ColourPop Alchemy Super Shock Cheeks

ColourPop Pretty Bonnes Super Shock Cheek ($8.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “creamy ivory with subtle gold duochrome effect.” It’s a light, creamy beige with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. I don’t really notice a duochrome effect in person. The texture was soft, lightly emollient, and smooth on the skin. It is most blendable with fingertips (I think the warmth of fingers helps), but I had no issues using a brush–it just took a little longer. It has mostly opaque coverage applied with fingertips and then more semi-sheer, buildable coverage when used with brushes (as described). The texture didn’t emphasize pores and lasted for eight hours. Cle de Peau Bal Masque (LE, $120.00) is more shimmery, darker (95% similar). L'Oreal Rose (P, $12.99) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight (P, $44.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Lightscapade (P, $32.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Laura Mercier Highlight 01 (P, $40.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop HoneyDude & Teaspoon Creme Gel Liners

ColourPop Honeydude Creme Gel Liner ($6.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “creamy warm nude.” It’s a light peachy-beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, and it adhered well to both the waterline and lower lash line. It wore well for seven hours on the waterline, nine hours on the lower lash line. MAC Risque (P, $16.00) is warmer (95% similar). Urban Decay Walk of Shame (P, $20.00) is darker (90% similar). LORAC Nude (P, $20.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). NARS Rue Bonaparte (P, $24.00) is lighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Descanso & Teaspoon Creme Gel Colours

ColourPop Descanso Creme Gel Colour ($6.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “bright purple.” It’s a bold, bright, medium-dark violet purple with cool undertones and bluish micro-glitter. It had mostly opaque color payoff with a creamy consistency that wasn’t too heavy, nor did it take too long to dry (it is quicker-drying). The color is so vibrant and pops well on the lash line, but I had issues with the glitter and color flaking on me over time, even though much of the color remained visible for over eight hours. Kat Von D Homie (P, $10.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). NARS St. Marks Place (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Sephora Eccentric Diva (P, $9.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Buxom Door's Unlocked (P, $17.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Thanks to Christine for today's question!

How does your hair color impact your makeup?

I honestly can’t say that it does — I have had the same hair color pretty much my entire life. The only time it wasn’t natural was when I would just dye it closer to black with more of a purplish tint (a long time ago). As a result, I’ve never had that moment where I’ve changed my hair color and felt like something didn’t work as a result!
