Urban Decay Summer 2015 Eyeshadows
Urban Decay Backfire Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “burgundy with purple shift.” It’s a muted, medium-dark purple with subtle, warmer undertones and a cooler purple overtone. The duochrome seemed weak here; it’s hard to even tell when angling one’s arm in the light to find it. It had great pigmentation with a soft, creamy, and very dense texture that applied easily and blended well. The color lasted for eight hours on me. Urban Decay Vanity (LE, $18.00) is darker. theBalm Surfari (LE, $16.00) is warmer. Make Up For Ever D926 Blueberry (P, $21.00) is cooler-toned. Urban Decay Remix (LE, $18.00) is warmer. Dior Constellation (864) #4 (LE) is darker. Urban Decay Tornado (P, $18.00) is slightly darker. Urban Decay Psychedelic Sister (P, $18.00) is lighter, cooler-toned. Inglot #445 (P, $6.00) is warmer. Urban Decay Dive Bar Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “medium blue with pink-purple shift.” It’s a muted, medium-dark, periwinkle blue with lighter violet shimmer and sheen. There’s a definite shift with this one that you can see with ease. It had semi-opaque color payoff, though it was very buildable and applied well to bare skin. The texture is so dense that it feels almost like a cream product, and there is no fall out or powdery excess–it feels unlike the majority of the brand’s current eyeshadow range as a result. It goes on well but also blends beautifully and takes little time to diffuse. It lasted for eight hours on me. I really liked this one, even though it could have been more pigmented right off the bat, and it was a more unique shade within my stash. Giorgio Armani #19 (P, $32.00) is lighter. Makeup Geek Center Stage (P, $9.99) is darker, less of a duochrome. Colour Pop Kimono (P, $5.00) is a cream product, warmer. Dior Atlantique #4 (LE) is lighter, warmer. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Siren #6 (LE) is similar. Tarina Tarantino Violet Storm #3 (LE) is brighter, bluer. Wet ‘n’ Wild I Don’t Do Camouflage #3 (LE, $2.29) is darker, less shimmery. MAC Wintersky (LE, $32.50) is similar. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Urban Decay Fireball Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “peach with pink shift.” It’s a darkened, yellow gold that flashes to peachy-pink to warmer, pink-peach with a metallic sheen. The duochrome is very strong with this one, which is fantastic, as you can really see it even applied on the eyelid. The texture was smooth and almost cream-like as it had a very dense feel. It applied with good color payoff and blended well. The color stayed put for eight hours before creasing. NARS St-Paul-de-Vence (Left) (LE, $24.00) lacks the pink shift. Makeup Geek In the Spotlight (P, $9.99) isn’t a duochrome. bareMinerals Shazam (LE) is darker, less shimmery, not a duochrome. LORAC Apricot (LE) is darker, no shift. Gucci Beauty Autumn Fire #2 (P) is more orange, no shift. Chanel Tisse Vendome #3 (P) doesn’t have the pink shift. Chanel Pink Lagoon (LE, $34.00) is pinker, less golden. Urban Decay Freelove (P, $18.00) is more orange. Chanel Abstraction (LE, $36.00) is pinker; it is more like a mix of the two layers but the effect on the lid is more comparable. NARS Outer Limits (LE, $24.00) doesn’t have the pink shift, but it has pink sparkle. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Urban Decay Tonic Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “lilac with blue shift.” It’s a brightened, lavender purple with warmer, pink tones and a bluish-violet iridescent sheen. The texture was incredibly smooth and creamy–again, it almost feel like a cream product–with zero powderiness or excess. It was so dreamy to work with as it was easy to blend, had good color payoff, and lasted for eight hours. This shade is a bit different than the other purples Urban Decay has, but it is rather close to a few of them that I don’t think you need all the variations unless you wear this type of shade all the time–but I think this may be the best one to-date with respect to quality. Kat Von D Astrological (LE) is lighter. Colour Pop Eye Candy (P, $5.00) is warmer, less duochrome-like. Kat Von D Violator (LE) is less shimmery. Make Up For Ever I916 Frosted Mauve (P, $21.00) is lighter. Kat Von D Arcadia (LE) is darker. Urban Decay Betrayal (LE, $18.00) is darker, cooler-toned. Fyrinnae Unicorn (P, $8.25) is lighter. L’Oreal With a Twist (LE, $7.99) is darker. Urban Decay Grifter (P, $18.00) is slightly darker. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Datura (P, $14.00) is lighter. Urban Decay Asphyxia (P, $18.00) is less shimmery, darker. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
