Zoya Blaze Nail Lacquer
Zoya Blaze Nail Lacquer

This is a Blazing Red

Zoya Blaze Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “cool-toned medium mulberry red with a high concentration of micro-fine diamond holographic glitter.” It’s a darkened, plum-kissed red with holographic glitter, which tends to pull pink, fuchsia, and purple. Because of the holographic glitter, I don’t know of an exact dupe for the color. Cult Nails Iconic comes the closest, but it is a little darker and has flakes in it. Essie Size matters is redder and has a cream finish. Dior Graphic Berry is close to the base color but is a cream. Illamasqua Charisma is darker and has micro-shimmer but nothing holographic.

The formula on this shade was good overall. I had no trouble getting opaque color with two coats of polish, which is true-to-description, as Zoya lists this as a full coverage color. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, though it leans on the thicker side (but is in line with Zoya’s formula on average). It spread evenly and fluidly, without bubbling, streaking, or pooling along the sides.  I typically get a week of wear out of Zoya’s formula without chipping.

The holographic shimmer adds an extra layer of complexity to this polish. It's also not your typical holiday red, as it is deeper and has a little plum/raspberry in it that darkens it.

Zoya Logan Nail Lacquer
Zoya Logan Nail Lacquer

Slip Into a Glittering Forest

Zoya Logan Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “yellow-toned forest green with dense, foil-like yellow-gold and blue-green duochrome shimmer.” It’s a dark forest green with emerald green and gold shimmer and sparkle. China Glaze Glittering Garland is more yellow-toned. Zoya Holly has much finer shimmer, is lighter, and more emerald green. Zoya Ivanka is lighter and yellower.

It’s opaque after two coats, and it is densely-packed with shimmer.  At some angles, it seems more golden, and at other angles, more cool-toned, like a bluish-green.  The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, and it’s consistent with Zoya’s formula (a little thicker than the average polish but not in a bad way).  It applied evenly and fluidly across the nail.  I typically get a week of wear out of Zoya’s formula without chipping.

It's a different take on emerald green, which is a color we often see pop up in holiday nail collections. The introduction of the cooler, bluer shimmers gives it a lot of interest.

Zoya Electra Nail Lacquer
Zoya Electra Nail Lacquer

Tinsel Town, Here We Come

Zoya Electra Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “micro-fine diamond holographic glitter mixed with large silver holographic bar tinsel in a clear base.” It has holographic micro-glitter along with holographic bar glitter, which looks like silver tinsel on the nail, until you angle it just right or the light catches it, and then you get the holographic effect. I don’t have anything like this myself, and all I could think of was Zoya’s holiday collection last year, which featured pink, green, and blue horizontal bar glitter polishes.

Zoya lists the opacity as three, which is in the middle of sheer (one) and opaque (five). That’s a very accurate assessment; after two coats, it has a fair amount of coverage, but you’d really need three to get mostly opaque coverage. I layered it over Zoya Storm first, and then over Zoya Blaze.  What I appreciated most about Electra was the fluidity and how well the bars dispersed across the nail.  I didn’t feel like I had to push and pull the glitter into place.  I typically see a full week of wear with minor tip wear but no chipping with Zoya’s formula.

Whether you layer it or wear it alone, Electra is a fun holiday lacquer that will add a bit of glitz and glam to any manicure.

Zoya Ray Nail Lacquer
Zoya Ray Nail Lacquer

A Dance Through an Evergreen Forest

Zoya Ray Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as “dark blackened pine green with smooth, delicate silver and green frost shimmer.” It’s a deep forest green with great depth and enough vibrancy to ensure it looks more-green-than-black. It has silver threads of micro-shimmer running through it. NARS Night Porter is warmer. Butter London British Racing Green is similar in color but it has sparse shimmer. Illamasqua Kink is a bit lighter, duller, and has a rubbery finish. MAC Jade Dragon is a bit darker and has larger teal shimmer.

The inky darkness of Ray makes it so appealing, but the noticeable brush strokes from the metallic shimmer (I know it says frost) take away from it to degree. The brush strokes are subtle but there, so it really depends on your tolerance for them.  It was fully opaque after two coats of polish, and it flowed easily across the nail.  The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin (seemed a little thinner than the average Zoya, which is neither a pro or con, just an observation), and I didn’t have any problems with bubbling, streaking, or pooling.  I typically get a full week of wear with minor tip wear (but no chipping) with Zoya’s formula.

While it was nicely pigmented and had an easy-to-use consistency, the visible brush strokes definitely impacted the overall rating of the product. If they're not bothersome, it's definitely a worthwhile product to check out.

Zoya Evvie Nail Lacquer
Zoya Evvie Nail Lacquer

A Smoky Green for Fall

Zoya Evvie Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as “dark smoky grey cream with strnog teal green undertones.” It’s a dark, smoky green with a hint of blue/teal. Essie School of Hard Rocks is lighter, slightly bluer. Rescue Beauty Lounge Diddy Mow is lighter and greener. MAC Fatigues is much greener.

I think smoky colors like Evvie tend to have a lot of depth.  It’s dark, luxurious, but it’s not vampy; it’s also not bright, either.  Evvie was opaque in two coats, and the consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin.  It flowed evenly across the nail without pooling, streaking, or bubbling during application.  I typically get a week of wear out of Zoya’s formula with no chipping and minor tip wear.

I don't have anything quite like this shade (so I'd love to hear any dupes you know of!), and I think it's a great shade for fall. The formula is top notch!

Zoya Song Nail Lacquer
Zoya Song Nail Lacquer

Song is a Polish That Really Sings

Zoya Song Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “bold, vibrant medium primary blue with silver and blue glittery metallic sparkle.” It’s a rich, medium-dark blue with brighter blue and silver sparkle and shimmer. China Glaze Blue Year’s Eve is similar but has purple sparkle. Illamasqua Force is a bit more violet-tinted and has no shimmer. Butter London Blagger is close in color but has no shimmer. SpaRitual Twinkle is a bit darker and has finer shimmer.

This shade was almost opaque in a single coat, but two were necessary for full color coverage. The composition of Song is so very lovely; it has rich, vibrant color with a lot of depth and nuance. It dried down to a naturally shiny finish, and the consistency of the formula was fluid and easy to maneuver on the nail.  I typically get a week of wear with Zoya’s formula–just minor tip wear but no chipping!
