Marc Jacobs Beauty In the Buff (80) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon
Marc Jacobs Beauty In the Buff (80) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon

Marc Jacobs Beauty In the Buff (80) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “champagne shimmer.” It’s a light-medium, golden champagne with warm undertones and a pearly shimmer finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one pass, which was buildable to full coverage in two to three layers. The texture was lightly creamy and didn’t tug at the lash line. On me, the eyeliner wore well for nine hours before it started to thin. Estee Lauder Pearl (P, $23.00) is lighter. Sephora Collection Girl Talk (P, $9.00) is slightly darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Midnight in Paris (72) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as an “inky indigo blue.” It’s a sparkly, blackened navy blue with lighter silver and blue shimmer and sparkle. It had semi-opaque color payoff in a single stroke, which was buildable to mostly opaque coverage. The texture was lightly creamy, but it could have been a little creamier for smoother, more even application. This shade wore well for nine hours before I noticed very slight thinning of the line. Marc Jacobs Beauty Navy Noir (76) (P, $25.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Metalhead (P, $16.00) is less shimmery. Sephora Collection Suede Shoes (P, $9.00) is less shimmery. Urban Decay LSD (P, $19.00) is cooler-toned, brighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer
Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer

Marc Jacobs Love Buzz (324) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “rose-gold shimmer.” It’s a light-medium, warm-toned pink with fine, lighter gold shimmer. It had semi-sheer color payoff with more noticeable shimmer than color coverage (but nonetheless, a far cry from “maximum color”). It lasted for three and a half hours on me and was lightly moisturizing. Make Up For Ever 203P Golden Pink (P, $19.00) is less shimmery. Surratt Beauty Soigne (P, $32.00) is pinker. Revlon HD Petalite (540) (P, $8.99) is pinker. MAC Stoke the Flame (LE, $15.00) is similar. Marc Jacobs Beauty Pink Diamond (326) (DC, $28.00) seems to pretty much be the same (so I expect Love Buzz to be the replacement). NARS Orgasm (P, $26.00) is similar. MAC Flare for Fantasy (LE, $20.00) is warmer. MAC Dynasty at Dusk (P, $20.00) is warmer. Burberry Cameo Pink (P, $29.00) is pinker. Bobbi Brown Pink Gold (P, $24.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Some Girls (328) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “punch-pink shimmer.” It’s a slightly muted, medium pink with warm undertones and a fine dusting of pink and gold shimmer. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly. It wore well for four hours and was hydrating over time. Make Up For Ever 205P Pearly Rose (P, $19.00) is darker. Make Up For Ever 203P Golden Pink (P, $19.00) is more shimmery, lighter. Maybelline Pearlescent Peach (520) (P, $8.99) is brighter. NARS Stella (P, $26.00) is darker. MAC Be Nice (P, $22.00) is lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Heart Shaped (308) (DC, $28.00) is very similar. MAC Meteoric (LE, $20.00) is pinker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Uproar (336) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “melon shimmer.” It’s a light-medium, peachy-orange with peach and pink shimmer. It had sheer coverage that primarily darkened and added warmth to my natural lip color, but I would expect this one to look different from person to person as the natural lip color will change this one a lot. The shimmer is fine and hardly noticeable on. It’s comfortable to wear during the three hours it lasts, and it was somewhat hydrating. Maybelline Enthralling Nude (500) (P, $8.99) is less shimmery. Charlotte Tilbury Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (L.S.D.) (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery. MAC Bared for You (LE, $15.00) is lighter. Divergent Supreme Ritual (LE) is less shimmery. MAC Nectarsweet (LE, $20.00) is pinker. YSL Nude Carat (No. 20) (P, $32.00) is similar. bareMinerals Dazzler (LE, $18.00) is similar. Dior No Angel (353) (P, $29.50) is pinker. Chanel Zephyr (377) (LE, $29.50) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Lollipop (86) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon
Marc Jacobs Beauty Lollipop (86) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon

