Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Multi-Palette

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Multi-Palette
Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Multi-Palette

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Multi-Cheek Palette (2016) ($50.00 for 0.40 oz.) includes a highlighter, blush, and contour powder. There is little said about the formula or actual products at all, so I’m rating these as an average product of the type. The highlighter seems to be in the spirit of the brand’s Gelee formula, but the others, while similarly patterned, feel more like traditional powder products. The palette, on the whole, was disappointing and pretty dupable at that.

Bronze Goddess Highlighter is a soft beige with warm, golden undertones and a luminous sheen. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage with a soft, blendable texture that wasn’t too firm or too powdery in the pan. The powder highlighted the skin without emphasizing pores. On me, it wore for seven and a half hours before fading. Hourglass Iridescent Strobe Light (P, $38.00) is cooler, less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Sparkling Rose (LE, $26.00) is darker (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Highlighter (Softcore) (LE, $55.00) is warmer, brighter (90% similar). Chanel Coups de Minuit (12) (LE, $45.00) is cooler, darker (90% similar). MAC Soft & Gentle (P, $32.00) is brighter, darker (90% similar). bareMinerals The Brilliant Sunset (LE, $26.00) is darker, more shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Luminous (P, $30.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Bronze Goddess Blush is a medium, rosy pink with warm undertones and a fine, golden shimmer-sheen finish. It had semi-opaque coverage with a slightly drier texture that was somewhat stiff in the pan. I couldn’t really build-up the color much beyond what you see in the swatch, no matter how many layers. It was fairly blendable but could have been easier to work with. It lasted for seven hours on me. Laura Geller Rosewater (P, $26.00) is more pigmented, darker (95% similar). Benefit Bella Bamba (DC, $28.00) is darker (90% similar). NARS Give In Take Blush III (LE) is lighter (90% similar). MAC At Dusk (LE, $25.00) is more muted (90% similar). Becca Camellia (P, $34.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). NARS 413 BLKR (Blush) (P, $30.00) is brighter, darker, less shimmery (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Bicoastal (Bottom) (LE) is darker (85% similar). Guerlain Smile (Right) (LE, $52.00) is lighter, less shimmery (85% similar). Tarina Tarantino Parasol (P, $25.00) is warmer, darker, more shimmery (85% similar). Colour Pop Boba (DC, $8.00) is brighter, lighter, more shimmery (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Bronze Goddess Contour is a medium orange with hints of brown and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque coverage and also had a firmer press to the pan like the blush (the highlighter is the easiest and most finely-milled powder of the three). It’s apparent that Estee Lauder has joined the bronzer = contour train, because this is an unlikely contour for many skin tones and looks more like a lighter version of most bronzers. It blends out decently and the finish is nice–a natural sheen that doesn’t emphasize pores or look overtly shimmery. It wore for seven and a half hours. Guerlain Terre d'Ete (LE, $78.00) is brighter, darker (95% similar). Zoeva ND020 (P) is darker, less shimmery (95% similar). Dolce and Gabbana Desert (P, $51.00) is darker, less shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Lo-Fi (LE, $26.00) is darker, less shimmery (90% similar). Colour Pop Carry-On (P, $8.00) is darker, less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Aphrodite's Shell (LE, $33.00) is darker, less shimmery (90% similar). Make Up For Ever #25I (P, $36.00) is darker, less shimmery (90% similar). Suqqu Hanachaori (02) (P, $34.00) is lighter, more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Delphic (LE, $33.00) is warmer, darker (90% similar). MAC Sunny Side (LE, $32.00) is lighter (85% similar). Colour Pop Paradise Cove (P, $8.00) is cooler, darker (85% similar). Sephora Fiji (25) (P, $14.00) is cooler, darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

5 Shades of Rose Quartz

Not one but two shades were selected as “Color of the Year” by Pantone for 2016. Their decision of choosing two hues, a pastel blue and pink, commonly associated as gender-specific colors, was explained as, “In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design. This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumer’s increased comfort with using color as a form of expression, a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage.” That’s what I like to hear! Here are five existing shades that line-up with the concept of Rose Quartz, which is a “warmer embracing rose tone.”

  1. Buxom Feather Boa — A Warm Pink with a Matte finish.
  2. NYX French Kiss — A Warm Pink with a Natural finish.
  3. Estee Lauder Desirable — A Warm Pink with a Natural finish.
  4. Zoya Rue — A Neutral Pink with a Cream finish.
  5. Inglot #356 — A Warm Pink with a Matte finish.

5 Faves: Pearl Lipsticks for Fall 2015

If you prefer your lip color with a little shimmer, this top five might be right up your alley! 🙂 Today’s picks feature my favorites for fall with a pearly twist.

  1. Estee Lauder Heavenly — a gold-shimmered coral
  2. Chanel Antoinette — a gold-shimmered copper-brown
  3. Guerlain Gracia — a pearly plum
  4. Guerlain Air Kiss — a sparkly muted plum
  5. Too Faced Metallic Jelly — a pearly berry-purple

5 Faves: Satin Lipsticks for Fall 2015

I find that I actually prefer a satin finish to a matte one as a personal preference; satins have a little sheen and offer more comfort than your average matte, but they aren’t truly glossy either. Here are some of my favorites for fall!

