Here are just a few things out of many that I’m incredibly thankful for that I thought I would share with you all.
Friends & Family who support my dreams and goals; who push me when I want to give up; who love me even when I do.
A boyfriend who understands me in ways even I don’t understand myself; who keeps me from going crazy by doing all of the back-end work for Temptalia; who loves me as flawed as I am.
Readers who give me reasons upon reasons to keep blogging. This blog could not exist without such a dedicated and enthusiastic reader base! Your participation and support are vital to our success.
Blogging because it gives me a creative outlet and keeps me writing everyday.
Mellan for all of his crazy antics and puppy behavior–he keeps me young and teaches me not to be so serious.
Beauty brands for their support in helping provide Temptalia readers with the latest products and news, not to mention their product donations for contests and giveaways!
A few of you asked for a better preview for Temptalia’s first book, so here it is! :) Pictured is the first printed copy of the book! I also noticed a few lovely ladies asked about getting a signed copy — if you are interested in a signed copy, please send me an email at temptalia@gmail.com to let me know, and I will let you know the details! For non-signed copies and/or the e-book version, please visit our store. Thanks everyone! :)
I have some very exciting news to share with you all! It’s a project that has been in the works since January: Beyond Beauty: Look Compilation. A few readers have flattered me enormously by going through my looks and printing some of their favorites out, and I had several suggest making an e-book/book of my looks available. I’m so pleased to be able to say you can now order your very own copy of Beyond Beauty: Look Compilation.
It features a compilation of looks from the past two years. It does not feature every look, but it features the looks I feel were my best work as well as a good variety of different types of looks. Each look features an individualized tip, plus an area for you to write in your own notes/comments. The book is 100 pages in length, with just over forty different looks featured in it. All of the pages are 100% full color, and the pages are 8×11″ in size.
It is available in three versions through Lulu.com:
Hardcover ($49.95)
Paperback ($34.95)
e-Book ($9.95)*
* e-Book is priced at $9.95 during the promotional period 11/15/08 through 11/22/08. After, it will be available for $14.95.
Thank you for your support and confidence in Temptalia.com!
Iris went as The Riddler (her boyfriend went as Two-Face). She used: Sharp, Humid, Ransom (Urban Decay), Vanilla, Carbon, Blacktrack fluidline, Maybelline Full & Soft mascara, and a pair of ridiculously long purple lashes on the eyes; Mineralize Satinfinish (NC 30), Gingerly, and Hipness on the face; and Petting Pink lip tint and Jampacked lipglass.
Check out Kelly, Jacqueline, and Zadi’s costumes! (Didn’t submit yours? Feel free to share pictures in the comments! You might have to wait for your link to be approved, just fyi!) Continue reading »
Happy Halloween my dearest readers! I hope everybody’s having a fun (and safe–yeah, I said it!) holiday, whether you’re staying in or heading out for midnight festivities. The boy and I actually ran some errands, stopped at Borders and had a coffee date, and now we’re home. I compiled this post with three “looks” I’ve done that are sort of Halloween-y. They’re basically masks/more dramatic makeup that wouldn’t be something I’d rock to the grocery store on a regular day. Surprisingly enough, only one of these looks was done for Halloween. I admit, I used to be far more creative and experimental when I first got into makeup. I think I might have to sift through some of my old folders for photos to get inspired for the future :)
What’d you do (or what are you going to do) for the holiday?
I’d LOVE to see all the fantastic costumes and makeup (whether traditional or totally off-the-wall) and do a round-up. Submit your photos to temptalia[at]gmail.com!
A few months ago, I was invited to become part of a special panel for a new concept called Beauty Fix. Beauty Fix recently launched, and now I can share the details with you all! Beauty Fix is a sampling program for those who love beauty products, receiving them, and being on the cusp of what’s the latest. Each quarter, members who sign up receive their “Beauty Fix” which is filled with both full sized and deluxe sample sized beauty goods.
This is where I come in! As a panel member, I have the opportunity to share my thoughts and weigh in on what products should be included in the next beauty fix. There are several panelists, and together, we work with each other to come up with the right product mix to send to Beauty Fix members. To sign up to get your own Beauty Fix, head on over here to learn more.
Additionally, Beauty Fix offers a community aspect online, where you can meet other members as well as read their reviews, panelists’ reviews, get how-tos and tips, etc.
A few of you asked me to do some looks using the Manish Arora eyeshadow palette–considering the palette contains colors I already own (save for Playful), I actually have!
So here are some looks you can browse through that I’ve already done–hopefully to hold you over until I can create a new look using the palette. :) There may be more, I just did some preliminary searches for “goin bananas” and “electric eel.” You can search for looks using “overgrown” (because it’s like Bitter, and I rarely use Bitter, ’cause I prefer Overgrown!), or even “nylon.” Though, searching for “nylon” will overwhelm you, since I often use it as a highlighter.
This is a very quick post, because I’m in between classes, and I can’t get over how lovely the Beiges de Chanel quad is. The quad comes from Chanel’s Holiday 2008 offerings, which are lovely in their own right, but this is the only item I’ve been able to see and play with in person. I did a super fast look using the quad before I jetted off to class–seriously, five minutes or less–and I was so pleased with the results! The colors are so soft and smooth, and they’re incredibly flattering. They blend seamlessly with each other! I even take back what I said about the “highlight” color — it might swatch chalky, but it softens like a dream when actually used. So truly, I urge you all to visit your local Chanel counter for a look-see and swatch-a-roo when it’s fully released! (It’s been popping up in some areas, but not all.)
Look what arrived today… YSL’s Pur Black Gloss. Yes, Black. Yes, I paid $28.00 for it. No, I will probably not wear this anywhere out except, perhaps, on Halloween (kidddingg). I think it speaks for itself; I mean, what are you looking for in a black gloss? For me, novelty. YSL does a good job delivering a luxurious black gloss that’s surprisingly opaque and incredibly glossy. Most glosses always show some of the lip color through it, and this one is no exception.

One of my favorite bloggers (beauty or not) is Pursebuzz! Elessa is an amazing resource for both makeup and hair, but I totally owe all of my [limited] hair knowledge to her. She’s been my hair mentor ever since I’ve started to attempt to actually style mine! You might know her of YouTube fame, as she’s pretty much a video-queen. I loathe doing videos because of how time-consuming they are, but she gets them up so quickly and frequently. I encourage you all to check out her blog or her YouTube page, because she has a lot of great tips and tricks to offer! :) (Plus, she is the sweetest, most down-to-earth girls I know.)
