Sleek Makeup Pixie Pink & Pomegranate Blushes

Sleek Makeup Pixie Pink Blush
Sleek Makeup Pixie Pink Blush

Sleek Makeup Pixie Pink Blush ($6.99 for 0.27 oz.) is a brightened, light-medium cotton candy pink with strong, blue undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft and silky with some excess powder kicking up in the pan, but on the skin, the blush didn’t look powdery, which is where it counts the most. It was richly pigmented, and the silky quality of the powder made it easier to blend on the skin. I noticed it darkened on my skin, though if you are naturally drier, you may find it stays truer to the color in the pan. It wore for eight and a half hours before breaking down. NARS Roman Holiday (LE, $30.00) is darker. Colour Pop Mochi (P, $8.00) is warmer. Colour Pop Thumper (P, $8.00) is more muted. NYX Flamingo (P, $5.00) is . Urban Decay Quickie (LE, ) is darker. Milani Delizioso Pink (10) (P, $7.99) is darker. NARS Mistinguette (LE, $30.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Sleek Makeup Pomegranate Blush ($6.99 for 0.27 oz.) is a brightened, reddish-plum with cool, pink sheen and warmer, coppery undertones. It was very, very pigmented, so a little went a long way, and I’d recommend using a feathery brush with this and building up color to your desired intensity. Thankfully, the powder is soft, smooth, and blendable, which will make it easier to diffuse or sheer down the color if you’ve applied to much. It wore for nine hours before fading on me. NARS Dolce Vita (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, warmer. MAC Hot Nights (LE, $21.00) is darker, brighter, cooler. IT Cosmetics Magical in Mauve (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler. Colour Pop Cheerio (P, $8.00) is lighter, brighter. Tom Ford Beauty Pink Glow #5 (LE, $55.00) is warmer. Surratt Beauty Rougeur (P, $32.00) is less shimmery, darker. NARS Adoration (Right) (P, ) is lighter. IT Cosmetics Radiant in Rose (P, $24.00) is lighter, warmer. NARS Goulue (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, warmer. Kevyn Aucoin Neolita (P, $37.00) is less shimmery, warmer. NARS Soulshine #3 (LE, $30.00) is darker, warmer. MAC Sweet Samba (LE, $27.00) is lighter, warmer. theBalm Pinstripe (P, $22.00) is darker, warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Formula Summary: Sleek Makeup Blush ($6.99 for 0.27 oz.) is supposed to be “ultra long lasting” and “highly pigmented.” My experience with their blush formula has been true to both; they’re intensely pigmented and a little goes a long way. The powder’s texture is soft, smooth, and blendable on the skin. The finish varies from shade to shade, so some are more luminous while others can be very frosted and metallic. On my normal-to-dry skin, they last between eight and nine hours on me.

Maybelline Taupe With Me, Pink-a-boo, Life’s a Peach, Tickled Pink Baby Gloss Lipglosses

Maybelline Baby Lips Lipgloss
Maybelline Baby Lips Lipgloss

These next four Maybelline Baby Lips Lipglosses ($4.49 for 0.18 fl. oz.) are of the cream finish. The gloss is a new formula that’s supposed to be shiny, non-sticky, and hydrating for four hours with twelve shades divided into three finishes. The cream finish doesn’t go on quite as evenly and can pull into lip lines slightly, but the gloss is fairly thin so this isn’t too noticeable. The formula feels lightweight, mostly non-sticky (a very slight tackiness develops after two to three hours of wear), wears for one to three hours, and is comfortable and hydrating. There is a sweet, fruity-floral scent that tastes like perfume-y soap during the entire length of wear; I could taste it just talking to someone, and it ruined anything I ate or drank. They were comfortable to wear, though, and they don’t feel heavy and keep and maintain hydration going for an hour or two after most of the gloss has worn away. The formula is sheer (as it is supposed to be) with a lot of shades looking the same once applied, but they may vary wildly from person to person due to much of it being dependent on your natural lip color.