Marc Jacobs Lollipop (86) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “cherry pink shimmer.” It’s a brightened, fuchsia pink with warm, reddish undertones and a cooler-toned, iridescent pink shimmer. It had good pigmentation a single pass, while the texture was lightly creamy and easy to apply. On, it lasted for ten and a half hours without fading or migrating. MAC Funfare (P, $16.00) is less shimmery. Chanel Berry Lucky (LE, $29.00) is darker. Urban Decay Woodstock (LE, $19.00) is very similar. MAC Process Magenta (P, $16.00) is darker, less shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Sunset (74) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “golden bronze shimmer.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark golden copper-brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had fairly good color payoff in one pass, and it was buildable to fully opaque coverage with about a layer and a half of product. This shade was previously released in last year’s holiday set, but it is back and permanent. The color wore well for ten hours without fading or thinning. MAC Brassy (P, $16.00) is more gold. MAC Brass Band (P, $16.00) is similar. Sephora Collection Sun Tan (08) (P, $9.00) is yellower. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Violet Femme (82) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon
Marc Jacobs Violet Femme (82) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon

Marc Jacobs Violet Femme (82) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as an “orchid shimmer.” It’s a medium, pinky-mauve with lighter pink and lilac shimmer. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, but it wasn’t the easiest shade to layer as it was drier and tended to skip for me. This is one of the issues I’ve had with Marc Jacobs’ formula: they aren’t always creamy, and it can even vary from purchase to purchase of the same shade. Once on, the color doesn’t budget at all over a fourteen hour period, and it seemed slightly more amenable to being layered/built-up in practice than when I initially swatched it. The disappointing part is that it is a more unique shade, too. Sephora Collection Strawberry Macaroon (P, $9.00) is lighter and more metallic (but infinitely easier to apply). Marc Jacobs Beauty Jazz(berry) (46) (P, $25.00) is darker. MAC Feminine Edge (LE, $16.00) is lighter, more sparkly, gel. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Peridot (90) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “sage green shimmer.” It’s a brightened, light-medium green with warm, golden shimmer and a more metallic finish. It was incredibly creamy and softer than almost all other Marc Jacobs’ eyeliners I’ve tried, and as a result, it yielded nearly opaque coverage in one pass. It was easy to apply on the skin. It didn’t look faded or thinned after fourteen hours of wear. MAC Vent (P, $16.00) is darker, cooler-toned. Sephora Collection Caipirinha Dreamin’ (LE, $9.00) is brighter. NARS Puerta del Sol (LE, $24.00) is darker. Sephora Collection Indulge Yourself (22) (P, $9.00) is darker, less shimmery. Urban Decay Freak (P, $19.00) is lighter, less shimmery, warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Top Seacret (88) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “teal shimmer.” It’s a medium-dark blue with very subtle “teal” leanings–like it is a little “warmer” compared to a true medium blue, but it isn’t really teal. The color payoff was semi-sheer in a single pass, and the consistency was a little dry, so it tended to drag and apply unevenly. I found it difficult to get really opaque color with this shade, and as a fan of teal (personally), this might have been the one I was most excited for. It wore for fourteen hours with no signs of fading or smudging. Kat Von D D.R.A. (P, $10.00) is bluer, cooler-toned. bareMinerals True Blue (LE) is less shimmery, darker. Gucci Beauty Iconic Ottanio (P, $32.00) is darker. L’Oreal True Teal (260) (P, $8.99) is warmer, more pigmented. Urban Decay Gonzo (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, brighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Ody(sea) (62) (P, $25.00) is greener. Tarina Tarantino Kanzashi (P, $15.00) is lighter. NARS Khao San Road (P, $24.00) is slightly lighter. Sephora Collection Summer Cruise (23) (P, $9.00) is lighter. Urban Decay Deep End (P, $19.00) is slightly greener. bareMinerals 4AM (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery, bluer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Navy Noir (76) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon
Marc Jacobs Navy Noir (76) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon

Marc Jacobs Navy Noir (76) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “darkest navy.” It’s a blackened blue with lighter navy blue pearl shimmer that gives it a more pearled finish. It had fairly opaque pigmentation in a single pass that was buildable to mostly opaque coverage. The texture was creamy enough to glide on without skipping or tugging on the lash line. The color lasted for over fourteen hours without fading/smudging. Sephora Collection Suede Shoes (P, $9.00) is warmer, less shimmery. Marc Jacobs Beauty Midnight in Paris (P, $25.00) is slightly warmer. Sephora Collection Galaxy Girl (25) (P, $9.00) is blacker. NARS Night Flight (P, $24.00) is cooler-toned. Urban Decay LSD (P, $19.00) is more sparkly, warmer. MAC Night Trail (P, $20.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Orange Crush (78) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “deep orange shimmer.” It’s a lightly brightened, coral-orange with warm, reddish undertones and pink and gold sparkle. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a really creamy, glide-on consistency–one of the creamier shades I’ve tried from the brand. It lasted for fourteen hours without any signs of wearing away. I couldn’t think of any dupes for this one from what I’ve reviewed/seen myself!

