We all know LUSH as an eco-friendly brand, but this really takes it to the next level! Today, at 12 PM sharp, they will be leading a protest that urges shoppers to go “naked” by purchasing products free of packaging. The main event is located in NYC (Outside LUSH Soho, Broadway, & Spring St.), but the activity will also take place in Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta, Washington DC, Orlando, Portland, Aspen, Boulder, Carmel, Pasadena, Scottsdale, Maui, Annapolis, Bethesda, St. Louis, Las Vegas, Kansas City and Providence.
Why are LUSH employees shedding their clothes to talk about packaging? The environment is one of the biggest global issues we face today. In order to combat climate change and to protect the Earth’s scarce natural resources, shoppers need to take action by avoiding packaged goods. Unnecessary packaging can be found in almost every retailer: loose fruit individually shrink-wrapped or on plastic trays in supermarkets, the prolific use of plastic carrier bags and the mountains of plastic bottles used for cosmetic products are all contributing to the growing environmental crisis.
Did you know… LUSH only uses 100% post-consumer waste bottles for their plastic bottles? Their paper bags, cardboard boxes, and reusable tins are all made from recycled materials?
Good luck to those very brave employees! You wouldn’t catch me struttin’ my birthday suit all over town, even for a good cause, but then again, maybe I need to go on How To Look Good Naked, and then I’d be all over it.
LUSH is releasing a new product called Emotibombs! It’s a bath bomb for those who don’t have the shower–you get the same aromaatherapy benefits as the bath bomb, without having to fill up your tub (or shower stall). The Emotibombs dissolve slower than the bath bombs, and they have concentrated the essential oils to better suit the shower environment. There are four to choose from!

LUSH’S LATEST | I know we have some Lushies on Temptalia, and I love me some Lush myself. Here’s some recent happenings with the brand!
Porridge Soap ($5.95 for 1/4 lb) uses wholesome oats to help soothe your skin and scented with molasses. This product is great for those who suffer from eczema, because of oats’ soothing qualities. It’s also an exfoliator, but the bits aren’t too rough or hard.
RETRO LUSH IS HERE! This summer, when you order online, you can purchase some of your favorite discontinued LUSH products. You can give the gift of Retro ($49.95), which includes Uluru and Bon Bomb Bath Bombs, Pineapple Grunt Soap, Red Rooster Soap, Slammer Shower Gel, and Freezer Shower Gel. Or else browse the four pages of old favorites brought back. Can I just say this gift is awesome? I received it, and it’s so cute and fun to get. Bath bombs are ridiculously fun – make me feel like I’m 5 years old in the bath tub.
To celebrate the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games, LUSH has picked out four products perfect for the athlete in you! These include Wiccy Magic Muscles Massage Bar ($8.95) with cinnamon leaf oil and aduki beans; Fair Trade Foot Lotion ($19.95) to keep your feet in tip-toe condition; Demon in the Dark Soap ($8.75) with mint to help with inflammation; and Running to the Embassy Body Butter ($11.95) to help soften callusses, cracked heels, and feet.
Personally, I have never celebrated Easter as a religious holiday; it has always meant bunnies, lots of chocolate and candy, and a hearty holiday meal. These little Happy Easter gifts by LUSH are just adorable–don’t you think? I love the idea that they’re taking a stance of ‘egg-cess’ packaging, but I just think it’s utterly cute with the way the egg is hollowed out and can later act as a bath bomb.
This Easter, you’re in for a real treat as LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics crack open three new delicious Easter egg gifts that look so good, you’ll want to eat them! The HAPPY EASTER 500g hollow egg is made from bath bomb mix and contains two products inside, for an egg-shell-ent bath time experience. Once you’ve finished with the inner products, simply break off bits of the shell and throw into the tub for a really great soak. This is yet another novel idea from LUSH on how to cut down on egg-cess packaging, while still offering sumptuous gift ideas. And where there is packaging, it is bio-degradable. So get your hands on these indulgent, guilt-free and limited edition LUSH treats for $29.95 at www.lush.com.

LUSH wants you to “Go Green” this 2008, and I think it’s obvious that I am a definite LUSH fan, but me? Green? I’m a bit loathe to admit it, but I’m not necessarily the greenest nor eco-friendliest person you’ll meet. Despite this, however, I have attempted on several occasions to try more organic and environmentally friendly products, but I have met mostly mediocre results. Becoming a LUSH junkie has given me a better taste for more natural and green products, though, so when they came out with some eco-savvy products for their Go Green promotion, I felt I had to give them a whirl.
Inspired by UK-based environmental activist, Rebecca Lush (really, that’s her name), Go Green is a whole new line of fragrance dedicated to those who focus on making a environmental difference by walking the walk, literally. A genuine lady, Rebecca eschews single-passenger vehicles and routinely walks, cycles or takes public transportation. But, sometimes such activities leave her feeling less than fresh. So, Mark Constantine, our founder, created a fragrance just for her (and those of us like her).
GO GREEN — THE SCENT | You must enjoy the Go Green scent, as it is infused into each product of the Go Green promotion. If the scent makes you cringe, it’ll be hard to see you loving any of these! The scent itself is a citrus-y scent with a woody after-scent; it tends to smell almost like cleanliness does (just that good clean scent). It will definitely give you a vision of earthly delights and a touch of nature whenever you use one of the products. I found that the perfume is the most heavily scented, while the other products are more subtle (which makes sense).