Maybelline Taupe with Me Baby Lips Lipgloss ($4.49 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a light-medium, peachy-orange with warm undertones and a cream finish. (There is nothing taupe-like about this shade.) It had sheer coverage that gave my lips a lighter, slightly warmer appearance without altering the color itself too much. It applied fairly evenly without emphasizing lip lines too noticeably. The gloss lasted for an hour and a half on me, which is short, so reapplication will be a must. Buxom White Russian (P, $19.00) is lighter. MAC Innocent (LE, $20.00) is lighter, brighter. MAC Boy Bait (P, $20.00) is darker. MAC On the Scene (LE, $20.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Maybelline Pink-a-boo Baby Lips Lipgloss ($4.49 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a very pale, milky pink with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had sheer coverage that noticeably lightened the look of my natural lip color and drew out the natural pink tones of it. There was some streaking, but it didn’t pull into lip lines too much. It lasted for two hours on me. Maybelline Pink Pizazz (P, $4.49) is lighter. NARS Turkish Delight (P, $26.00) is lighter, brighter. Chanel Rose Reve (189) (LE, $29.50) is lighter, brighter. NARS Tasmania (P, $26.00) is darker, brighter, warmer. MAC Picture Pink (LE, $15.00) is lighter, brighter, more pigmented. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Maybelline Life’s a Peach Baby Lips Lipgloss ($4.49 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a light-medium, pink-peach with a cream finish. Applied, this didn’t read very peach or warm-toned on me–it actually looked more like a milky, cool-toned pink against my natural lip color, but it will vary depending on what your natural lip actually is. It had semi-sheer coverage that applied evenly but did emphasize lip lines. It wore well for two and a half hours for me. MAC Talk Softly to Me (LE, $15.00) is darker. NARS Turkish Delight (P, $26.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer. Buxom White Russian (P, $19.00) is warmer. Too Faced Naked Dolly (LE, ) is warmer. NARS Tasmania (P, $26.00) is darker, warmer. MAC Flair for Finery (LE, $20.00) is darker. MAC Patience Please (P, $19.50) is more pigmented. Maybelline Passionate Peony (120) (LE, $8.99) is lighter, brighter, more pigmented. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Maybelline Tickled Pink Baby Lips Lipgloss ($4.49 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a light, milky pink with cool undertones and a cream finish. It had sheer coverage that went on somewhat evenly and didn’t emphasize lip lines too noticeably. The gloss was gone after an hour and a half of wear. Maybelline Pink Pizazz (P, $4.49) is lighter. NARS Nucleus (LE, $26.00) is lighter, brighter, more pigmented, warmer. MAC Wanting More (LE, $15.00) is lighter, brighter, more pigmented. NARS International Velvet (LE, $26.00) is more pigmented, cooler. See comparison swatches/ compare dupes side-by-side.

NYX Prismatic Eyeshadows (Part 1)

NYX Prismatic Shadow
NYX Prismatic Shadow

NYX Prismatic Shadow ($6.00 for 0.043 oz.) is a “fully pigmented” powder eyeshadow formula designed to have a “brilliant metallic” finish and is available in twelve shades. This post covers six of the twelve, with the other six to be reviewed shortly. Overall, the formula had good color payoff ranging from semi-opaque to opaque with soft, blendable textures that could get a little powdery and had a fair amount of fall out during application, while the wear was typically between seven and eight hours (no primer). I don’t think they’re truly metallic, but they have a good sheen but with more noticeable sparkle/shimmer, so I think they tended to look more frosted than truly metallic. Worth noting, I had originally purchased all twelve from Ulta online, and about half of them arrived broken. I ended up returning those and then purchasing directly from NYX, and only one (Tin) was broken. The formula seems particularly fragile as they are softly pressed into the compacts, so they crumble easily.

NYX Bedroom Eyes Prismatic Shadow ($6.00 for 0.043 oz.) is described as a “deep brown metallic.” It’s a medium-dark, bronzy brown with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. The texture was incredibly soft and almost crumbly, so it can be a little powdery to work with. It had good color coverage and blended easily on the skin. The wear came in at eight hours before fading. MAC Twinks (P, $16.00) is less shimmery, darker. Inglot #421 (P, $6.00) is darker. Chanel Charming #3 (LE, ) is less shimmery. Milani Intermix (P, $6.99) is darker. MAC Her Cocoa #4 (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery, darker. MAC Her Cocoa #4 (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery, darker. Clarins The Essentials #7 (LE, ) is darker. Dior Cuir Cannage #4 (P, ) is lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Spice (LE, $42.00) is less shimmery. Anastasia Gilded (LE, $12.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Kat Von D Nephilim (LE, ) is lighter. First 15 dupes listed, see more: See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

