Marc Jacobs Beauty Au Revoir (406) Twinkle Pop Eye Stick
Marc Jacobs Beauty Au Revoir (406) Twinkle Pop Eye Stick

Here are the other two shades of Marc Jacobs Beauty Twinkle Pop Eye Stick ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) that I purchased. The formula is supposed to glide on easily with “instant buildable coverage.” It’s a twist-up, creamy eyeshadow pencil that feels cool and water-like when it touches the skin. It sets quite quickly, so it’s easiest to use a single shade as an all-over color or base. If you want to use more than one shade, work one eye at a time and you may find layering the lighter shade back over the darker shade, then blending, is a useful technique. I found this formula to have a very similar look and feel to Chanel’s Stylo Eyeshadow. I didn’t have any creasing with either shade over an eight-hour period, but there was some fall out.

Full disclosure: I tried these on my lower lash line, and I had the most searing pain in my eye; I couldn’t even wait to grab a cotton pad to remove it (I couldn’t keep my eye open long enough to find one), so I just splashed my eyes with water and all of the eyeshadow washed away and my eyes instantly felt better. I had only applied it as an eyeliner to the lower lash line (but not the water line) on one eye, but once one eye started blinking and watering, the other one did (causing the eyeshadow on the lid to move), and then both were excruciatingly painful. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a beauty product give me such a vicious, instant reaction. Wearing them purely as an eyeshadow on the eyelid didn’t result in any painful reactions, and when I removed them with a cleansing oil, nothing was amiss either.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Au Revoir (406) Twinkle Pop Eye Stick ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “pewter shimmer.” It’s a medium-dark, golden taupe brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single stroke, and it was buildable to mostly opaque coverage with two to three layers. NARS Dione (P, $29.00) is cooler-toned. bareMinerals Santorini (LE) is similar. Chanel Mirage (95) (P, $36.00) is warmer. MAC Crushed Clove (P, $15.00) is darker. bareMinerals Hot Commodity (LE) is similar. Too Faced Jingle All the Way Eyeshadow #4 (LE, $16.00) is similar. Sleek MakeUP Court in Cannes (LE, $9.99) is similar. CoverGirl Melted Caramel Flame (350) (P, $7.99) is less shimmery. Urban Decay Juju (LE, $20.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Shoshanna (414) Twinkle Pop Eye Stick ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “teal mermaid shimmer.” It’s a medium-dark, green-leaning teal with subtle cool undertones and a metallic finish. It had semi-sheer coverage in a single pass, and it was buildable to semi-opaque coverage. This shade was more difficult to apply, and because it wasn’t a neutral color, it was very obvious when it applied unevenly–it looked patchy on. Makeup Geek Glass Slipper (P, $5.99) is darker, powder. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Siren #5 (LE) is darker, powder. theBalm #36 (P, $6.50) is lighter, powder. NARS China Seas #1 (P, $24.00) is bluer, powder. NARS Bavaria (P, $24.00) is bluer, powder. CoverGirl Turquoise Glow (325) (LE, $4.99) is powder. L’Oreal Dive Right In (LE, $7.99) is lighter. Make Up For Ever #53 (LE, $23.00) is lighter. MAC Lucky in Love (LE, $21.00) is powder. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Satisfaction (214) Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl
Marc Jacobs Beauty Satisfaction (214) Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl

Marc Jacobs Beauty Satisfaction (214) Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “pinkish mauve with copper sheen.” It’s a rosy brown with golden copper shimmer. Maybelline Charming Cocoa (125) (LE) is lighter, less shimmery. NARS More (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, darker. MAC Everlasting Nude (LE, $19.50) is less brown, less shimmery. MAC Hot Spell (LE, $15.00) is darker, browner. MAC Over Indulgence (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, sheerer. Bobbi Brown Uber Suede (P, $24.00) is browner, darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This shade is part of the full coverage range of Lip Vinyls, and it did have mostly opaque coverage. It had a lightweight, almost gel-like consistency that glided over the lips easily and covered evenly for the most part and was non-sticky. I noticed that this particular shade had a stronger mint scent and related tingle (not a sting, though) than others I’ve tried in the past. It wore well for four and a half hours on me and was very hydrating.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Honey Bunny (400) Twinkle Pop Eye Stick
Marc Jacobs Beauty Honey Bunny (400) Twinkle Pop Eye Stick

