NARS Despair Cheek Palette

NARS Despair Cheek Palette ($65.00 for 0.48 oz.) includes four blushes (three new, one part of the permanent line) and a travel-sized ITA kabuki brush. The palette contains $90 worth of blush, so it is a good deal for those who enjoy NARS’ blush formulas, and what’s nice is that three are totally new (though not without their dupes, of course!). I’m not a fan of the ITA in any shape or form, let alone the travel-sized version, which is just rougher and scratchier than the full-size. NARS’ blush palettes like this one seem bulkier than they need to be, but it should still travel well.

NARS x Steven Klein Eyeshadows

NARS Mortal Eyeshadow ($25.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as an “iridescent pearl white.” It’s a bright, warm-tinted white with a frosted, metallic sheen. The texture was really soft and smooth, and it applied easily to the skin and blended out well. It had mostly opaque pigmentation. Applied, it started to fade after eight hours of wear. MAC 2x Dare #1 (LE) is brighter (95% similar). Viseart Yves (P) is warmer (95% similar). Chanel Tisse Camelia #2 (P) is less shimmery, warmer (95% similar). Kat Von D Skulls (LE) is cooler (95% similar). Make Up For Ever ME122 Snow (P, $21.00) is warmer (95% similar). Guerlain Cygne Blanc #2 (LE) is lighter, warmer (95% similar). Zoeva Spun Pearl (P) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC White (P, $21.00) is cooler (95% similar). Guerlain Les Nuees #2 (LE) is brighter (95% similar). LORAC Snow (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, warmer (95% similar). Burberry Optic White (000) (P, $29.00) is brighter (95% similar). Make Up For Ever D124 Crystalline White (P, $21.00) is warmer (95% similar). BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes #1 (P) is less shimmery (95% similar). Sephora + Pantone Universe Antique White (LE) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Chillproof (LE, $16.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Smoky Black Friday #1 (LE) is less shimmery (95% similar). bareMinerals Heavenly Halo (LE) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Too Faced Unicorn (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). NARS Killer Shine Lip Glosses

NARS Killer Shine Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a new, limited edition gloss formula that is supposed to be highly pigmented with a “vinyl-finish.” The glosses were fairly pigmented with high-shine, very glossy finishes with good wear and were comfortable to have on. The formula is lightly to moderately tacky, and there didn’t appear to be an added scent, but I detected a slightly plastic-like scent in the tube/when initially applying but the scent didn’t seem to linger. These have a very tiny, brush-type applicator, which I bet is great for those with thinner lips, but it’s harder to use for me, personally, due to the size of my lips. The formula is neither drying nor hydrating over time.

NARS Killer Shine Lipsticks

NARS Killer Shine Lipstick ($29.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a new, limited edition formula designed for the collection that’s supposed to have “daring color and dramatic luster.” The texture feels a little heavier, thicker, and creamier than their standard range of lipsticks, but it is glossier and thinner than the Audacious Lipstick formula.

NARS Vengeful Dual-Intensity Blush Duo

NARS Vengeful Dual-Intensity Blush ($45.00 for 0.21 oz.) contains a highlighter and blush shade in the wet/dry Dual Intensity formula. I like this formula, but the ratings may make it appear less desirable, which is a result of NARS claiming that it is more intense dry and “translucent” applied wet–the complete opposite of reality. (Even funnier, this isn’t how the eyeshadow version of the formula is described!) I think if you tend to like this type of wet/dry formula, it’s a formula worth considering. This duo gave me a very fall-into-holiday vibe, as you have the rustiness of the blush shade that represents fall, while the more traditional shimmering gold screams holiday.
