Dubbed Eyes by Design, the line will be sold exclusively on HSN and both companies hope the collection will reinvigorate that category.

Jane Hudis, president and founder of BeautyBank, said, “Research showed that the eye category is where women lack the greatest confidence — they want to experiment and play around but don’t have the confidence to do so.” She added that the objective was to allow women to experiment in the comfort of their own homes.

Hudis also sees this as a pivotal time for the industry, especially in terms of retailing. Companies are shifting in their thinking from being “distribution-centric to consumer-centric,” she asserted.

You know, I’ve never bought something via the TV.  I’ve hardly ever watched HSN or any of the shopping channels (in fact, I used to have them blocked, ha!).  What about you?  Do you dig channels like HSN (well, at least they have a website, too!), or are you a brick and mortar kind of gal?

Kings & Queens Shimmering Body Milk ($11.00) is intringuing if only for the fact that it seems so cheap to be carried by Nordstrom. It is a Nordstrom Exclusive, and it is something put by Korres. With summer coming up, I am all about shimmering whatnots. Also, I’m a bit of an Egypt buff, so all the talk about Egyptian lotus got me curious!

Lancôme Star Bronzer ($50.00) has this gorgeous palette design of a cherub and sun. It’s hard to resist just for the sake of how pretty it looks, but it’s one of those things that you’ll buy and rarely use for fear of ruining the design.

Guerlain Eye Pencil Glides ($27.00) are highly pigmented gel pencils, and they’re supposed to be able to withstand “wind and tide” aka humidity. Hmm. Comes with a sharpener (score!). I’m soo interested in these. But $27?!

Lancôme Color Design Palette ($43.00) is gorgeous! I actually have this (not in the pretty quad, though) from a lab sample Lancome sent over, and it is such a gorgeous foursome. Just really bronzy and golden, love it! The one pictured is Cabana Sunset, but Cabana Sunrise has pinks and browns (equally nice looking).

All of these are currently available at Nordstrom.com.

Have you tried any of these? What’d you think? What new beauty product caught your eye?

Found this little video with a nice tagline of “Go With Your Own Glow,” which I think is a fabulous motto.  With the summer months ahead of us, I hope everyone breaks out the SPF (though really, you should have it out 24/7/365!) and slathers themselves in it.  Learn more at www.skincancer.org.

How do I like to spend my Friday afternoon?  Perusing online retailers looking for things that might catch my eye (and deliberately not researching for my legal writing final!). Nordstrom.com is a bad, bad place to stop at if you’re trying not to spend money.  It’s hard not to find something worth splurging on (um, hello, shoe department?).  Here are some drool-worthy products I came across in my weekly perusal…  Do note that I haven’t tried these, merely wished to!

1.  TanTowel® Full Body Application - Classic (Single) ($4.00) is by (newcomer?) TanTowel, which surely has a slew of new products advertised on Nordstrom’s.  I’m interested in the idea of single-servings of self-tanner, and it seems like they have a thorough offering of self-tanning products (exfoliators to tanners).  I also think $4.00 makes it a GREAT chance for people to try out self-tanning without spending heaps.

2.  Juicy Couture Roller Ball Set ($60.00) looks absolutely adorable in its pastel pink and brown box, and I love mesome roll on perfumes.  Seems kind of cheap and 12-year-old at first, but it is so convenient.  Toss into your purse and go and never worry!  I use perfume pretty sparingly, so I don’t need full jars of fragrances for the most part; so a nice set of six miniature roller balls suits me fine.

3.  Tom Ford for Men Shower Gel ($30.00) makes me want to take about five showers a day.  I adore this scent, even though I’m fully aware that it’s for men.  I just don’t care, I like it.  It’s a dark, intense scent, and I wish my boyfriend wore cologne, so I could smell it more often.  I just may put this on my wish list so at least I can shower in it.

