Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette
Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette

Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette ($44.00 for 0.64 oz.) includes twelve matte eyeshadows ranging from yellowed beige to deep black. The majority of the palette is closer to neutral in tone than really cool- or warm-toned, though some shades lean cooler/warmer. The majority of the shades felt soft and silky with a few being a smidgen powdery, but I found these less powdery on the whole compared to other Tarte matte eyeshadows. Some wore for eight hours, while a few were faster to fade. I only had major issues with one shade (Best Friend), but the other shades were fairly easy to work with.

Free Spirit is a light, pale yellow beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It was slightly powdery but had good color payoff and wore well for eight hours. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Force of Nature is a medium brown with warm, slightly reddish, undertones and a matte finish. It had pigmentation with a soft, silky consistency that wasn’t powdery. It started to fade after seven and a half hours of wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Dreamer is a dark brown with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. The color coverage was mostly opaque, while the texture was soft without being powdery. This one blended fairly well, but it could have been easier to work with. It lasted for eight hours on me. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Multi-Tasker is a dark brown with warm, reddish undertones and a matte finish. It was nicely pigmented with a soft, silky texture that was a smidgen powdery. It wore well for eight hours before fading. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Caregiver is a light pink with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was opaque, and the texture was just a little powdery but easy to blend and apply. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Natural Beauty is a subdued, pinky-taupe with a matte finish and subtle, warm undertones. It had excellent pigmentation with a slightly powdery, but silky, texture. It was really easy to blend on the skin. This shade started to fade after seven and a half hours of wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Best Friend is a muted, medium-dark purple with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It was rather powdery, so the color payoff was sheer and uneven. It started to look faded after seven and a half hours of wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Bombshell is a blackened purple with a muted quality to it and a matte finish. It was very pigmented, and there was some excess fall out when applied, but it has a softer, silkier consistency that made it easier to work with (it could have been more blendable, though). See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Super Mom is a very light beige with subtle warm undertones and a matte finish. It had great color payoff, even though the texture was powdery, so it can be messy to use (I used it as a brow bone highlighter, and it covered the movable lid with dust). It lasted for eight hours on me. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Wanderer is a light-medium brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was moderately powdery, though it was very blendable on the skin and applied smoothly with good color coverage. This shade wore well for eight hours on me. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Power Player is a warm, taupe brown with a semi-matte finish (there’s a smidgen of a sheen there). It had good color payoff with a fairly soft, smooth consistency. It started to fade after eight hours of wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Fashionista is a rich black with a matte finish. It was intensely pigmented with a very silky, smooth consistency–it is a really lovely, rich black to work with, but a little goes a long way! It wore well for eight hours. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Tarte Sweet Indulgences Holiday Gift Set
Tarte Sweet Indulgences Holiday Gift Set

Tarte Sweet Indulgences Holiday Gift Set ($59.97 for 2.60 oz.) is a three-piece set, where there are three, slim square boxes that are designed to be given as gifts. You can keep them all for yourself, break the set up, or gift the entire thing. One box contains two blushes and three lip colors, another with three eyeliners and two mascaras, and a third with two eyeshadow palettes (eight shades in each). Overall, I think the Lip Cremes and the Eyeshadows are the stars, but the rest leaves me unimpressed: one blush was a complete miss (worst product in the set), while the three eyeliners were rougher, drier formula. Some of the eyeshadows are very nice, others are sheerer and don’t perform as well. I noticed the eyeshadow formula seemed thinner in this palette across the board, which made a lot of shades seem less powdery, but some were under-pigmented. There’s plenty of “value” to the set, but I think it just depends on what you wanted most.

Pampered is a pink-coral with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It looks more matte applied (doesn’t really get luminous or satiny when blended out), and the texture was smooth but not as soft as other shades in the range have been. The color payoff was good, while the blush itself lasted for nine hours (three shy of the 12-hour claim, though). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Savored is a warm, rosy plum with a satiny sheen. The texture was incredibly stiff–just hard to get any color out of it during application–and I found it harder to blend on the skin. I scraped off the first few layers, and it was slightly improved but still dismal. It seemed to wear around seven hours or so, but it was so sheer, it was hard to tell. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Indulging is a muted, fuchsia pink with a cream finish. It had semi-sheer color coverage with a high-shine finish. The color deposited somewhat unevenly with minor settling into lip lines. It was lightly tacky and lasted for three hours on me. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Rare is a warm rose pink with a soft, frosted sheen. It had mostly opaque color coverage, lasted for four hours, and was lightly hydrating. It was mint-scented, but I didn’t notice much of a tingle beyond the very initial moment. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Wonder is a brightened, medium-dark raspberry pink with a soft shine. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that went on evenly and smoothly. The color wore well for four and a half hours. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Pinky Promise is a muted, medium rosy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had nice color payoff with a soft, silky texture. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Taupe of the World is a warm-toned, medium-dark taupe brown with a semi-matte finish. The texture was somewhat powdery, so it wasn’t fully opaque. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

You Look Mauveless is a medium-dark plum with soft, warm undertones and a matte finish. It was mostly opaque and had a soft, silky consistency. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Just Malt Away is a light, yellowed beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. The powder was soft, blendable, and silky, while it yielded full color coverage. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Pampered Pink is a light-medium, warm pink with a soft, frosted finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a slightly powdery consistency. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Dare to Be Gold is a warm, coppery bronze with a metallic sheen. It wasn’t fully pigmented, and the texture felt thinner and drier, though not too difficult to work with on the eye. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Show Plum Love is a rich, plummy purple with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had fantastic color payoff with a soft, blendable consistency. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Wind Down Brown is a dark, neutral brown with a matte finish. It had decent pigmentation, but it didn’t adhere as well to the skin, so a primer would help with this particular shade. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Vanilla Candles is a light beige with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It is soft, a smidgen powdery, with fairly good color payoff. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Coming Up Roses is a muted plum with a soft, frosted finish. The texture was on the powdery side, so the color payoff wasn’t great. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Hazelnut Bon Bons is a muted, medium brown with soft, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation and was somewhat powdery. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Champagne Bubble Bath is a brightened peach with a frosted, slightly metallic, finish. It had good color payoff with a soft, smooth texture. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Bronze Cuff is a muted, golden brown with warm undertones and a soft, frosted finish. It had nice pigmentation and a soft, buttery texture. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Feeling Grey-t is a light-medium, warm taupe brown with a matte finish. It was somewhat powdery, though it still had decent pigmentation. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Espresso Yourself is a cool-toned taupe-gray with a matte finish. It was sheer, and the consistency was powdery. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Cinnamon Latte is a deepened, purpled-brown with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It was powdery and semi-sheer. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Charcoal is a dark gray with cool undertones and a frosted shimmer. It had semi-sheer color payoff in one stroke that was buildable to more opaque coverage in two to three layers. It lasted for seven hours on me, but it was painful to apply to the lash line. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Bronze is a warm, chocolate bronze-brown with a frosted shimmer. It had good pigmentation in a single stroke, but it just had a drier, more dragging texture that made it harder to apply. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Plum is a muted, medium-dark purple with a pearly sheen. It had decent color payoff in one go, but I wish the texture was less dry and easier to apply. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
