NYX Electro HD Blush

NYX Electro HD Blush
NYX Electro HD Blush

NYX Electro HD Blush ($6.00 for 0.16 oz.) is bright, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. NARS Desire (P, $30.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Heavenly (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery, glossier (95% similar). Colour Pop Pegacorn (DC, $8.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). LORAC Vivid (P, $23.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Florida (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Colour Pop More, Please (LE, $8.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Savage (P, ) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Sephora I'm Shocked (09) (P, $14.00) is darker (90% similar). Colour Pop Pie (DC, $8.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Surratt Beauty Se Pomponner (P, $32.00) is lighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

It’s so nice when you find a budget-friendly product that really performs well! That is the case with Electro. It was richly pigmented paired with a soft, smooth consistency that was easily blended out along the edges for a diffused application. If you prefer subtler blush, I’d recommend using a fan brush or duo-fiber brush, which will allow you to apply less product, and a lighter hand, as a little does go a long way. On me, the blush wore well for eight hours before fading along the edges.

FORMULA SUMMARY | NYX’s newest blush formula is supposed to be a “high definition, lightweight blush that blends evenly” that is “vibrant and silky.” The texture tended to be on the more powdery side, but it sits well and doesn’t look powdery applied. Many shades have a more luminous finish to them where the shimmer is fine enough to create a glow, rather than a frosted finish (though a couple are quite shimmery). The formula blends fairly easily on the skin and has medium, buildable coverage with some being very pigmented right off the bat. The wear time is between seven and eight hours.

ColourPop Fast Lane, Zulu, Work Out, Maybe Creme Gel Liner & Colours

ColourPop Fast Lane Creme Gel Liner
ColourPop Fast Lane Creme Gel Liner

ColourPop Fast Lane Creme Gel Liner ($5.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as an “intense blackened teal.” It’s a muted, dark bluish-teal with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation in one pass with a lightly creamy consistency that didn’t tug at the lash line. The color wore well for eight hours on me before thinning. It is a little more teal-leaning than the pot version. Colour Pop Fast Lane (P, $6.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (95% similar). Christian Louboutin Beaute Deep Teal (P, $40.00) is cooler (95% similar). Urban Decay Street (P, $20.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). bareMinerals 1PM (LE, $15.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Smashbox Baller (P, $18.00) is cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Street (P, $22.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Sephora Suede Shoes (P, $10.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). MAC Shade (P, $16.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Revlon Emerald (P, ) is lighter, brighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Fast Lane Creme Gel Colour ($6.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as an “intense blackened teal.” It’s a dark, bluish-teal with cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It was richly pigmented with a creamy consistency that was easy to work with and didn’t look jagged on the edges when applied (I used a thin eyeliner brush). When I wore it on my lower lash line, it stayed on well for nine hours before smudging. Colour Pop Fast Lane (P, $5.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (95% similar). bareMinerals 1PM (LE, $15.00) is darker (95% similar). Christian Louboutin Beaute Deep Teal (P, $40.00) is cooler (95% similar). Smashbox Baller (P, $18.00) is cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Street (P, $22.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Sephora Suede Shoes (P, $10.00) is more shimmery, darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Shade (P, $16.00) is warmer (80% similar). Revlon Emerald (P, ) is lighter, brighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Zulu Creme Gel Liner ($5.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “vivid pastel sea foam green.” It’s a bright, light-medium aqua blue with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one stroke, and the consistency was creamy and smooth, so it glided on well, but it didn’t go on as evenly as I would have liked. On me, this shade starts to fade after seven hours. Colour Pop Zulu (P, $6.00) is darker (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M30 Matte Pastel Green (P, $21.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (90% similar). Stila Turquoise (P, $22.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Makeup Geek Mint (P, $9.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Zulu Baby Creme Gel Colour ($6.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “vivid pastel sea foam green.” It’s a bright, light-medium aqua blue with cool undertones and a matte finish. It is very similar in color to the pencil form, and it also performs similarly, just slightly better, as the texture was creamier and the product more pigmented. It wore well for eight hours. Colour Pop Zulu (P, $5.00) is lighter (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M30 Matte Pastel Green (P, $21.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (90% similar). Makeup Geek Mint (P, $9.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Stila Turquoise (P, $22.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Work Out Creme Gel Liner ($5.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “blackened forest green.” It’s a blackened green with hints of olive and an ultra-matte finish. This was moderately dry, which gave it a stiffer feel when used on the skin, so it tugged. It also looked jagged along the edges and needed to be smudged or cleaned-up to get a crisp edge. It lasted for seven hours on me. Colour Pop Work Out (P, $6.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Colour Pop Bustier (LE, $5.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Hunter (P, $24.00) is darker, warmer, glossier (85% similar). Urban Decay Cult (P, $20.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Colour Pop Bustier (LE, $6.00) is more shimmery, darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Work Out Creme Gel Colour ($6.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “blackened forest green.” It’s a deep, forest green with cool undertones and a matte finish. It is lighter, brighter, and more cool-toned (less brow/olive) compared to the pencil. It could have been creamier and smoother to work with, as it tended to skip if I wasn’t careful. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading. Colour Pop Work Out (P, $5.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Colour Pop Bustier (LE, $5.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Cult (P, $20.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Colour Pop Bustier (LE, $6.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (80% similar). Bobbi Brown Hunter (P, $24.00) is darker, warmer, glossier (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Maybe Creme Gel Liner ($5.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “vibrant grass green.” It’s a brightened, lime green with warm, yellow undertones and a cooler over-tone and a matte finish. This seemed a little more subdued and less yellow-based compared to the pot version. It had semi-sheer color payoff, which was buildable to truer color after two to three layers. This shade wore well for eight hours. Ardency Inn Grass (P, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Colour Pop Maybe (DC, $6.00) is darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Kush (P, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Maybe Creme Gel Colour ($6.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “vibrant grass green.” It’s a brightened, medium green with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. The pot’s consistency was drier than a lot of other shades I’ve tried, and it was harder to get good coverage that was even without really loading up the brush. This one was prone to flaking away instead of more evenly fading over time. Ardency Inn Grass (P, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). Colour Pop Maybe (DC, $5.00) is lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Kush (P, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

This was one of the more shimmery shades in the HD Blush round-up that I’ve tried so far. It’s definitely not frosted, though, and it has a very luminous sheen on the skin as the shimmer is fine. The blush was richly pigmented with a soft, silky texture that applied well to the skin and blended out with ease. It was just a smidgen powdery, but it was so much better than a lot of the other shades in the range! When I tested it, the color stayed on well for eight hours before fading.

