it either way – I won’t not buy a product because a particular celebrity has endorsed it, but I also won’t buy a product because a celebrity says it’s great. I don’t blame a brand for cashing in on a celebrity’s audience/reach, but I really don’t follow celebrities, so I don’t identify with any of them and want to buy products they like/endorse.

NYX Kiss in Casablanca Eyeshadow

NYX Kiss in Casablanca Eyeshadow ($5.00 for 0.09 oz.) is an ocean blue with a soft, frosted finish. What I love about this particular shade of blue is the overall soft, muted quality to it, but it hasn’t diminished the quiet vibrancy of the color at all. It’s like a mix of MAC Freshwater and MAC Deep Truth. MAC Pure Creation is a bit similar, too.

The eyeshadow has a really soft, powdery quality that can result in fall out if you aren’t aware of it (I also think you end up with more product than you need for application, because a little goes a long way). It has great color payoff and melts against skin for a really smooth result. NYX says these will wear “for many hours,” though I will say they tend to look faded after six or seven hours if used without a base. This particular shade I didn’t have any fading issues with when I used it over an eyeshadow base.
