Wet 'n' Wild Silent Treatment Eyeshadow Trio
Wet ‘n’ Wild Silent Treatment Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio: Silent Treatment

Wet ‘n’ Wild Silent Treatment Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a neutral-themed eyeshadow trio that performs nicely and lasts all day (I included some photos of the look I used to test this trio about six hours after application).  It’s a little cool-toned, but the soft peach highlighter adds a touch of warmth. The crease shade is a dark, neutral-cool brown with gold shimmer–I was surprised at how it didn’t come off as a warmer brown from all of the gold shimmer.  I did feel that the gold flecks did not really come across when applied, but they didn’t land all over my under eye, either.    The eyelid shade is a mauve-tinted silvered brown; it’s a surprisingly complex shade.

my thoughts on the formula: Color Icon Eyeshadows are definitely some of the best eyeshadows you’ll find in the drugstore, and this trio is well-pigmented, smooth to the touch, and the colors themselves performed well in a wear test–easy to apply and blend while lasting the eight hours I wore it for (without any fading that I could see).  However, these seem to work best directly over a base, rather than layered on top of each other–like I layered the eyelid shade over the crease shade, and I felt like I had to pack more of it on to get it to really show.

P.S. – I used this trio to do a drop test – I dropped it from 4 feet above tile floor, and it survived completely intact. The packaging did not break or crack, and the eyeshadow themselves were unharmed.

Wet 'n' Wild Silent Treatment Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio Review, Photos, Swatches

B+
The Silent Treatment trio worked out really well, and I think these are some nice neutrals, not just because of color pay off, but the shades themselves--interesting and not too warm or cool.

Wet 'n' Wild I Dream of Greenie Eyeshadow Trio
Wet ‘n’ Wild I Dream of Greenie Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio: I Dream of Greenie

Wet ‘n’ Wild I Dream of Greenie Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a new green-hued trio for spring. It contains a pale, silvery green-tinged white with a frosted finish, medium grass green with a softly shimmered finish, and a bright yellowed chartreuse with an overlay of pale gold shimmer-glitter.

my thoughts on the formula: Color Icon Eyeshadows are definitely some of the best eyeshadows you’ll find in the drugstore, and this trio is on par with high-end eyeshadows. There’s a reason why they won an Editor’s Choice Award (or three!). The new I Dream of Greenie trio is one of the best of the six new spring trios, too. The texture is soft and smooth without being powdery or chalky, and the colors are true-to-pan and apply nicely.

final thoughts: It’s not often enough that you find richly pigmented brights in the aisles of the drugstore, but Wet ‘n’ Wild has definitely raised the bar with their Color Icon formula, and I Dream of Greenie exemplifies the quality of the new formula.

Wet 'n' Wild 520E Lipstpick
Wet ‘n’ Wild Hot Paris Pink Lipstick

Wet ‘n’ Wild Hot Paris Pink Lipstick

Wet ‘n’ Wild Hot Paris Pink (520E) Silky Finish Lipstick ($0.99 for 0.13 oz.) is a bright, summery pink with a tiny bit of red-coral pull. It has a creamy, slightly shiny, finish with nearly opaque color. The color pay off is fantastic, and it applies fairly easily and doesn’t drag or pull. This wore for three hours on me before it was significantly faded (my average is four hours), but it managed to pull through a couple sips of water at least.

There is a faint sweetened berry scent that’s a touch synthetic but rather subtle so I wouldn’t say it’s bothersome. I have noticed that some shades have a stronger scent while others seem scent-free, which leads me to believe the scent doesn’t last long (possibly a good thing for some). The cap popped off too easily for my liking; I ended up with lipstick smeared in a makeup bag, which wasn’t so fun to clean-up.

FINAL THOUGHTS: At just under a buck, it’s hard to go wrong with these. Those who are often bothered by the synthetic sweet scents of other drugstore brands may want to avoid these, because as faint as the scent is, it is still there. The color itself was beautiful, the lipstick easy to apply, and it lasted decently, if a bit below average.

Wet 'n' Wild Eyeliner
Cobalt Blue, Antique Amethyst, Gold Pewter; Denim Chrome

Quick Reviews: Wet ‘n’ Wild MegaChrome & H2o Proof Eyeliners

Wet ‘n’ Wild MegaChrome Eyeliners ($2.99 for 0.04 oz.) and Wet ‘n’ Wild H2O Proof Eye Pencil ($2.99 for 0.03 oz.) were both products that did not work for me. Both formulas smudged terribly on me after less than an hour of wear–since they gave me raccoon eyes so quickly, I went through all four in a day, but nothing lasted for more than an hour. All four pencils were also a bit hard; I would definitely recommend wearing down the tip on the back of your hand before using them, but they’re still not overly soft, so they can tug a bit.

Pigmentation was also problematic; it was decent in the MegaChrome Eyeliners but dismal in the H2O Proof Eye Pencil. They tend to apply patchy and need another pass or two (or three…) to get the right color intensity and evenness. For a waterproof formula, Denim Chrome couldn’t even last long enough to make it to a water test!

  • Cobalt Blue is a blackened navy blue.
  • Antique Amethyst is a blackened plum purple.
  • Gold Pewter is a true yellow gold with a soft metallic finish.
  • Denim Chrome is a medium-dark blue with silver glitter.

Welcome to Swatch-all-idays! To start 2011 off on the right foot (or post, as it may be!), Temptalia is going through a backlog of products we have photographed, swatched, and often tested but in a slightly different manner. Quick reviews may be partially incomplete, such as a blush may only be swatched on the arm rather than shown on the face. It is our hope that what we are able to provide is still helpful!

RECOMMENDATION: There are better eyeliners on the market, both high-end and budget-friendly, so there is no need to settle on these.
