To compose the line, Edna holed up in a conference room with James Gager, senior vice president and creative director of MAC Worldwide, and Jennifer Balbier, senior vice president of product development worldwide for MAC, to brainstorm. “I sat with very keen people wearing black and came up with a range of colors, which flatter me — and I’m approaching 60 from the wrong way — as well as women of all ages,” said Edna.
The offbeat pairing is the wacky type of deal that MAC seems to delight in. “For us, Edna represents the counterculture that MAC is steeped in,” said Gager. “This is a partnership that will make people stop and take notice.”
The line’s outer packaging is lavender — to match Dame Edna’s hair — and adorned with glittery red glasses, another Dame Edna trademark. Shade names — such as Coral Polyp and Varicose Violet (“my mother has varicosity, and thus inspired the color,” cracked the comedian) — follow Dame Edna’s outrageousness. And don’t be looking for a matchy-matchy mix. “We’re not afraid to clash with colors — we have nail polishes that have nothing to do with the lip colors we’re doing,” said Balbier. “It’s a wacky, fun mix.” Dame Edna’s loopy signature is embossed on the powders.
M•A•C Cosmetics brand opens its fifth store in Argentina, the first one with M•A•C PRO products. M•A•C PRO makeup line, created by make up artists and designed to fit all races, ages and sexes worldwide, will be available in Argentina starting on October 29th in a new store at Galerías Pacífico, in Buenos Aires city.
In addition to MAC PRO products, the new store will also sell the same products found in MAC stores and retail counters, and it will be open to general public, not only makeup artists and professionals.
“Running to a test for a show…working on new staff workshops…keeping my brushes clean! Every day is different, presenting new challenges: “We get to experience makeup in so many different ways at M•A•C, from body painting to working with celebrities, from the fashion world to training trainers and staff.” says Chantel Miller, M•A•C Senior Artist, who visited Argentina specially for the opening and presentation of the M•A•C PRO products.
The store has 86m2 and can be accessed directly from the street and also from inside Galerías Pacífico. The store is specially designed to enhance the product line, with a delicate equilibrium between textures, colors and lightning.
I know we have some international readers who have been dying for a PRO store… in Argentina! So happy day for all of you!
Dazzlelash mascara… I have to wear it and try it out for a few days before I can tell you what I like/don’t like. It does seem to give length, though I’m not sure about thickness yet. We’ll see!