NYX Fireball Prismatic Shadow ($6.00 for 0.043 oz.) is described as a “rusty orange with red opalescence.” It’s a medium-dark, reddish-copper with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It had excellent color coverage with a soft, smooth texture that blended really easily on the skin. There was slight dryness/powderiness to it in the pan, but it didn’t look that way applied. The color started to fade after eight hours of wear. Le Metier de Beaute Innocence (DC, $30.00) is less shimmery, darker. MAC Brash (LE, $16.00) is darker. MAC Coppering (P, $16.00) is less shimmery. MAC Magnetic Attraction (LE, $21.00) is darker. MAC Star Myth (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery. Sleek MakeUP Sunset #3 (P, $9.99) is darker. MAC Gingersnap (P, $16.00) is less shimmery. It had good pigmentation with a fairly soft, blendable texture that was less powdery compared to other shades in the range. It applied well and stayed in place for eight hours. Inglot #397 (P, $6.00) is darker, warmer. Le Metier de Beaute Nouvelle (LE, $30.00) is darker. MAC Naked Lunch (P, $16.00) is less shimmery, warmer. Urban Decay Sin (P, $18.00) is warmer. It had very nearly opaque coverage with a lightly powdery, but fairly blendable, texture that sat well on the lid. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before fading. Urban Decay Freelove (P, $18.00) is less shimmery. Inglot #407 (P, $6.00) is darker, warmer. Makeup Geek Cosmopolitan (P, $5.99) is darker, warmer. Gucci Beauty Autumn Fire #2 (P, ) is less shimmery. MAC Mortal #3 (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker. Colour Pop Shark Attack (P, $5.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Anastasia China Rose (P, $12.00) is darker, warmer. NYX Punk Heart Prismatic Shadow ($6.00 for 0.043 oz.) is described as a “deep plum with purple shimmer.” It’s a medium-dark, plummy purple with warm, reddish-brown undertones and a frosted finish. It had fairly good pigmentation with a drier, powdery texture that was blendable and adhered well to the skin for the most part, but it was a bit messy to work with and faded after seven hours of wear. Sleek Makeup Antique & Rose Gold Blushes

Sleek Makeup Antique Blush
Sleek Makeup Antique Blush

Sleek Makeup Antique Blush ($6.99 for 0.27 oz.) is a subdued, plummy brown with soft, warm undertones and silver micro-glitter over a more satiny finish. It had excellent color payoff with a soft, smooth, and blendable consistency that sat well on the skin without emphasizing pores. The micro-glitter isn’t too detectable unless you’re looking up-close in a mirror, and a lot of it seems to disappear between the pan, brush, and face. On me, this shade lasted for nine hours before fading slightly. NYX Taupe (P, $5.00) is less shimmery, cooler. MAC Earthshine (LE, $30.00) is more shimmery, darker. MAC Plum Foolery (P, $21.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler. Giorgio Armani Light Rose (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer. Chanel Accent (84) (LE, $45.00) is lighter, warmer. MAC Crazed Imagination (LE, $21.00) is darker. Surratt Beauty La Vie En Rose (P, $32.00) is lighter, warmer. MAC Animal Instincts (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery, lighter. MAC Corol #2 (LE, $21.00) is lighter, warmer. MAC Lavish Living (LE, $27.00) is more shimmery, cooler. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Sleek Makeup Rose Gold Blush ($6.99 for 0.27 oz.) is a warm, medium pink base color with a mega-ton of frosted, gold shimmer. The pigmentation was rich with a very soft, buttery texture that was so soft that it was almost crumbly if you weren’t careful. I had better luck applying in sheerer layers. The higher shimmer content in the finish did emphasize pores to a moderate degree when applied. It wore well for eight hours before fading. Tom Ford Beauty Pink Sand (LE, $65.00) is less shimmery. Too Faced Who’s Your Poppy (LE, ) is less shimmery, warmer. Too Faced Something About Berry (P, $30.00) is less shimmery. Tarte Glisten (P, $26.00) is warmer. bareMinerals The Natural High (P, $22.00) is darker, warmer. Guerlain Blush G (LE, $65.00) is less shimmery. Charlotte Tilbury Love Glow (P, $40.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Giorgio Armani Eccentrico (LE, $88.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Guerlain Peach Boy #2 (P, ) is less shimmery, darker, more muted. MAC Springsheen (P, $21.00) is less shimmery. NARS Orgasm (P, $30.00) is lower quality, more shimmery.

