Revlon HD Pink Sapphire, HD Petalite, HD Smoky Topaz Ultra HD Lip Lacquers

Revlon HD Pink Sapphire Ultra HD Lip Lacquer
Revlon HD Pink Sapphire Ultra HD Lip Lacquer

Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as an richly pigmented, lightweight, “never sticky” gloss with a “high-impact shine.” The best part about the gloss is that it delivers quite well on pigmentation, and they initially feel quite comfortable on with a creamy, almost gel-like quality to them. However, they get very tacky as they wear on, and the gloss itself is thicker. It’s not quite as thick as MAC Lipglass, but it is similarly tacky. I’m not keen on the brush-type applicator and feel like a doe-foot would have been better, as the strands of the brush tend to push the color outside the natural lip line and leave it looking slightly uneven (probably not noticeable from a normal viewing distance). They didn’t seem to have much of a scent, but in the tube, there was a very subtle sweetness. The formula is neither drying nor hydrating on me.

Revlon HD Pink Sapphire (520) Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a light-medium bubblegum pink with gold sparkle. It is very milky applied, and it was one of the lesser pigmented shades in the range with semi-sheer coverage. It settles into lip lines and is hard to get to look even, due to the milkiness. It lasted for three hours on me. MAC Pure Silliness (LE, $15.00) is less sparkly. Milani Pink Lady (07) (P, $5.49) is less sparkly. L’Oreal Florid Pink (LE, $7.99) is less glossy, darker, less sparkly. NYX Strawberry Parfait (P, $5.00) is less sparkly. NYX Merengue (P, $5.00) is lighter, less sparkly. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Revlon HD Petalite (540) Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a light-medium coral-pink with fine gold shimmer and a glossy finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage (you can’t see my lip freckle for the most part) that goes on fairly evenly. The color wore well for four and a half hours on me. Dior Tiny Pink (269) (P, $35.00) NARS Stella (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, lighter. NARS Orgasm (P, $26.00) is sheerer, warmer. NARS Super Orgasm (P, $26.00) is sheerer. Revlon Pinkissimo (P, $7.99) is sheerer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Revlon HD Smoky Topaz (570) Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium rosy beige with fine white shimmer. It had rich pigmentation that covered evenly for the most part with very minimal settling. This shade stayed on well for four and a half hours on me. MAC Chic Supremacy (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Bardot Beige (P, $22.00) is much lighter. MAC French Kiss (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery. Maybelline Charming Cocoa (125) (LE) is less shimmery, darker. Maybelline Nude Illusion (060) (P, $8.99) is less shimmery. MAC Calypso Beat (LE, $20.00) is lighter. Revlon HD Tourmaline, HD Pink Ruby, HD Carnelian Ultra HD Lip Lacquers

Revlon HD Tourmaline (510) Ultra HD Lip Lacquer
Revlon HD Tourmaline (510) Ultra HD Lip Lacquer

Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is supposed to deliver “true color clarity” with “vivid high-impact shine and a “lightweight feel” that is “never sticky.” The gloss has a creamy consistency to it that is a little gel-like, and though it doesn’t feel heavy, it is a thicker consistency. There’s a light tackiness to it initially, which I find develops to a noticeable tackiness after a couple of hours–if you don’t like thicker, tackier glosses, I don’t know that these are for you. The wear of these darker shades ended up being longer than average, which was nice, and I didn’t have issues with the gloss feathering, but I’m not prone to feathering, so your mileage may vary. I think a doe-foot applicator might have made the gloss easier to apply, because around the edges, the brush will splay out and give a more jagged edge, due to the thickness and spreadability of the gloss itself. There is a very subtle sweet scent, but it’s very, very hard to detect except in the tube. They weren’t drying on me, but they weren’t hydrating either.

From what I’ve heard (but I’m not in contact with Revlon, so this is an observation) and seen, this formula is replacing the ColorBurst Lipgloss range, which seems to be vanishing from online and my local displays are empty.

Revlon HD Tourmaline (510) Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a bright, fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a white sparkle. It had mostly opaque color coverage, which applied fairly evenly, but it could have gone on better. It wore well for five hours on me and was neither drying nor hydrating. NYX Sugar Cookie (P, $5.00) is less sparkly, sheerer. Urban Decay Crush (P, $19.00) is less glossy. Milani Flashy (P, $7.49) is more shimmery. MAC Style Packed (LE, $15.00) is lighter, less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Revlon HD Pink Ruby (515) Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a bold, brightened pinky-red with fuchsia shimmer and sparkle. It had rich, opaque color coverage that went on evenly and lasted for six hours. MAC Glam (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery. Revlon Adorned (P, $7.49) is cooler-toned with a pinker (less red) base. MAC Impassioned (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery. Estee Lauder Violet Rain (LE, $22.50) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Revlon HD Carnelian (545) Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium-dark burgundy red with subtle, cool undertones and a creamy finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage with a high-shine finish. It applied beautifully and evenly, except along the edges due to the bristles of the brush (be very slow and methodical when applying with the applicator!). It wore well for five and a half hours. Guerlain Rouge Parade (920) (LE, $30.00) is brighter, lighter. MAC Viva Glam I (LE, $15.00) is warmer. MAC Utterly Tart (LE, $15.00) is less red. Chanel Crushed Cherry (P, $29.50) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