4.  Juicy Couture ‘Dirty English’ Eau de Toilette (52.00 to $70.00) is a men’s scent, and I haven’t taken a whiff, but the bottle caught my eye.  At first, I saw these packets of black with the same symbol over it, which looked awesome.  Then I saw these bottles, and I was like, they should have darkened or made this fragrance look clear…  This orange-ish color isn’t working for me.  Did I ever mention that I love bottles?  If only I was a liquor fan, I could collect some of the more exotic liquor bottles…  Ah, well, I guess I’ll settle for perfume.

5.  Annick Goutal ‘Petite Chérie’ Eau de Parfum ($230.00) is my “I would love it, but I could never afford it” item for the week.  I’m totally tempted by the darling bottle, because I love that springy teal-green, and the angel on top works for me.  But oh-so-very-expensive, which means I will definitely be sure to take a sniff next time I’m at Norstrom’s, and perhaps put one of those fragrance tester sticks into my purse since I won’t be getting my hands on a bottle of this!

6.  Lancôme Dual End Liner & Shadow: Brush #18 ($30.00) looks to be a multi-tasker’s dream.  Get your angled brush (brows, liner) on one end with another brush to help with shadow application on the other end.  It just sounds too good to be true.  I would say that while you might be able to apply shadow, you may not find it a blending brush in the least.  For a girl who likes to do it all with the 239, not sure if this entices me enough to buy it.  I sure do like that it’s double-edged… but wait, how do you store it?  I store all mine standing up!

What are new beauty have you spotted and been tempted by this past week?  Try any of mine?  Make sure to share the low down with me!

I love seeing what’s new in beauty, and I have to tell you a little secret–I indulge myself by checking out Nordstrom’s “What’s New” section in their Beauty & Fragrance section of their website. So here are some picks of products that caught my eyes when I perusing through the pages this afternoon…

  • 1. Bliss ‘Steep Clean’ Mask ($54.00) is supposed to transform your t-zone into an amazingly clean scene.
  • 2. Clinique Almost Powder SPF 15 ($22.50) is an awesome lightweight powder (I’ve tried it & loved it for on-the-go).
  • 3. L’Occitane ‘Lavender Harvest’ Moisturizing Hand Lotion ($16.00) sounds like a dream for this blogger’s dry hands.
  • 4. Too Faced ‘Tanning Bed in a Tube’ for the Face ($21.50) makes me long for summer with its care free design (check out that girl and the flowers).

  • 1. Guerlain ‘Terracotta’ Sunless Self-Tanning Spray ($50.00) reveals that just about everyone is getting into the self-tanning market.
  • 2. Guerlain ‘Terracotta’ Tajine Eyeshadow ($35.00) makes me whimper at its price, but boy is the packaging sleek. It comes in Blonde Metal, Brunette Metal, and Dark Metal.
  • 3. Lancome ‘Color Ideal Illuminateur’ Sheer Highlighting Fluid ($37.00) is a highlighter version of their popular Color Ideal foundation. Bronze? I think you know I want you!
  • 4. Clinique ‘Even Better’ Skin Tone Corrector ($39.50) promises to help even out your skin by reducing sun damage, dark patches, age spots, and even darkening as a result of acne scars. I actually have this in my bathroom (testing it!), but I sure wish results came faster than 4-6 weeks.

Have you tried any of these? What new beauty item(s) are you lemming?  Get these and more at Nordstrom.com.

It will be interesting to see how Allure Magazine does a spa!

Allure magazine plans to launch this fall a spa-oriented offshoot publication called Allure Spa. Billed as a guide to the luxury spa experience, Allure Spa will cover skin care, fitness, fashion, nutrition and lifestyle trends at destination and day spas. The magazine also will explore hotel and resort spas, as well as medi-spas, and aims to tap industry experts to present consumers with an insider point of view. Allure editor in chief Linda Wells also will be in charge of Allure Spa. Allure is owned by Condé Nast Publications, parent of WWD.

Catherine Zeta-Jones isn’t just the face of Arden, but she is a stockholder as well–but you won’t see a signature fragrance from her by Arden any time soon.

