NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette

NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette ($79.00 for 0.24 oz.) includes eight shades, seven of which are part of the permanent range (Ursa Major is, at this time, exclusive to the palette). The Dual-Intensity formula is supposed to give eight-hour, can be used wet or dry (dry for “sheer soft touch of sensual color” and wet for “high-impact finish”). They are sheerer applied dry, but I find them surprisingly buildable dry as well, so it takes two to three layers, and it doesn’t take real packing on, just going back for a little more product. They will be more intense right off the bat if applied with a damp brush, though, which is as described. The formula has a soft, finely-milled feel to it, and they’re very smooth and easily blended on the skin. The only downside is the wear varies anywhere from six to nine hours, and dry application seems to consistently wear between six and seven hours before creasing, whereas damp application lasts slightly longer with seven to nine hours of wear. The eyeshadows felt and performed very much in line with their permanent counterparts, but some of the under-performers from the original launch seemed improved in this palette, which is very rare to see.

Sneak Peek: NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette Photos & Swatches

NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette
NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette

NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette ($79.00 for 0.24 oz.) includes eight shades, seven of which are part of the permanent range (Ursa Major is, at this time, exclusive to the palette). Each eyeshadow is 0.03 oz., and full-sized versions are 0.05 oz. for $29, which makes the palette a $139 value in terms of amount of product, and in a more big picture way, to get eight shades would run you $232 (though they would be full-sized, just to be clear). I think this palette is an excellent way to try out NARS’ newer eyeshadow formula without completing breaking the bank. The eyeshadows felt and performed very much in line with their permanent counterparts (thus far) after swatching all of them and wearing about half of them (testing the other half today).

NARS Tech Fashion Lipgloss Set

NARS Tech Fashion Lipgloss Set ($49.00 for 0.48 fl. oz.) includes four lipglosses from peach to red. They’re all pretty sheer shades, so it’s possible that you have similar products in your stash already. Each gloss contains about half the amount of a full-sized gloss. They’re lightly tacky, wear two to four hours, and are a little hydrating. I didn’t notice any scent or taste while wearing them. The sheerer shades were shorter-wearing, while the more pigmented ones seemed to last a little longer. Two shades described as “sheer” were more pigmented than that, while one shade not described as sheer was sheer, so the ratings were impacted by this.

NARS Laser Cut Palette

NARS Laser Cut Palette ($59.00 for 0.62 oz.) includes three eyeshadows, one lipgloss, one blush, and one bronzing powder. The eyeshadows are marked as “Hardwired Eyeshadow” on the back of the palette, though I couldn’t tell you how they really differ from the permanent formula, other than it seems like a denser, less thin formula. The palette leaves something to be desired — I don’t think it’s NARS at its best–it’s just kind of in the middle.

NARS Digital World Lip Pencil Set

NARS Digital World Lip Pencil Set ($49.00 for 0.27 oz.) includes five, travel-sized lip pencils. Each Velvet Matte Lip Pencil contains 0.06 oz., and each Satin Lip Pencil contains 0.05 oz.  It is exclusive to Sephora.  They come in a long, rectangular plastic box (feels like acrylic to me, but I’m not an expert on materials!)–it’s thick, sturdy plastic, and it feels like something you would keep, not toss away. Three shades are limited edition (and two of those were released earlier this year in the Final Cut collection), and two are part of the permanent range. The only real downside to NARS’ lip pencils is that they require sharpening, so there is waste, and they may not be as travel-friendly since they don’t just twist-up. Otherwise, the formula has good color payoff, wears well, and is comfortable to wear.