NYX Highlight & Contour Palette

NYX Highlight & Contour Palette
NYX Highlight & Contour Palette

NYX Highlight & Contour Palette ($25.00 for 0.72 oz.) is a set of four highlight powders and four contour powders. All of the shades included in the palette can be purchased individually, and the palette is refillable, so shades can be removed or rearranged. The only downside is that they don’t sell the palette empty, and there are two additional highlight powder shades (Bone, Soft Peach) and two additional contour powder shades (Sienna, Saddle) available as singles (each single is $5.00). I liked that two of the four highlighters had some shimmer to them, so for those who like a little sheen to their highlight, you’ll have those options, and you can always tamp down the satiny sheen by dusting one of the more matte highlight powders on top to stretch out the others if you like less shimmer. The contours all had a semi-matte to satin finish, so none were totally matte, and they looked natural on the skin without looking too shimmery or too flat. I had some trouble blending out the contour shades at times, and I had the best luck by applying with a more feathery brush to lay down the general outline of the contour, and then going back to darken as needed. The highlight shades are soft and smooth but powdery.

Highlight Powders

Ice Queen is described as a “pearly pale white.” It’s a very light, cool-toned white with a frosted finish. It had semi-opaque coverage that was buildable to fully opaque color if desired, though it’s likely a shade worn more diffused for most, so luckily, it blends out quite easily. It just slightly emphasizes pores if I’m not careful or don’t buff it out enough. It lasted for eight hours on me. Cle de Peau Pastel (11) (P, $55.00) is less shimmery, darker. L’Oreal Ice (P, $12.99) is cooler. LORAC Shimmer Highlight (P, ) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Soft Light is described as a “matte nude.” It’s a very light, white-beige that is fairly neutral in undertone paired with a matte finish. The texture was soft and smooth but noticeably powdery. This looked chalky against my medium skin tone, so it is probably better mixed with one of the contours or for fairer skin tones than mine. The coverage was semi-opaque and slightly buildable, but with how powdery it was, it tended to sheer out if you blended out the edges at all. It started to fade after seven hours. NARS Highlight (P, ) is warmer. Kat Von D Lucid (P, ) is darker, warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Cream is described as a “matte soft yellow.” It’s a soft, buttery yellow with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had good pigmentation with a really soft, smooth consistency that was easy to blend and apply to the skin, though it was powdery in the pan. On me, it started to fade after seven and a half hours. Dolce and Gabbana Eva (P, $51.00) is lighter. Kat Von D Lyric (P, ) is lighter, cooler. LORAC Yellow Highlight (P, ) is lighter, cooler. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Nectar is described as a “pearly soft peach.” It’s a light-medium, yellowed peach with warm undertones and a soft, frosted shimmer. It was less frosted compared to Ice Queen. The texture was soft, blendable, and slightly powdery/dry but didn’t appear dry on the skin. The shimmer didn’t emphasize the skin’s natural texture or pores. It wore well for seven and a half hours before turning a little patchy/faded. IT Cosmetics Hello Light (P, $24.00) is more shimmery. MAC Star! (LE, ) is more shimmery. Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment (Original) (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Contour Powders

Tan is described as a “matte soft brown with slight red undertones.” It’s a medium-dark brown with warm, reddish undertones and a satin finish. It had good pigmentation with a smoother texture that was slightly firmer to the touch, and it could have been a little more blendable on the skin. I started noticing fading after eight hours of wear. NYX Sculpt (P, $5.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer. Urban Decay Toasted (P, $26.00) is darker, warmer. Marc Jacobs Beauty Contour (P, ) is less shimmery, lighter. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil (P, ) is lighter, warmer. MAC Sculpt (P, $16.50) is less shimmery, lighter. MAC Matte Bronze (LE, $70.00) is lighter. MAC Matte Bronze (LE, $70.00) is lighter. Colour Pop Poolside (P, $8.00) is more shimmery, warmer. Smashbox Bronze (P, ) is less shimmery, lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Toffee is described as a “matte neutral brown.” It’s a muted, medium brown with warm, yellow undertones and a satin sheen. This was one of the more shimmery contour shades (it’s not matte at all!). The color payoff was fully opaque, while the texture was smooth without being powdery. It lasted for eight hours on me. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil (P, ) is less shimmery, lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Contour (P, ) is less shimmery. Too Faced Dark Cocoa (P, ) is lighter. Colour Pop Paradise Cove (P, $8.00) is more shimmery, lighter. Colour Pop Poolside (P, $8.00) is more shimmery, lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Sculpt is described as a “matte taupe.” It’s a muted, medium-dark brown with a hint of gray overtones but the stronger, more orange undertones made it look warmer and browner. It had a very slight satin sheen, but it was the more matte of the four contour shades in the palette. It had good color payoff with a soft, silky texture that was a smidgen powdery. This shade blended fairly well on the skin, and it wore for eight hours. NARS Paloma Contour (P, ) is lighter, warmer. MAC Matte Bronze (P, $25.00) is lighter, warmer. MAC Sculpt (P, $16.50) is warmer. MAC Matte Bronze (LE, $70.00) is lighter, warmer. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze (P, ) is more shimmery, lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze (P, ) is more shimmery, lighter. Kat Von D Shadowplay (P, ) is lighter, warmer. NYX Tan (P, $5.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Hollow is described as a “matte deep brown.” It’s a medium-dark brown with warm, reddish-orange undertones and a satin finish. It had good pigmentation with a slightly firmer consistency, which made blending more challenging than desired. Once on, it stayed put for eight hours. Kat Von D Subconscious (P, ) is less shimmery. LORAC Deep Contour (P, ) is cooler, better quality. Marc Jacobs Beauty Contour (P, ) is lighter, warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Succulent & Mars Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks

ColourPop Succulent Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick
ColourPop Succulent Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick

ColourPop Succulent Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a vibrant, tomato red with warm, orange undertones and a very matte finish. It had nice color coverage that applied fairly evenly, though it is slightly thinner and dries down quickly, there is enough payoff that the streaking is very subtle (but there’s some on my upper lip, as working around the curves of the upper lip takes a little more time than the lower lip for me). The color wore for ten hours before I took it off, and it was fairly intact but had some fading from the center after a meal and loses a lot of its transfer-resistant quality as soon as you eat/drink (even just coffee). Tom Ford Beauty Flame (06) (P, $50.00) is lighter, brighter, glossier. Maybelline Craving Coral (P, $7.99) is lighter, glossier. Kat Von D Countess (P, $21.00) is warmer, glossier. MAC Mangrove (LE, $16.00) is glossier. MAC Scarlet Ibis (LE, $16.00) is glossier. MAC Dangerous (P, $16.00) is warmer, glossier. MAC Lady Danger (P, $16.00) is lighter, warmer, glossier. Hourglass Raven (P, $28.00) is glossier. Anastasia American Doll (P, $20.00) is better quality, more muted, warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Mars Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a brightened, medium-dark fuchsia-red with warm undertones and a very flat, matte finish. It had rich color coverage, and the texture wasn’t too thin or too thick, so it applied smoothly and evenly without streaking. There is very subtle flaking initially that I don’t even notice unless I’m looking for it, and a little color will rub off if you pat your lips with your fingertip, but after an hour, it seems to stop. On me, it lasted for ten hours with fading that began closer to the center of the mouth but wasn’t too apparent as it left a stain as it faded, which camouflaged some of it breaking down over time. It was lightly drying after six hours of wear and was more noticeably drying after eight hours. MAC Moxie (LE, $16.00) is cooler. Colour Pop Toucan (P, $5.00) is warmer, glossier. MAC All Fired Up (P, $16.00) is glossier. MAC Pleasure Bomb (LE, $16.00) is glossier. Kat Von D Berlin (P, $19.00) is lighter, warmer. Maybelline All Fired Up (P, $7.99) is warmer, glossier. Colour Pop Cougar (LE, $5.00) is glossier. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Formula Summary: ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a long-wearing, pigmented lipstick that starts off glossy and dries down quickly to that super flat matte finish. They have minimal transfer with some of the lighter shades having almost none for the first few hours of wear, but any time you’ve had a meal, they lose that transfer-resistant quality to a noticeable degree. They tend to wear anywhere from six to ten hours with darker shades maintaining better color coverage and wear over a longer period of time. Some shades get a little drying about two-thirds to three-fourths through the wear, while a few shades have been fairly non-drying even many hours into wear. They fade away evenly with most color loss occurring from the center of the lips if eating a more oil-based meal but the majority of color survives a meal. Reapplication has been hit or miss and tends to depend on how well it wore away and how easily the shade applies normally, but reapplication tends to emphasize the lip’s natural texture significantly compared to initial application and gives lips a very wrinkled, dried-up look. I’ve layered gloss on top of some shades with moderate success, though it will obviously lose the matte finish and will transfer and I’ll get tiny flakes where the matte lip color has lifted by mixing with gloss but has been pretty minimal. The formula had no discernible taste or scent. After playing with the packaging and the tubes, it appears that about 16 of the 25 shades I received were significantly overfilled and had regular overflow of liquid lipstick coming out of them for about 15 open-and-closes where I needed to use a makeup removing wipe to clean the rim of the tube prior to closing or else the lipstick would ooze out of the closing. I have not had this issue with any of my other liquid lipsticks (Anastasia, Hourglass, Kat Von D, Make Up For Ever, Stila) personally, though readers reported experiencing similar issues with Anastasia and the previous Kat Von D packaging.