Marc Jacobs Beauty Twinkle Pop Eye Stick ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a new, pencil eyeshadow formula for fall. It’s described as a “shimmering cream eyeshadow formula” that “glides on smooth in one swipe for instant buildable coverage.” The consistency is thin, cool, and almost like water when it touches the skin. It glides on very easily without skipping or tugging on the lid. Both of these shades lasted for nine hours without creasing or fading, though there was a smidgen of sparkle fall out. I can see this formula working for someone who’s looking for shimmer and sparkle with minimal work, who may only want to use one or two colors at a time. I think the lighter shades would be great for an all-over brightening look and off you go, but they’re best used one or two at a time as they don’t blend too well with each other as they set quickly. I found this formula to have a very similar look and feel to Chanel’s Stylo Eyeshadow.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Honey Bunny (400) Twinkle Pop Eye Stick ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “ballet pink shimmer.” It’s a champagne peach with a frosted, sparkling finish. It was semi-opaque in a single stroke and buildable to just shy of full coverage with two to three layers. Make Up For Ever S-52 (P, $21.00) is lighter. Divergent Humble Sheen (LE) is powder. Tom Ford Beauty Orchid Haze #1 (P) is a powder. Too Faced Cheers! (LE, $16.00) is a powder. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Starlet #2 (P) is lighter, powder. Urban Decay Sin (P, $20.00) is similar. Milani Champagne Toast (P, $6.49) is warmer, more metallic. MAC Ice (LE, $21.00) is lighter. Benefit RSVP (P, $10.00) is more metallic. Make Up For Ever #30E (P, $20.00) is a touch darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Leila (416) Twinkle Pop Eye Stick ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “rose copper shimmer.” It’s a medium-dark, reddish copper with a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation when applied in one stroke, and it was buildable to opaque color coverage with two layers. MAC Sexy Eyes (LE, $15.00) is lighter, more orange. MAC Gingersnap (P, $15.00) is powder. Urban Decay Trick (P, $18.00) is browner, powder. NARS Cambodia (LE, $24.00) is redder, powder. Sleek MakeUP Sunset #3 (P, $9.99) is darker, powder. MAC Magnetic Attraction (LE, $21.00) is darker, powder. MAC Red Hot Copper (LE) is darker. MAC Coppering (P, $15.00) is darker, powder. Le Metier de Beaute Innocence (DC, $30.00) is darker, powder. Marc Jacobs Beauty Wham (604) Kiss Pop Lip Color Stick
Marc Jacobs Beauty Wham (604) Kiss Pop Lip Color Stick

Marc Jacobs Beauty Kiss Pop Lip Color Stick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a new formula for fall. It’s described as “lightweight,” having a “burst of color–and hydration,” and is long-wearing. If you’re a fan of Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Lip Gels, I don’t think you’ll like these at all; the texture is drier, almost stiff and slightly chalky. The texture is noticeably thick and feels heavier on the lip, though it manages to look better than it feels. These are more like the old school, matte lip color. It’s imperative that you prep your lips prior to applying, as the thicker, drier formula will catch on any imperfections on the lip. I was surprised to see that these are huge–particularly for a lip pencil–at 0.15 oz., which is larger than most lipsticks, let alone jumbo lip pencil. They were also very pigmented, and these two shades wore for five to six hours (see below for specifics), but they tended to “crack” after two to three hours as the color settled into lip lines. I found the formula to be lightly drying–there was no burst of hydration whatsoever.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Wham (604) Kiss Pop Lip Color Stick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “coral rose.” It’s a brightened, coral-red with warm undertones and a satin matte finish. It had rich, opaque color coverage that lasted for six hours on me but didn’t fade as evenly as I would have liked to see, as it settled into lip lines after four hours. Chanel La Malicieuse (46) (P, $34.00) is redder. Bite Beauty Crush (P, $28.00) is more orange. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shout (138) (LE, $30.00) is softer. Guerlain Gracy (LE, $51.00) is pinker, darker. Make Up For Ever #37 (P, $19.00) is brighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Pop-arazzi (606) Kiss Pop Lip Color Stick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as an “electric rose.” It’s a bright, cool-toned, medium pink with blue undertones. It had full color coverage, and the color stayed on for five hours and started to “crack” and settle after three and a half hours of wear. Melt Cosmetics Stupid Love (P, $19.00) is brighter, bluer-based. This was the least chalky-feeling shade of the ones I tried. MAC Kelly Yum-Yum (LE, $16.00) is similar. Sephora Collection Cougar (P, $12.50) is lighter. MAC Happy-Go-Lucky (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Bite Beauty Moscato (P, $28.00) is brighter, cooler-toned. Bite Beauty Satsuma (LE, $24.00) is lighter, brighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Gossip (140) (LE, $30.00) is sheerer. Chanel La Diva (44) (P, $34.00) is lighter. MAC Candy Yum Yum (P, $16.00) is brighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Shooting Stars (316) Lust for Lacquer
Marc Jacobs Beauty Shooting Stars (316) Lust for Lacquer

Marc Jacobs Beauty Shooting Stars (316) Lust for Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “berry mauve with shimmer.” It’s a muted, medium-dark brick red-plum with pink shimmer and subtle sparkle. It had warm undertones. I actually found this type of color hard to dupe in gloss-form, particularly because of the coverage of this one. Maybelline Almond Aura (130) (LE) is lighter, less red/plum. Bobbi Brown Uber Suede (P, $24.00) is browner. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This was part of a 1,000-point Sephora offering, but it is being added to the full range. Right now, there’s early access to it direct from Marc Jacobs Beauty, but Sephora has it listed (along with another new shade, Satisfaction) as coming soon. It’s part of the full-coverage portion of the formula, and it did, indeed, have full, opaque color coverage. The consistency was lightweight, smooth, and comfortable to wear with a lightly hydrating formula. This shade wore well for five hours on me, and it was non-sticky (except by the very last hour, it was very slightly tacky) with a sweet mint scent.
