Sugar That Goes to Your Tips and Not Your Hips

Ozotic #904 Nail Lacquer (AU $12.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) looks like lemon drops in the bottle, but the way it looks applied really just depends on what you apply it over. On its own, it’s a light-medium, yellow. When I layered it over a purple, you could see the sparkle shift from golden yellow to green. I haven’t reviewed a lot of duochrome/tri-chrome kind of polishes, so I couldn’t think of a dupe. The duochrome is a lot like China Glaze Rare & Radiant, Color Club Editorial, and Chanel Peridot–with a stronger start on the golden end of the spectrum. None of those are dupes, since those are full-color polishes and not shimmer/micro-glitter.

I applied this shade with two coats on its own, and then one coat layered over L’Oreal The Mystic’s Future, which is a fuchsia, eggplant-purple. It’s semi-opaque after two coats, but it didn’t apply evenly. The polish had a rather thick, almost gel-like consistency, which made getting thin, even coats more difficult to do. It’s possible, but there was a little learning curve with this shade! This shade is designed to be used as a layering shade. I tested this polish (worn alone, not layered) for wear, and it lasted a full seven days without chipping on me; there was just minor (but no more than average) tip wear.  The texture is somewhere between micro-glitter and glitter but very flat.

	If this was a little thinner, it would definitely be a better polish. The thicker consistency made it more difficult to apply and get even color on the nail.

Ozotic #505 Nail Lacquer ($14.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is a multi-chromatic polish that shifts green, pink, cyan, and blue. It is more of a layering polish than anything else–you can see the color alone, but in order for the multi-chromatic effect to really pop, a darker underlayer works best. I applied two coats of it alone on my index and middle fingers, and then I applied one coat of it over a black polish on my ring finger. Alone, there are bits of silvery blue, fuchsia purple, and blue-purple that seem to catch the light. Over black, it looks like teal, forest green, fuchsia purple, and bluish-purple.

The formula wasn’t too thick or too thin, so it applied easily without streaking or bubbling.  It actually had surprising coverage on its own–just shy of being opaque with a hint of visible nail line after two coats.

	Ozotic definitely knows how to make a duochrome/multi-chrome polish, and if you're really in the market for one--don't waste money on imitations; Ozotic is a surefire way to get the results you want with an excellent formula.

Ozotic #529 Nail Lacquer ($17.50 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as “glittering particles that shift from blue to purple to orange.” this is definitely more of a layering polish than one most would wear alone, though it still comes together nicely enough by itself. There’s a healthy amount of glitter coverage without leaving gaping holes or lots of bald spots, and it doesn’t take a lot of work to do that either, as the glitter distributes well and doesn’t require pulling and manipulation of the brush to get the glitter to sit just right. It’s predominantly purple with more of a coppery orange hue around the edges, and the glitter is suspended in a clear base. You could argue blue, too, perhaps more blue-violet, but to me, mostly purple and copper.

It’s not too thick, as some glitters can be when they’re in a clear base, and I used three coats for swatches, so you could see how opaque it could get. It didn’t feel too thick at all with three coats, and I wore this shade on my right hand (I usually keep my left hand naked for regular polish swatching) for a week with no issues. Removal was on par with most other glitters; more effort than your typical polish, but if you let your polish remover soak through the polish, it won’t be so difficult.

	I like it, though I don't think it shifts colors quite enough for my taste, so I probably wouldn't shell out for this particular shade (and would opt for something else by Ozotic, since I do like what I've tried so far!).

Ozotic #507 Nail Lacquer ($17.50 oz. for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “multi-chrome nail polish that shifts from golden yellow to khaki green to blue flash with a metallic shimmer.” It’s predominantly a murky olive green-gold that brightens and darkens depending on the angle/lighting. The blue comes out, for me, around the edges of the nail when held at a certain angle. It’s a very cool effect and definitely something that’s hard to capture in a single photo! It’s definitely very similar to Chanel Peridot. They both look like oil spills in the bottle!  #507 has more blue pulled out than Chanel, which tends to be more gold-green and green; perhaps less multi-chrome.

#507 was opaque in two coats, and even though it’s a metallic, the threads apply evenly and straight without much effort. The lacquer flowed easily across the nail without pooling, streaking, or bubbling. I wore #507 for a week with minimal tip wear; the formula wears well without chipping and probably could have lasted for ten days. It had a good consistency that wasn’t too thick or thin, which allowed for better application.

	If you dig duochromes and didn't snag Chanel Peridot, this is actually a better version of it that may work out to be a better bang for your buck. It really does change and slide into different colors and shades depending on how much light there is and the angle of your nails.
