I have a definite weakness for colored eyeliner! I love how it can add a pop of color with very little effort. Here are a few shades I’m loving for summer this year…

  1. Urban Decay Chaos — bold blue
  2. Marc Jacobs Beauty Ody(sea) — bright teal
  3. Stila Mint Julep — mint
  4. Milani Perfect Purple — sparkling purple
  5. Sephora Sun Tan — coppery bronze

Do you go bolder or subtler during the summer for your blush? I find it just depends on whether I’ve reached for brighter lip colors or not; if I go bright on the lips, I usually go quite light on the cheeks and vice versa. Here are some of my current recommendations if you’re in the market for a fun, pink-hued blush this summer:

  1. YSL Fuchsia Desinvolte (01) — a fuchsia pink that can be applied as a light stain or as a deep blush (bonus: works well on lips, too!0)
  2. theBalm Down Boy — a cool-toned, light-medium pink with a mostly matte finish
  3. Clinique Berry Pop (03) — cool-toned, raspberry pink with a luminous finish
  4. MAC Lovecloud — a light-medium, warm-toned pink
  5. Milani Bella Rosa (11) — a vibrant, pink-red with a matte finish

Milani Rose Powder Blush Comparisons

Milani Rose Powder Blush ($7.99 for 0.60 oz.) introduced four new and limited edition shades for spring. Unfortunately, all four of them were misses for me. The colors were gorgeous, and the design delicate and lovely in the pan, but the performance was where this product fell–and fell hard. The texture of all four shades was incredibly powdery and dry, and three of the four shades also felt like they had chalky bases (maybe an excess of talc). They’re the type of product that really needs help to perform decently, so if you’re someone who typically applies blush over a cream or liquid foundation, doesn’t mind having to spend a little time blending and evening out the blush, then maybe they’re still worth considering, but I really don’t think they’re worth the work. I would steer you in the direction of Delizioso Pink or Bella Rosa, both intensely pigmented blushes that performed well (both by Milani).
