Estee Lauder Dramatic Black Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayon
Estee Lauder Dramatic Black Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayon

Estee Lauder Dramatic Black Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayon

Estee Lauder Dramatic Black Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayon ($22.00 for 0.08 oz.) is an intense black with brown undertones. It looks pure black in person, but as is often the case with photos, blacks will either lean brown or black, depending on their actual undertone. Urban Decay Perversion is still a little more intense and has better color payoff in a single stroke. It’s also comparable to MAC Black Black, though this has less of a sheen.

This formula is approved for usage on the lower inner rim of the eye (also known as the water line), which is important to note. It’s also long-wearing, smudge-proof, and budge-proof–once it sets. Because it is Kajal, it is smudge-able for about thirty seconds, but once it sets, it stays put all day long on the lower lash line. On the lower water line, it lasts between six to seven hours. The consistency is very creamy and smooth against the skin, but the pencil itself feels and seems hard–though there’s absolutely no tugging or pulling at the lid whatsoever. I recommend swatching it against your hand once, just to get past the initial sharpness of the point when you first receive it.

It’s fairly opaque in a single pass, though it could use a wee bit more pigment to be truly opaque in one go. It builds up and layers with itself nicely, so it enables even, opaque color coverage with two passes or so.

I love the creaminess of the formula and how well it wears on the lash line! I also love the really matte finish this particular shade has. My only wish is for more color payoff so it would be really opaque in one stroke!

Estee Lauder Citron Kiss Pure Color Lipgloss
Estee Lauder Citron Kiss Pure Color Lipgloss

Estee Lauder Citron Kiss Pure Color Lipgloss

Estee Lauder Citron Kiss Pure Color Lipgloss ($22.50 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a gold shimmered gloss that has virtually no color, just soft, pale yellow gold shimmer and a glossy shine. MAC Moth to Flame looks similar on, though it’s less golden and more beige. Bobbi Brown Coral Sand is more orange. MAC Gold Dust is less yellow.  Really, any sheer gold-shimmered gloss will do.  I’m surprised I couldn’t think of something dead-on similar.  A gloss like this isn’t useless, it’s just not the type of gloss that most want ten of, because you can’t really see the nuances within it since there is not much to the base color.

If you like a little shimmer or you want something to layer over a lipstick without changing the color much, you might like this. I think it ends up being too simple to be a must-have for most. Citron Kiss wore of quickly, unfortunately–it was mostly gone after two hours. The texture is lightweight, feels almost gel-like once applied, and there is only a very slight tackiness to it (but I hesitate to call it that–it’s that subtle). Estee Lauder scents their glosses with their signature fig, which is best described as a sweet, fruity aroma.  It didn’t dry out my lips during the brief stint it was on my lips.

Estee Lauder Blackened Cocoa Pure Color Intense Kajal Eyeliner

Estee Lauder Blackened Cocoa Pure Color Intense Kajal Eyeliner

Estee Lauder Blackened Cocoa Pure Color Intense Kajal Eyeliner ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a deep, dark brown with warm, red undertones and a matte finish. It delivers good color coverage in a single pass, and it doesn’t pull or tug at the lash line during application. The consistency is creamy and soft, so it glides on easily across the lash line and water line. While some brown eyeliners are a softer alternative to black, the depth of this shade makes it nearly as powerful as a soft black eyeliner. CoverGirl Brown is similar, but not quite as intense.

Estee Lauder has been putting out a lot of new products with impressive formulas, and the Intense Kajal Eyeliner is no exception.  The creamy glide, rich color payoff, and long-wear make this a winner.  It wears five and a half hours on my lower water line but lasts for up to ten hours on my lower lash line–there’s no fading, smudging, or migrating during those ten hours either!

Estee Lauder Blackened Black Pure Color Intense Kajal Eyeliner

Estee Lauder Blackened Black Pure Color Intense Kajal Eyeliner ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a rich black with a mostly matte finish. It has excellent color payoff in a single stroke. I love how creamy this formula is; it glides on easily, evenly, and delivers full color without having to go back and forth. Despite the creamy consistency, it stays put–it doesn’t smudge, budge, or migrate on the lash line during the day. It doesn’t wear quite as well on the lower water line, but it did hang on for five to six hours.

This deep of a black is not impossible to find, but not every brand makes it. Some notable shades that are going to be similar in depth would be MAC Black Black and Urban Decay Perversion.

Blackened Black is a great choice for a rich, intense black eyeliner. The application is really lovely--soft, smooth, and easy to apply without tugging or pulling on the lash line.
