Shiseido Liaison, Coral Shore, Ruby Copper Rouge Rouge Lipstick

Shiseido Rouge Rouge Lipstick
Shiseido Rouge Rouge Lipstick

Shiseido Rouge Rouge Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a vibrant, long-wearing, and hydrating lipstick available in 16 shades inspired by red. The pigmentation varied from semi-opaque to fully opaque with a lightweight, lightly creamy consistency that wasn’t too thin or too thick, so it sat well on the lips and made mine appear smoother. The colors applied evenly on the lips and didn’t drag as the texture is very smooth and emollient enough to have a soft sheen but not enough to slide around easily. The formula lasted anywhere from four to eight hours, which was nicely hydrating.

Shiseido Liaison (RD306) Rouge Rouge Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a medium-dark coral-red with warm undertones and a soft, lightly shimmery sheen. It had nearly opaque color payoff that applied with smooth, even coverage. The consistency was lightly emollient, so it glided on the lips easily and felt comfortable to wear over the five hours it lasted. The formula was hydrating overall. Chanel Ultrarose (257) (LE, $37.00) is lighter, brighter (95% similar). MAC Hibiscus (LE, $17.00) is warmer (95% similar). Guerlain Rouge Sensuel (LE, $55.00) is warmer (95% similar). Shiseido Coral Shore (RD309) Rouge Rouge Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a slightly brighter, medium peony pink with warm, yellow undertones and a soft sheen. There is very pearl that gives it a more luminous finish, but it isn’t overly glossy, which likely contributes to the better wear time (almost five hours). The texture was smooth, lightly creamy, and featherweight on the lips. It was comfortable to wear and hydrating while worn. Bobbi Brown Pink Peony (P, $24.00) is darker (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Truth or Bare (P, $28.00) is more muted, more pigmented (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Paradiso (07) (P, $50.00) is cooler, glossier (90% similar). Shiseido Ruby Copper (RD501) Rouge Rouge Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark ruby red with cool, blue undertones and a natural sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that covered evenly and smoothly. The texture was very lightweight, smooth and creamy without being heavy, and comfortable on the lips. This shadde wore well for seven hours, was moisturizing, and didn’t feather or bleed past the edges of my lips. Chanel Rouge Tentation (169) (P, $37.00) is darker (95% similar). Sneak Peek: Shiseido Rouge Rouge Lipstick Photos & Swatches

Shiseido Rouge Rouge Lipstick
Shiseido Rouge Rouge Lipstick

Shiseido Rouge Rouge Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a new lipstick formula that’s supposed to give “vibrant” color with “rich moisture” in hues inspired by red. I bought six to try, and I fell in love with the finish so much that I reached out to Shiseido to see about getting the remaining shades so I could have swatches of them all. Full reviews to come, but it’s such a well-done formula–pigmented, creamy, moisturizing, four to six-hour wear, and so comfortable.

AdvertisementShiseido Synchro Skin Lasting Liquid Foundation ($45.00 for 1.0 fl. oz.) is the brand’s newest foundation. It’s supposed to be a “smart, oil-free, long-lasting” formula with “medium, buildable coverage” and a “modern matte, natural finish” that is “undetectable” on the skin. Check out swatches below or use the Foundation Matrix to find your equivalent shade in Synchro Skin Lasting Liquid.

Shiseido also updated their shade names to be more intuitive than their B/I/O names. When we partnered with Shiseido to swatch and photograph their newest range, we also went through other, current existing foundations to cross-reference and match everything up. The Rose shades correspond with the B shades (pinker undertones); the Neutral shades to the I shades (more neutral undertones); the Golden shades to the O shades (yellower undertones). Neutral 5 will be available in July.

5 Must-Try Cream Eyeshadows for Summer

One of my favorite products these days are cream eyeshadows, particular one-and-done shades, which I’ve included three of here, and then two brighter, more vibrant shades that could be used as bases or incorporated with other eyeshadows for a major look.

  1. Benefit Birthday Suit — a bronzy taupe
  2. Maybelline Fierce & Tangy — tangerine orange
  3. Shiseido Esmaralda — a bluish-teal
  4. MAC Rubenesque — a coppery peach
  5. Dior Lune — a shimmery white

Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color

Shiseido Esmaralda (BL 620) Shimmering Cream Eye Color
Shiseido Esmaralda (BL 620) Shimmering Cream Eye Color

Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color ($25.00 for 0.21 oz.) is supposed to be a “lightweight cream eye shadow with a radiant, lustrous finish that maintains a just-applied fresh look for 16 hours without smudging or creasing.” I loved the texture of the formula, as it is really creamy and lightweight, so it blends and applies over the lid fairly evenly. There is a fair amount of slip to it, so the drying time is a bit longer, but once it dries down, it stays in place for about eleven hours (which isn’t close to the 16 claimed, though). The three shades I tried were pigmented but could be sheered out if you wanted a sheer wash of color.