What the deal is not likely to yield, despite Arden’s prowess in the celebrity fragrance market, is a Catherine Zeta-Jones fragrance. “We’ve made a conscious decision about that, because I am the face and spokesperson for Arden,” she said. “I think we’re all in unison that if it’s not broke, why fix it.” Also, she noted about endorsements, “Things have completely changed. It used to be, if you’re an actor, why are you selling stuff? People only used to do it in Japan. But beauty is an industry that makes complete sense for an actress.”

Haven’t heard of this brand, but maybe it’s time I did!

The Thymes is leaping into the prestige beauty market this spring with the launch of Beauty of Bathing, a new brand inspired by fragrance traditions and bathing rituals from around the world. “We wanted to reinvent and modernize ancient bathing rituals for today’s women and create something that’s more high-end and luxurious,” said Amy Backman, The Thymes marketing manager. “By creating a more exclusive line, we’re raising the bar by creating a high-end bathing line.”

Looks like the trend of mineral makeup is definitely on the upswing…

Armed with its new owner’s resources, Colorescience is aiming to solidify its position as doctors’ top choice for mineral makeup.

I’m sure we have some Carmindy fans in these parts, so get ready for a partnership between Sally Hansen and Carmindy for a Natural Beauty line of makeup.

Sally Hansen is going the natural route and bringing a friend.  Rather than just introduce a natural collection of cosmetics, Del Cosmetics partnered with Carmindy, the resident makeup artist on TLC’s “What Not to Wear.” Carmindy is known for her knack for highlighting women’s natural assets. Natural Beauty marks Sally Hansen’s second stab at color cosmetics — the brand launched the now defunct Healing Beauty line in 2003.

Oooh, who doesn’t get intrigued when MUFE comes out with more color products?  Known for their incredibly pigmented products, I, for one, am quite interested!  Plus, their lashes are amazing!

Paris-based professional makeup brand Make Up For Ever is about to embark on an eye campaign called Lash Pimpin’, which aims to lengthen lashes and also offer highly pigmented eye makeup to the masses.

Faux Lashes, the lash part of the company’s mission, offers 55 lashes in different shapes and lengths, which are intended to fill out sparse lashes. They are handmade from nylon and come with a special adhesive. Each lash is reusable.

The color part of the campaign is Flash Color, which until now was only available to professionals. The creamy, easy-to-blend color pots are available in 24 shades. Both Faux Lashes and Flash Color are available beginning this month on sephora.com, as well as in Sephora, for $14 and $17, respectively.

Love yourself some JT?  Make your man smell like the fragrance he is endorsing for Givenchy!  Although, the fact that he wasn’t involved in development, and only “approved” it via a final sniff test makes me a little disappointed.  Love Givenchy, so I’m not worried it won’t smell good, but I wish he’d have a bigger part in it than just putting his face out there!

Parfums Givenchy plans to bring sexy back to its scent portfolio by tapping Justin Timberlake to front a men’s fragrance, which will bow in the fall.

Have you tried any Korres products?  I haven’t, can you believe it?

Korres Natural Products is gearing up to expand its color collection, which was introduced in October at its Manhattan store, to some 22 Sephora stores. The Korres Color Collection launched on sephora.com late last year, doubling sales, according to the company. In keeping with Korres’ homeopathic heritage, formulas contain Greek flora herbs and herbs said to have pharmaceutical properties, and food and natural ingredients. The products are also free of petroleum derivatives and propylene glycol. The collection ranges from lip butters and glosses to foundation and color.

Congrats to Clinique!  We told you about their QVC debut last Sunday, and I hope some of you managed to tune in!

Clinique’s latest offerings, which were launched on QVC on Sunday, marked the largest such two-hour beauty event in the channel’s 21-year history. More than 41,000 units were ordered and six products sold out. Allen Burke, director of beauty merchandising for QVC, said, “Sunday’s debut exceeded all of our expectations and represented a landmark event in the beauty industry.”
