L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow 24 Hour — New Shades for Summer 2012

Known for its long-wear color authority, L’Oréal Paris’ Infallible collection introduces Infallible Eye Shadow – the first 24-hour formula in the mass marketplace. Available in a range of 12 irresistible and wearable shades, Infallible Eye Shadow was purposefully formulated to be long-wearing and to not settle into eyelid creases and lines – two of the top concerns of eye shadow-wearers. Its revolutionary velvet-soft texture comes in a lightly pressed form. This luxurious shadow blends easily and provides a pop of luminous color with a smooth, even finish. From softly shimmering to intensely rich, eye shadow wearers can now experience the colors they crave with the long-wearing benefits they’ve been dreaming about. New shades will be available in July 2012 for $7.95 nationwide.

L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara
L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara

Do you need a million lashes for a million dollar lash look?

L’Oreal Blackest Black (635) Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara ($8.99 for 0.30 fl. oz.) is designed as a volumizing mascara that will make your sparse lil’ lashes go from two to a million with a couple of coats of mascara. Obviously, like all mascaras, the claims are exaggerated, but what we can take out of all the marketing brouhaha is that it should give the illusion of a fuller fringe of lashes.

The good thing about mascara is a picture is worth at least 1,000 words, if not a few more. The wand on Voluminous Million Lashes works brilliantly to define and separate lashes–even after a couple of coats–and no clumping. My lashes look longer and thicker certainly, though increased volume? I’m not entirely sold. It’s there in some capacity, but perhaps not as volumizing as I’d expect from a full-on volumizing mascara.

I wore this for twelve hours, and I have no smudging or flaking issues to report. It also held my curl during the twelve hours I trialed this mascara (on five separate occasions). They added new technology to the tube itself so that when the wand pulls through the opening, it minimizes the amount of excess mascara on the brush/wand, for a cleaner application.  Blackest Black is a nice, inky black, too.

  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5

final thoughts: Love the brush and the packaging — could be more volumizing, though it is a nice mascara overall (but I rate based on how well a product performs relative to its claims).

L'Oreal Brown Extra Intense Eyeliner
L’Oreal Brown Extra Intense Eyeliner

Quick Reviews: L’Oreal Brown Extra Intense Eyeliner

L’Oreal Brown (797) Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner ($8.49 for 0.03 oz.) is a dark neutral brown with a creamy, semi-matte finish. It’s easy to work with, and it glides on smoothly on the lid and lash line. It doesn’t drag, pull, or tug, and it deposits color evenly and doesn’t need layers to go opaque.

Welcome to Swatch-all-idays! To start 2011 off on the right foot (or post, as it may be!), Temptalia is going through a backlog of products we have photographed, swatched, and often tested but in a slightly different manner. Quick reviews may be partially incomplete, such as a blush may only be swatched on the arm rather than shown on the face. It is our hope that what we are able to provide is still helpful!

  • Product: 29/30
  • Value: 7/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

RECOMMENDATION: This is one of the better eyeliners I’ve discovered at drugstores — at the price tag, I’d recommend waiting for them to go on sale!

NARS Manon, UD Ransom, MAC Rich Purple, L’Oreal HIP Violet Volt, MUFE #11L, Tarina Tarantino Amethyst Android, UD Lust

Purple and Violet Eyeliner Comparisons & Dupes

Here is our last eyeliner comparison — blue-based purples!

  • NARS Manon Eyeliner is a blue-based violet purple. There’s no shimmer, just pure purple. (Review)
  • Urban Decay Ransom 24/7 Liner is an iridescent violet purple with a pinky undertone. (Review)
  • MAC Rich Purple Chromagraphic Pencil is a dark, cool-toned purple (Review)
  • L’Oreal HIP Violet Volt Chrome Eyeliner is a grayed purple with a metallic sheen. (Review
  • Make Up For Ever #11L Aqua Eyes is a violet purple with a satin sheen. (Review)
  • Tarina Tarantino Amethyst Android Hyperliner is a violet purple with a satin sheen. It is slightly bluer than Make Up For Ever #11L. (Review)
  • Urban Decay Lust 24/7 Liner is a medium-dark, blue-based violet. It is bluer and darker than Make Up For Ever #11L. (Review)

Thoughts

DUPE ALERT! NARS Manon Eyeliner is a lighter version of MAC Rich Purple Chromagraphic Pencil.

DUPE ALERT! Makeup For Ever #11L Aqua Eyes is a slightly more purple (less blue) than Urban Decay’s Ransom 24/7 Liner–they are the closest in terms of color here, though.

Formula/Wear: NARS Eyeliner is the only one that I have any issues with based on my experience–it just smudges, migrates, and generally is a mess on me but many readers had positive experiences (and others who had similar experiences to mine), so I recommend reading the review for a fuller perspective.  MAC’s Chromagraphic Pencil is one of the longest wearing pencils I’ve come across and incredibly pigmented, too.
