In my stash, I had four matte white eyeliners and three shimmery/metallic white eyeliners, and I’ve compared them in this post. The finding? The matte white eyeliners are completely dupes of each other across all four shades, while the metallic white eyeliners are nearly dupes of each other, with one being minutely less bright. I like using white eyeliner to lighten other colors or to act as a base color when using eyeshadow on the lower lash line.
DOLCE & GABBANA WHITE is a bright, creamy white. It is similar to the three other matte white pencils I have: MAC Pure White, MAC Fascinating, and NARS Santa Monica Blvd.
MAC PURE WHITE is a crystal clear creamy white. It is similar to the three other matte white pencils I have: Dolce & Gabbana White, MAC Fascinating, and NARS Santa Monica Blvd.
MAC FASCINATING is a bright white with a matte finish. It is similar to the three other matte white pencils I have: Dolce & Gabbana White, MAC Pure White, and NARS Santa Monica Blvd.
NARS SANTA MONICA BLVD. is a pure white a matte finish. It is similar to the three other matte white pencils I have: Dolce & Gabbana White, MAC Pure White, and MAC Fascinating.
URBAN DECAY YEYO is a silvery-white — it’s not 100% white on me, there is a little bit of silver sheen to it, but it’s close. It is very similar to Tarina Tarantino Crystal Gun; a touch starker compared to MUFE #14L.
MAKE UP FOR EVER #14L is a brightened, metallic white. It is not quite as stark/bright compared to both UD Yeyo and Tarina Tarantino Crystal Gun–but realistically, the difference is nearly imperceptible when applied.
TARINA TARANTINO CRYSTAL GUN is a bright, metallic-finished white. It is exactly like UD Yeyo and a touch brighter compared to MUFE #14L.
TEMPTALIA PICKS: #2 (wears the best), #5 (most pigmented, balanced between creamy/soft)

What’s your favorite white eyeliner? How do you like to use it?
Tarina Tarantino Tommy Jet Eye Dream Hyperliner ($15.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as “deepest black.” I’d argue it’s a dark black, but it’s not the richest, darkest black eyeliner I’ve come across. It’s not soft, and it’s a bit darker than medium black. There is a whole host of other black eyeliners that are comparable; most notably MAC Black Black, MAC Smolder, and Bobbi Brown Black. I promise: updated eyeliner comparisons are on my to-do list!
Long-time readers will remember that Tarina Tarantino’s Hyperliners have been my new favorite since the brand revamped their packaging and product range. I’ve been missing one shade for awhile, and I finally bought it a few weeks ago–just prior to learning about the brand’s exit from Sephora–but it’s still available and at the sale price of $9. I’m a fan of the formula first and foremost because of the stellar wear and color payoff, and the price point and color range has made it my go-to for several months now.
Tommy Jet wears for eight hours without fading, smudging, or migrating. The color payoff of this particular shade is decent to good; it’s not as rich in a single stroke as some of the other shades, but it is buildable.
If this was just a bit more pigmented in one pass, it'd be a perfect medium-dark black eyeliner to opt for. It's still a great choice, and at the price point, hard to beat.

This lipstick formula is supposed to be lightweight, hydrating, and have “medium pigmentation.” The color coverage is mostly opaque with a light translucency that allows for some of the natural lip color to come through. It has a light, balm-like consistency that slides on like butter, but it manages to stay on lips for a full five and a half hours. The formula is moderately hydrating (and more so than the last shade I tried in this range), so lips don’t feel parched post-application and you won’t feel compelled to run for your lip balm right away. It’s also scent- and taste-free. It comes in a gunmetal tube that clicks into place well and doesn’t show fingerprints for the most part.
Tarina Tarantino's Conditioning Lip Sheen is such a comfortable, lightweight formula that looks as hydrating as it is. Floriculture is a fantastic shade for fall that's dark without being vampy.

My go-to for a great natural cheek color is Korres #15 Natural, which gives my cheeks a little warmth and natural color without being too pink or plum. I also really love Tarte Exposed, which gives a little more color but still retains a soft, natural result.

Tarina Tarantino Mr. Gold/Mr. Silver Eyedream Highlight Duo ($19.00 for 0.26 oz.) is described as a “yellow gold” and an “icy silver.” Each eyeshadow is 0.13 oz., which is over double the average-sized eyeshadow (0.05 oz.), and the price point is very palatable for two shades. A lot of the duos, though, are more basic than not, so whether any are must-haves depends on the size of your stash.
Mr. Gold is a medium yellow gold with a soft, frosted shimmer finish. The color payoff is good, but it could be a little denser in texture to give it really excellent color payoff. MAC Sweet & Sour is less yellow. Bare Escentuals Remix is slightly darker. Bare Escentuals Aspire is similar. MAC Goldmine is very similar.
Mr. Silver is a medium silver with a frosted, metallic finish. As with Mr. Gold, the color payoff was just good — it wasn’t as intense or as pigmented as Tarina Tarantino’s line has been in general. MAC Misty is similar, slightly more metallic. Giorgio Armani #12 is a smidgen lighter.
This wasn’t my favorite set, mostly because of the quality. It’s good, but it’s not great, and so many of Tarina Tarantino’s eyeshadows are fantastic. The texture on these was a little drier–not quite as creamy or as dense–so the pigmentation was less than many other shades. I felt that it performed just as nicely on the lid as other shades, and both shades were buildable to fully opaque color on the lid with or without a base. When I wore the shades to test the wear, I achieved seven hours with no fading or creasing (with slight fading around the edges after eight) when applied over bare lids, but I didn’t have any problems after eight hours when applied over a primer.
This is a really basic duo, and depending on how you like to use your duo eyeshadows, this one isn't so workable together. They're very contrasting colors, and I liked them better mixed with other shades in my stash rather than together.