Shiseido Esmaralda (BL 620) Shimmering Cream Eye Color ($25.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “deep, elegant aqua blue.” It’s a medium-dark, muted blue with a slight teal leaning and a frosted finish. It had good pigmentation and applied easily over the lid, and the wear was just over eleven hours in total. Tarina Tarantino Ozma (LE) is more teal, powder. Kat Von D Bukowski (LE) is powder. Sleek MakeUP Sunset #6 (P, $9.99) is brighter, powder. Disney by Sephora Diamond Sky (LE) is more teal. Urban Decay Unhinged (LE, $18.00) is darker, more muted, powder. Urban Decay Peace (P, $18.00) is powder, brighter. Urban Decay Haight (P, $18.00) is darker, powder. NARS South Pacific #1 (P, $24.00) is brighter, warmer, powder. Maybelline Tenacious Teal (P, $6.99) is more shimmery. See comparison swatches

Shiseido Sudachi (GR 619) Shimmering Cream Eye Color ($25.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “juicy green.” It’s a medium, warm-toned green with a soft, frosted finish. It looks almost cooler-toned if applied at full intensity, but if sheered out, it looks warmer and warmer as the yellow undertone gets pulled out. This shade had good color payoff, and it wore well for eleven hours on me before starting to slightly crease. Makeup Geek Appletini (P, $5.99) is lighter. Disney by Sephora Fins (LE) is cooler-toned. Urban Decay Kush (P, $18.00) is a powder but similar in color. Milani Green Safari (P, $6.49) is cooler-toned, darker. MAC Feeling Fresh (LE, $15.00) is warmer, powder. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Foxfire (P, $14.00) is powder. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Shiseido Mist (WT 901) Shimmering Cream Eye Color ($25.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “pearl.” It’s an iridescent, pink-tinged white with a very sparkly, high-frost finish. It had fairly good pigmentation, but this shade was more prone to applying sheerer than really opaque, so you may find two layers necessary for opaque color, if desired. This color works well for highlighting in the inner tear duct or as a wash of color on the lid to brighten the eyes. It wore well for ten and a half hours before starting to crease. bareMinerals Skinny Dip (LE) is a powder. MAC Violet Blend #1 (LE) is darker, powder. MAC Pink Sensibilities #2 (LE, $21.00) is darker, powder. Tarina Tarantino Delightful #3 (P) is less sparkly, powder. Tarina Tarantino Diamond Dusk #2 (LE) is less sparkly, powder. Tom Ford Beauty Seductive Rose #1 (P) is less sparkly, powder. Tom Ford Beauty Enchanted #1 (LE) is a powder. MAC Fresh & Mint #2 (P, $21.00) is cooler-toned, powder. MAC Ready to Party (LE, $19.50) is darker, powder. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Shiseido Lacquer Gloss

Shiseido Nebula (VI207) Lacquer Gloss
Shiseido Nebula (VI207) Lacquer Gloss

Shiseido Lacquer Gloss ($25.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is a new formula that’s described as having “vivid clear color” and “profound moisture,” while the applicator is supposed to enable you to apply with “no streaks.” I bought two shades, opting for the violet-color (because I’m always on the hunt for a delectable purple gloss) and a red (figuring it would be most likely to perform the best) — I try to pick shades that might work well and horribly, if I don’t have the whole range to test, to get some idea about overall performance. The gloss is lightweight, non-sticky with a hybrid cream-gel consistency– a rather emollient feel on the lips–and nicely hydrating. While the wear time varied for me between the two shades, but it was a little longer than the average gloss. The gloss had no discernible scent or taste. The price point, quantity, and overall quality make this a worthwhile formula to check out!

Shiseido Nebula (VI207) Lacquer Gloss ($25.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is described as a “violet with multi-coloured pearls.” It’s a medium lavender-purple with soft, cool undertones and a multi-colored, fine shimmer. It had semi-opaque color coverage, where the gloss noticeably changed the natural lip color but still enabled some of it to come through, so your natural lip color will influence the ultimate result (particularly any undertones). It applied evenly for the most part, but there was room for improvement. This shade wore well for four and a half hours. NARS Annees (P, $26.00) appears more similar when swatched (but has no shimmer), but applied, it is much lighter. MAC Cinestyle (LE, $20.00) is cooler-toned, milkier, no shimmer. See comparison swatches.

Shiseido Lust (RD305) Lacquer Gloss ($25.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is described as a “blood red.” It’s a brightened, medium orange-red with warm undertones and a very, very fine white shimmer (I didn’t even notice it when I looked in the mirror–only in the close-up photos is it apparent). It ha mostly opaque pigmentation with a little translucency to keep it from looking heavy or like a liquid lipstick. This shade wore well for five and a half hours on me. Laura Mercier Poppy (P, $25.00) is redder, less shimmery. Illamasqua Touch (P, $22.00) is redder, more shimmery. Maybelline Signature Scarlet (020) (P, $8.99) is less warm-toned, less shimmery. Revlon Fire (P, $7.49) is slightly darker. NARS Hollywoodlawn (LE, $26.00) is more muted, darker. Chanel Exces (P, $32.00) is less warm-toned. MAC Knockout (LE, $15.00) is a touch more muted. MAC Ablaze (LE, $15.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches.
