Urban Decay Cosmic 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set

Urban Decay Cosmic 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set
Urban Decay Cosmic 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set

Urban Decay Cosmic 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set ($29.00 for 0.14 oz.) includes five, travel-sized eyeliners that range from classic black to pearly white to brown. The holiday set contains $66.67 worth of eyeliner–not a bad value (these are 0.8g or 0.0282 oz. each, and full-sized eyeliners are 1.2g or 0.0423 oz. / $20.00 each or $472.81/oz.). The formula is consistent with the 24/7 formula overall, though Cosmic fell short.

Zero is a medium black with neutral undertones and a semi-matte finish., It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, and it was lightly creamy without tugging on the lash line. It wore well for eight hours on me. This shade is part of the brand’s permanent range. NARS Night Clubbing (P, $24.00)(100% similar). Laura Mercier Noir (P, $24.00)(100% similar). MAC Flourish Me Deep (LE, $18.00) is darker (95% similar). Bobbi Brown Jet (LE, $24.00) is darker (95% similar). Chanel Noir Petrole (931) (LE, $33.00) is cooler (95% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Stag is a muted, deep brown with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had good color coverage in one pass, and it was buildable to mostly opaque coverage in two layers. The texture was lightly creamy with a slight waxiness that helped it glide across the skin without dragging. On me, the liner lasted for almost nine hours. It was part of Naked on the Run, but this version is much darker and creamier–more pigmented. Urban Decay Corrupt (P, $20.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Lowlights (P, $16.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay Demolition (P, $22.00) is glossier (95% similar). NARS Last Frontier (P, $24.00) is cooler (95% similar). Urban Decay Smokeout (LE, $20.00) is cooler (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Express-Oh! (LE, $25.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Wholesome (DC, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Chocolate (LE, $24.00) is warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Crave (P, $20.00) is warmer (90% similar). Sephora Diving in Malaysia (18) (P, $10.00) is warmer (90% similar). Colour Pop Call Me (P, $6.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Orpheus (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). MAC Local Wares (DC, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Long Espresso (P, $17.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Added Goodness (DC, $16.00) is darker (85% similar). Colour Pop Stomper (P, $6.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Demolition (P, $20.00) is warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Cosmic is a bright, pearly white with neutral undertones. It had semi-sheer color payoff, and the texture was on the drier side, so it applied unevenly and thickened on itself in places. If it had been creamier, it could have brightened the lash line well. The color lasted for eight hours before fading. Zoeva The Truth (P, $7.50) is more shimmery (95% similar). Tarina Tarantino Crystal Gun (P, $15.00) is more shimmery, brighter (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Trick is a slightly muted, medium-dark copper brown with warm undertones and a pearly shimmer-sheen finish. It had great, opaque coverage in a single stroke, and it had a creamy consistency that applied smoothly and evenly without tugging on the lash line. The color wore well for eight and a half hours on me. Colour Pop Get Paid (P, $5.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Copperthorn (DC, $16.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Sunset (P, $25.00) is lighter (90% similar). Colour Pop Get Paid (P, $6.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Cockiness (LE) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Copperthorn (P, $16.00) is more shimmery (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Supply is a medium-dark, burgundy-brown with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good pigmentation in one pass, but it was fully opaque after two layers. The texture was lightly creamy without being too waxy or too slippery, so it still had good wear at eight and a half hours but didn’t drag on the skin. MAC Raven (LE, $16.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Broque (P, $16.00) is lighter (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Bronze (LE, $24.00) is lighter (90% similar). Tarina Tarantino Puppeteer (P, $15.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Stila Lionfish (P, $22.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Gentrified (DC, $16.00) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

5 Faves: Satin Lipsticks for Fall 2015

I find that I actually prefer a satin finish to a matte one as a personal preference; satins have a little sheen and offer more comfort than your average matte, but they aren’t truly glossy either. Here are some of my favorites for fall!

  1. Urban Decay Backtalk — a muted rosy pink
  2. Maybelline Touch of Spice — a medium-dark rose
  3. NARS Vivien — a rosy berry
  4. Estee Lauder Unattainable — a reddish-berry pink
  5. Urban Decay 1993 — a muted brown

Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Collection for November 2015

The limited edition collection will launch on November 22nd at urbandecay.com, Urban Decay stores, as well as Sephora, Ulta, and Macy’s.

“When Urban Decay came to me to collaborate, I immediately thought it was a perfect match. The way they’ve built their company is very similar to my aesthetic and approach. It’s all about creative self-expression, being strong and not being afraid to go outside of the box. Everyone in my life knows I absolutely love makeup. From a very young age, it was an artistic passion of mine. I actually used to be a makeup artist. I love wearing makeup and having so many ways to express myself through it. It’s my war paint. To be able to do a collaboration with people who get that concept and who are just as passionate about it is a dream come true. We’ve made and created products that I actually wear every single day. It’s the real thing. I’m obsessed with everything we’ve done, and I can’t wait to share it.” — Gwen Stefani

“We’ve always been such huge fans of Gwen’s work over at UD. We’ve wanted to make this project happen for years, and finally it was the right time. We found a true partner in her, and it was amazing to channel her energy and creativity into these products. She truly represents the Urban Decay spirit.” — Wende Zomnir
