Embrace your femininity this holiday season in a stunning pink-beige wrap dress with a demure length and puffy sleeves. If you haven’t heard of NARS’ famous Orgasm blush, then we are happy to enlighten you! Orgasm is a cult beauty favorite, and The Multiple in Orgasm is taking that cult favorite to the next level. Apply this cream stick on the apples of the cheeks for a lovely winter flush, just a touch pink with subdued shimmer. We love the eyes with a wash of pink eyeshadow all over the lid, deep warm brown in the crease, and a light yellow-beige to highlight the browbone–all acn be accomplished in Smashbox’s Head Shot trio. It’s time to be a bit bold with the lips, and we are loving Cardinal lipstick from MAC’s Red Lip palette. Finish with the accompanying gloss (peachy-beige) for a great downplayed glossy red.

Of course, there are always alternative ways to beautify a dress, and we were nearly so torn on what to do with this lovely number. A sultry smoky eye would do no injustice to it, especially when paired with pink-nude lips with lots of glossiness. If red lips are too much, try blotting after applying the lipstick, then add the lipgloss–you’ll have a pink-stained pout with just a hint of red underlying it. Neutral dresses like these really suit a variety of looks, and we have only given you two variations.
How would you wear your makeup with this dress?
Winter-white matched with feminity for a perfect combination of beauty. Pair this gorgeous coat (at a greatprice, if I do say so myself!) with smokey eyes, soft pink lips, and cheeks that are just a touch rosy, with gold undertones. Laura Mercier’s Mosaic Shimmer Block Blush offers a darling quad with shimmery white, beige, taupe, and rose. Apply the rose hue to apples of cheeks and highilght with the beige color on cheeks, forehead, and chin. For eyes, MAC’s Smoky Eye Palette is a great way to go about doing it. Try any of the lighter colors all over the lid, and use one of the deepest colors for the very outer crease and lid, and blend to perfection. For lips, we like a neutral, slightly shimmery lipstick, like Shu Uemura’s Lolishine lipstick.

2. Laura Mercier Mosaic Shimmer Block Blush @ Nordstrom for $38.00
3. MAC Metallic Eyes Palette @ Nordstrom for $36.00
4. Shu Uemura Lolishine Lipstick @ Nordstrom for $20.00
The coat says it all; you’re bound to attract eyes with such a light colored coat. It needs little makeup to complete the look, but you can always add a bold red lip with lots of black mascara for a more dramatic, night-on-the-town kind of face. Just a slight smokey eye can be perfect for both day and night, which is why we chose to go for versatile rather than aimed at a particular time in the day. Just be careful what you eat, where you sit, and where you lay this coat!
Find your inner golden goddess this holiday season while you look like a Grecian princess in this darilng deep pink dress with gold detailing. We think all you need to take it from gorgeous to perfection is Yves Saint Laurent’s “White Gold” Celebration Palette, which features Tender Rose blush, Starry Rose highlighter, three eyeshadows (Heavenly Beige, Magic Copper, and Moonlit Burgundy), and three lip colors (Pure Garnet, Natural Beige, and Bohemia Rose), and Simply Gold Gloss. We recommend Magic Copper all over lid with Moonlit Burgundy in the crease and Heavenly Beige to highlight the brow. You could even try the Starry Rose highlighter if it isn’t too shimmery for your taste as a brow highlighter! Be sure to swipe on Tender Rose blush on the apples of your cheeks, while applying Starry Rose on your cheekbones, forehead, and chin for added radiance. Dust shoulders and d colletage with Starry Rose to really distract the male variety wherever you go! For luscious lips, we’re feeling Bohemia Rose with Simply Gold gloss patted on top for shimmery lips with gold sparkles.

2. Yves Saint Laurent “White Gold” Celebration Palette @ Nordstrom for $67.00
This look is all about playing with golds and bronzes, keeping the face fairly natural and tame; the dress is bold and eye-catching on its own. To add more oomph to your look, try a pair of false lashes–not too dramatic–to achieve it without taking away from the rest. It’s important to give your face and body a healthy dose of “glow.” We love Jergen’s shimmery glow lotion, and we also love dusting beauty powders (like Peach Haze from MAC) along shoulders. Play up features, but this look is meant to compliment the dress while keeping the dress the central piece of the evening (we just think it’s gorgeous, don’t you?). If you must go ultra-glam, pump up the eyes with a truer gold like MAC’s Goldmine, but we think peachy-coral and rosy lips suit this dress best!
What do you think?
Sultry and bold, dazzle in this black velveteen coat ($138.00) by complimenting it with a pair of luscious deep raspberry red lipstick in Rouge Dior by Dior ($26.00). Add a touch of flush by dusting on a minute amount of pink blush and a more generous dusting of shimmery brown, like in Bobbi Brown’s blush palette ($35.00). Try a glowy bronze like Peachytwist by MAC if you’re feeling less pink that day. Keep eyes simple or go ultra-dramatic with MAC’s Smokey Eye Palette ($36.00). Go bold with a gray smokey eye, or go subtle with a soft wash of Maid of Honor (creamy beige) all over lid and Palatial (taupe) in the crease for definition. Spend time to perfect the skin to give it a good all-over-glow and utilize contouring to streamline the face and give it a natural appearance.

It’s all about playing up the lips with this coat, which is why we chose such a vibrant red by Dior–and the skin, oh the skin, it needs to be soft, velvety, and absolutely flawless. The combination of the lips and the skin will give you an enviable appearance everywhere you go.

With all of the holidays comin’ around the bend, it is also the time to gather with friends, family, and loved ones, which means travel. Whether you’re traveling for a few days or a few weeks, by plane or car or foot, you’re going to want to bring a few items of beauty necessity along with you, right? Now, when you go by plane, it is important to observe the 3 oz or less rule for all liquids, and all liquids must fit within a quart-size clear, plastic bag. Otherwise, it’s about how much you want to carry.I remember the first time I traveled for a week after becoming a beauty junkie, and I also remebering lugging far too much through the airport (a whole carryon’s worth – this was pre-liquid restrictions). It is important consider what kind of makeup and how much of it you really need when traveling, but I also love travel-size sets for when you want to bring everything, but those big bottles just don’t do it for you. Here are some of my favorites (though all those holiday gift sets are also perfect for travel, most often, but hey, if you haven’t gotten your holiday loot yet, try these!):
Philosophy “All-Stars” Travel Set is a perfect way to keep all your skincare organized and in mini-size. You’ll find Hope in a Jar, Hope in a Tube, Shear Splendor Shampoo, Shear Splendor Conditioner, and Kiss Me Red. Not a bad way to go for $35.00. Available at Nordstrom.com. Continue reading →