Marc Jacobs Blue Me Away (84) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “light sky blue pearl.” It’s a brightened, light-medium sky blue with a pearly sheen. It had fairly good color in a single stroke, and it was buildable to more opaque coverage on the lash line in two layers. The color stayed in place for fourteen hours and didn’t show any signs of fading or smudging. Tarina Tarantino Kanzashi (P, $15.00) is darker. bareMinerals 4AM (LE, $15.00) is darker. Marc Jacobs Whip It (304) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer
Marc Jacobs Whip It (304) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer

Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is supposed to have “maximum color and brilliance” and “shine like ’30 coats of lacquer.'” The formula has a mint scent but not much flavor from what I could detect. The biggest downside is that several shades that I have are not in line with “maximum color.” It has a light-medium weight with a smooth, creamy consistency that has a light tackiness, but it isn’t particularly sticky and doesn’t seem to get tackier as it wears on. It has a high-shine finish and is comfortable to wear as it is lightly hydrating. I think the Lust for Lacquer formula was better, as it went on more smoothly and the full coverage part of the formula was more likely to be true.

Marc Jacobs Whip It (304) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “bold iridescent magenta.” It’s a vibrant, fuchsia-red with iridescent violet shimmer and cool, blue undertones. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on fairly evenly and lasted for five hours. It was lightly hydrating over time, but I did notice that the color slipped into lip lines slightly as well. I think this is supposed to be similar to Boom Boom from the prior gloss formula, but it is a lesser version of it. Urban Decay Big Bang (P, $22.00) is redder, darker. Maybelline Mystical Magenta (610) (P, $8.99) is lighter. Maybelline Opalescent Orchid (515) (P, $8.99) is lighter. Revlon HD Pink Ruby (515) (P, $8.99) is brighter, darker. MAC Hopelessly Devoted (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery. Revlon Adorned (P, $7.49) is brighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Boom Boom (210) (DC, $28.00) is more opaque. Burberry Pink Sweet Pea (LE, $29.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Love Drunk (320) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “mauve-gold shimmer.” It’s a plummy brown with warm undertones and a dusting of fine, gold shimmer over a cream-like finish. It had semi-opaque oclor payoff that applied evenly, though I felt like something about the thickness of the formula emphasized lip lines, but it wasn’t clear if it was really the color settling in to me. The gloss lasted for four hours and was lightly moisturizing over time. NARS Shade II (LE, $26.00) is sheerer. Marc Jacobs Beauty Satisfaction (214) (DC, $28.00) is lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shooting Stars (316) (DC, $28.00) is redder. Maybelline Intoxicating Spice (070) (P, $8.99) is redder, less shimmery. MAC Underdressed (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery. MAC Show Me (P, $19.50) is lighter, less shimmery. MAC Spice (P, $15.00) is pinker, less shimmery. MAC Over Indulgence (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Chanel Impertinence (P, $32.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Pink Steam (322) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as an “iridescent lavender shimmer.” It’s a lavender purple with lighter lavender shimmer and cooler undertones. Applied, it is semi-sheer, so the natural pink of my lips comes through and makes the gloss appear more like a pinky-lavender (subsequently, warmer in appearance), which means this is a gloss that may look quite different based on your natural lip color. It goes on unevenly and looks streaky, and it lasted for three hours, though it was comfortable to wear and lightly hydrating. Gucci Beauty Potent Violet (P, $32.00) is more sparkly, sheerer. MAC Reckless Desire (LE, $15.00) is more sparkly, lighter. Shiseido Nebula (VI207) (P, $25.00) is similar. MAC Vacant (LE, $15.00) is cooler-toned! MAC Perky (LE, $15.00) is more sparkly. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
