Make Up For Ever D562, M842, S616 Artist Shadows

Make Up For Ever D562 Taupe Platinum Artist Shadow ($21.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a medium-dark brown with just a hint of gray and a high-frost finish. It had excellent color payoff, and the texture was soft, creamy, and extremely blendable. It wore well for nine hours on me. Ardency Inn Rose Gold (P, $21.00) is more mauve. Makeup Geek Night Life (P, $6.99) is warmer. Tom Ford Beauty Nude Dip #3 (LE) is a touch lighter. Chanel Tisse Rivoli #1 (P) is darker, cooler-toned. YSL Saharienne #4 (P) is less shimmery, cooler-toned. Ulta Taupe (P, $10.00) is less shimmery. Laura Mercier Bamboo (P, $23.00) is less shimmery. Urban Decay Shakedown (LE, $18.00) is less frosted. Urban Decay Lost (P, $18.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Swatch Saturday: Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows (Iridescent Finish)

This Saturday, here’s a swatch-a-palooza of the Iridescent shades from Make Up For Ever’s Artist Shadows ($21.00 for 0.08 oz.) that I’ll be reviewing (a couple may have already been reviewed).  This post does exclude any shades from the 30th Anniversary Palette (click the link for swatches of those), which I already posted before!  :)

5 Eyeshadows in Shades of Fall

One common color combination I feel I’ve been seeing more often as we get into autumn is a mix of copper, gold, and plum. Here’s my current favorite mix of shades in that vein! :) These could all be worn together or as three or four shades.  Subra is great for making the look appear smokier, cooler, while Goddess and Deep Damson create dimension with their less frosted finishes.  I’d love to hear what shades you’re using to recreate the combination as well.

  1. Make Up For Ever ME728 Copper Red — a metallic, golden copper
  2. Makeup Geek Goddess — a satiny, orange with hints of brown
  3. Make Up For Ever ME654 Cauldron — a rich bronze with a frosted sheen
  4. MAC Deep Damson — a matte, plummy burgundy
  5. NARS Subra — a deepened yet muted purpled burgundy with a soft, frosted finish

Fyrinnae Superstar (P, $6.80) is similar. MAC Florida (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery, cream product. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Make Up For Ever ME122, ME108, M536, M100, M532 Artist Shadows

Make Up For Ever ME122 Snow Artist Shadow ($21.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a frosted, metallic bright white with neutral-to-cool undertones. It had good color payoff with a creamy, buttery texture, but it didn’t go on smoothly as I anticipated. It’s almost too metallic, I think, so it just doesn’t have that perfectly even coverage that would be ideal. It wears for eight and a half hours, and it is blendable on the skin. This type of color is really not particularly unique (and understandable; every brand wants to have one of their own), but there are a lot of very close options: See comparison swatches / view dupes.
