Here are five blushes worth considering for darker skin tones! Again, this is a short and sweet list but is by no means exhaustive; I tried to include a variety of colors, finishes, and undertones, but just because you don’t see a blush listed here doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work :) I’d love to hear your personal favorites for dark skin tones in the comments!

  1. Milani Bella Rosa — a bright, medium-dark pink with cool undertones and a matte finish
  2. NARS Lovejoy — a medium-dark plum with warm, gold shimmer and a soft satin finish
  3. Becca Papaya/Topaz — a gold-shimmered, copper-brown
  4. NARS Taj Mahal — a vibrant tangerine orange with a luminous sheen
  5. Kevyn Aucoin Fira — a rich, orange-red with a matte finish

Next up, here are five blushes to consider if you have a medium skin tone. I tried to include different price points, finishes, and undertones, but there are so many blushes available, there are many more worth trying. I’m a firm believer that we can wear whatever we desire, whether or not it is supposedly “suitable” on us or not–there’s no harm in trying :) Please share any suggestions in the comments!

  1. theBalm Cabana Boy — a medium-dark, cool-toned plum with a satin finish
  2. Kevyn Aucoin Neolita — a rich, berry-red with a satin finish
  3. Makeup Geek Summer Fling — bright pop of orange with a matte finish
  4. Clinique Peach Pop — a pink-coral with warm undertones and a luminous sheen
  5. Tom Ford Love Lust — a brightened, coral with a frosted finish

I’m often asked for recommendations for blushes, and I thought I’d put together an updated, three-part series on blushes for fair, medium, and dark skin tones (I’ve done this at least once before). I’d love for you to share your favorites for your skin tone as well :) The more suggestions, the better! (Keep in mind, this is only a jumping off point–five recommendations at various price points, finishes, and undertones, but there are certainly many more that would suit!)

  1. NYX Flamingo — a cool-toned, matte pink
  2. Illamasqua Peaked — a cool-toned, pink-plum
  3. Tarina Tarantino Neopolitan Lane — a muted, rosy brown with a matte finish
  4. Makeup Geek Spellbound — a soft, warm-toned pink with a satin finish
  5. Make Up For Ever #310 — a medium, warm-toned pink

I love colorful eyeshadows, and there have been some interesting palettes that have released over the years! If you’re in the market for something that’s not just neutrals, you may want to check out some of these. Too Faced Pretty Rebel and Marc Jacobs Beauty The Siren both deserve honorable mentions; two of my favorites, but they are limited edition. I try to make these lists stand the test of time and avoid limited edition inclusions, but at this moment, both palettes are still available for purchase if they interest you. For now :)

  1. Sugarpill Cold Chemistry — a set of four, cool-toned shades
  2. bareMinerals The Elements — beige, orange, green, and blue for a particularly unique color combination
  3. Urban Decay Electric — for bold, bright near-neons
  4. Tarina Tarantino Fantastical — if you love purple, this one’s for you
  5. Sleek Sunset — bright golds, yellows, and coppers

With so many neutral palettes available these days, it can be hard to keep them all straight! These are my current favorites that are permanent…

  1. Urban Decay Naked — the original is still a go-to for travel for me, though I love Naked2 and Naked3 as well
  2. LORAC Pro Palette — 16 shades of neutrals from matte to shimmer
  3. Chanel Raffinement — smokier, cooler neutrals
  4. bareMinerals The Truth — cooler-toned, darker neutrals
  5. LORAC Unzipped — warm, shimmery pinks, browns, and bronzes
