Sleek MakeUP Acid Eyeshadow Palette

Sleek MakeUP Acid Eyeshadow Palette ($11.99 for 0.36 oz.) consists of twelve eyeshadows with a neon theme. This palette has been restricted for purchase through Sleek MakeUP directly due to the neon pigments used in some of the eyeshadows, as they are not FDA approved for use on the immediate eye area. Sleek MakeUP is a UK-based brand, and the palette and its shades are considered eye-safe in the EU and Canada. At present, I didn’t see any information indicating any of this or that it might not be deliverable to the U.S.; I was able to get all the way to payment info and didn’t see anything rejecting me, but it might happen on the final step.

Sleek MakeUP Californ.I.A. Blush by 3 Palette

Sleek MakeUP Californ.I.A. Blush by 3 Palette ($14.99 for 0.45 oz.) includes three shades of cream blush, which means there’s no worries about powder shades getting into the cream blush shades. If you love corals, this is a palette designed for you; it features a pink-coral, peach-pink, and coral-orange, so it covers all of the bases.

Sleek MakeUP Pink Lemonade Blush by 3 Palette

Sleek MakeUP Pink Lemonade Blush by 3 Palette ($14.99 for 0.68 oz.) includes three shades of blush. This particular palette has two powder blushes and one cream blush. Icing Sugar was unfortunately a huge miss in this palette–dry, powdery texture with little color payoff and was quick to fade, while Pink Mint was nicely pigmented with a lovely texture and better wear. The cream blush, Macaroon, in the middle was average in regards to wear but was easy to apply and had good color payoff. Because of just how powdery Icing Sugar is, it is very easy to get powder from it into the cream blush, so the palette can get a little messy.

Sleek MakeUP Garden of Eden i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette

Sleek MakeUP Garden of Eden Eyeshadow Palette ($11.99 for 0.36 oz.) is an earth-toned palette that features six warmer, more neutral shades, and then six cooler-toned, more green-hued options, for a total of twelve eyeshadows. Sleek’s formula for their frosts is very soft, smooth, and they almost feel like a cream product. The frostier shades tended to have good color payoff, and they were easy to work with. The more matte the base, the more problematic they seemed with some being decent and a couple having very sheer color payoff and stiffer, drier textures.  On average, the eyeshadows wore for eight and a half hours before fading, except in the case of some of those more stubborn mattes, then it was closer to eight hours.  The color combination is interesting, and there are many things to like about the palette, but there are some stiffer, sheerer colors in this palette that are disappointing.

Top 10 of 2013: Best Makeup Palettes

Choosing my top ten favorite palettes from the ones I tested and reviewed in 2013 was a lot more difficult than I anticipated! To give you an idea on how stiff the competition was, there were 128 reviews filed under “makeup palettes,” so you can see there were plenty to choose from! (And if you were curious, I have 1,261 posts filed under “reviews,” and the majority of those posts feature more than one shade, for the past year.) I considered which ones gave me warm, fuzzy feelings, that were high quality, and that I could really reach for over and over again. With those things in mind, here are my favorites…