It had good pigmentation, and finally, a shade that wasn’t terribly powdery. The consistency was still soft, smooth, and fairly blendable (but it takes some patience and a light touch to get even application). Crimson is quite pigmented with a soft shimmer to it that becomes more pronounced as you buff it into the skin. It wore well for eight hours on me.

ColourPop Piggy Bank, Cry Baby, Boots Creme Gel Liner & Colours

ColourPop Piggy Bank Creme Gel Liner
ColourPop Piggy Bank Creme Gel Liner

ColourPop Piggy Bank Creme Gel Liner ($5.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “vivid red violet.” It’s a medium-dark, pinky purple with warm undertones and a matte finish. So, this shade is “not recommended for the eye area.” Effectively, that kind of makes it a lip liner, I suppose. I wore it as such, and it was a little drying and clingy, but it lasted for six hours and was still going strong (just was not particularly comfortable). Colour Pop Piggy Bank (DC, $6.00) is darker (95% similar). Stila Violet (P, $22.00) is lighter (90% similar). Sephora Purple Stilettos (P, $10.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Makeup Geek Orchid (P, $9.00) is lighter, more muted, warmer (80% similar). L'Oreal Pure Purple (240) (P, $8.99) is more shimmery, cooler (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Piggy Bank Creme Gel Colour ($6.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “vivid red violet.” It’s a medium-dark, pinky purple with an ultra-matte finish. The texture was dry and harder to apply; it tended to skip and drag with really jagged edges even when I really loaded up a very fine eyeliner brush with product. This one is “not recommended for the eye area,” so I tested it as a lip liner, but it was pretty weird to do so as it was almost chalk-like on the lips. It seemed long-wearing from that test; these are the uncertain results you get when a product seems like one thing but is specifically not. Colour Pop Piggy Bank (DC, $5.00) is lighter (95% similar). Stila Violet (P, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). L'Oreal Pure Purple (240) (P, $8.99) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Sephora Purple Stilettos (P, $10.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Makeup Geek Orchid (P, $9.00) is lighter, more muted, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Cry Baby Creme Gel Liner ($5.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “cool-toned pastel lavender.” It’s a light-medium, lavender purple with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one stroke, but it had a drier texture that was harder to layer/build-up without it making the layer underneath it uneven. The color wore well for seven and a half hours. Colour Pop Cry Baby (P, $6.00) is darker (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M92 Matte Pastel Purple (P, $21.00) is darker (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Mist Me (P, $25.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Cry Baby Creme Gel Colour ($6.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “cool-toned pastel lavender.” It’s a light-medium, lavender purple with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good color payoff with a smooth, creamy consistency that glided on well without dragging. The dry down is quite matte, and the white base of this comes through a lot on my skin tone at that point. It lasted for eight hours on me. Colour Pop Cry Baby (P, $5.00) is lighter (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M92 Matte Pastel Purple (P, $21.00) is darker (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Mist Me (P, $25.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Boots Creme Gel Liner ($5.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “true hot pink.” It’s a bright, medium fuchsia pink with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation in a single stroke, and it had a lightly creamy texture that helped it apply smoothly without tugging on the skin. That being said, this shade was also “not recommended for the eye area.” I tested it as a lip liner, and it lasted for over six hours, but it was drying. Colour Pop Boots (DC, $6.00) is darker (95% similar). Sephora On Wednesdays We Wear Pink (P, $14.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Process Magenta (P, $16.00) is darker (80% similar). Urban Decay Woodstock (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (80% similar). Chanel Berry Lucky (LE, $29.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Boots Creme Gel Colour ($6.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “true hot pink.” It’s a bright, medium fuchsia pink with cool undertones and a matte finish. Again, this shade is “not recommended for the eye area.” I tried to use it as a lip liner, but there’s a dryness about the gel eyeliners when they are applied to lips that makes it feel less like a traditional lip liner (whereas the liner is comparable to a lip pencil). This had good pigmentation, and the consistency was lightly creamy without being too firm or dry in the pot. It seemed to wear a solid six to eight hours. Colour Pop Boots (DC, $5.00) is lighter (95% similar). Sephora On Wednesdays We Wear Pink (P, $14.00) is cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Woodstock (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Chanel Berry Lucky (LE, $29.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). MAC Process Magenta (P, $16.00) is darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

NYX Hamptons (19) HD Blush

NYX Hamptons HD Blush ($6.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a light-medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and a luminous sheen. MAC Lesson in Love (LE, $22.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). This blush had that unfortunate powdery consistency I have found all too common in this range, which is really the formula’s biggest downfall! (Such a shame, too!) The color payoff is mostly opaque, and it is easily sheered out or blended along the edges or built-up in layers without looking powdery on the skin. The color lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

FORMULA SUMMARY | NYX’s newest blush formula is supposed to be a “high definition, lightweight blush that blends evenly” that is “vibrant and silky.” The texture tended to be on the more powdery side, but it sits well and doesn’t look powdery applied.