  1. Urban Decay Backtalk — a muted rosy pink
  2. Maybelline Touch of Spice — a medium-dark rose
  3. NARS Vivien — a rosy berry
  4. Estee Lauder Unattainable — a reddish-berry pink
  5. Urban Decay 1993 — a muted brown

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Defining Eyeshadow

Estee Lauder Naked Gold Pure Color Envy Defining Wet/Dry Eyeshadow
Estee Lauder Naked Gold Pure Color Envy Defining Wet/Dry Eyeshadow

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Defining Wet/Dry Eyeshadow ($25.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a formula that promises six hours of sheer color applied dry or eight hours of rich color applied damp. It’s available in over twenty shades–I have four of them, shown below–in a variety of finishes. They feel finer and silkier compared to Estee Lauder’s wet/dry Gelee formulation.

Estee Lauder Insolent Ivory Pure Color Envy Defining Wet/Dry Eyeshadow ($25.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a pop of light ivory with a satin finish. It goes on a lot lighter than it looks in the pan. Applied dry, it was semi-sheer, and then applied damp, it was mostly opaque. The texture was soft, smooth, and lightly powdery when used dry. It wore for five hours dry, six and a half hours damp. MAC Chill (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC This or That #1 (LE, $21.00) is warmer (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty The Mod #1 (P) is more shimmery (95% similar). Too Faced Purr (LE, $16.00) is darker (95% similar). Hello Kitty Milk (LE) is cooler (90% similar). bareMinerals Silhouette (LE) is more shimmery (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Estee Lauder Uninhibited Pure Color Envy Defining Wet/Dry Eyeshadow ($25.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light-medium peach with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It was very powdery, and I had the same, semi-sheer coverage whether applied dry or damp. The only difference that I could find was that damp application caused it to apply even more unevenly and look patchy on the lid. It applied more smoothly when used damp and didn’t emphasize the texture of the lid that way. It lasted for five hours dry, five hours damp.
Sugarpill Heart-Shaped Cookie (P, $16.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Inglot #330 (P, $6.00) is lighter (95% similar). LORAC Fawn (LE, $19.00) is lighter (95% similar). Sephora Walking in the Sand (P, $10.00) is lighter (95% similar). Urban Decay ABC Gum (P, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). Tarte Barefoot in the Grass (LE) is lighter (95% similar). Viseart Minx #1 (P) is brighter, lighter (95% similar). Kat Von D Vespertine (P) is darker (95% similar). bareMinerals Magnate (LE) is more shimmery (95% similar). Too Faced Lace Teddy (P, $16.00) is darker (95% similar). Urban Decay Stark (P, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). bareMinerals Natural (LE) is lighter (90% similar). bareMinerals Empress (LE) is lighter, more shimmery (90% similar). Becca Ombre Nudes #1 (P) is warmer, darker (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Estee Lauder Naked Gold Pure Color Envy Defining Wet/Dry Eyeshadow ($25.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium, tarnished gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. Applied dry, it had semi-sheer color coverage with a softer, more frost-like finish, and it wore well for six hours before fading. Applied damp, it was nicely pigmented with a stronger sheen that lasted for eight hours on me. The texture is a little dusty to work with, so I preferred using it damp for easiest application. Chanel Rêve d'Orient #3 (LE) is lighter (95% similar). L'Oreal Gold Imperial (LE, $7.99) is more shimmery (95% similar). Colour Pop Get Lucky (P, $5.00) is warmer, darker (95% similar). Urban Decay Strike (LE, $19.00) is darker, less shimmery (95% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Acacia (P, $14.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Too Faced Honey Pot (LE, $16.00) is warmer (95% similar). Laura Mercier Gilded Gold (P, $28.00) is brighter, lighter, less shimmery (90% similar). Lancome Eternal Gold (P, $24.50) is warmer, lighter (90% similar). Huda Beauty 24K (LE) is warmer (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty The Starlet #5 (P) is brighter, darker (90% similar). Guerlain Shalimar (Bottom) (LE) is cooler (90% similar). Maybelline Bold Gold (P, $6.99) is darker (90% similar). Buxom 24KT Stilettos (P, $12.00) is brighter, lighter, more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Night Thrill (LE, $22.00) is lighter (90% similar). Chanel Topkapi #4 (LE) is warmer (90% similar). Anastasia Metallic (P, $12.00) is darker (90% similar). Too Faced Instigator (LE, $16.00) is darker (85% similar). Estee Lauder Blonde Cumin (LE) is lighter (85% similar). Urban Decay Blitz (LE, $19.00) is warmer, darker (85% similar). Too Faced Twinkle (LE, $16.00) is darker (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Estee Lauder Insolent Ivory Pure Color Envy Defining Wet/Dry Eyeshadow ($25.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, dark brown with subtle, warm undertones–almost like a plummy brown, but it leans rather brown–paired with a semi-matte finish. Applied dry, it had sheer coverage with a powdery consistency that was challenging to blend, but it wore well for five and a half hours (out of the six promised!). Applied damp, it was semi-opaque, but it was still harder to blend as it looked a bit uneven applied; it lasted for seven hours. Laura Mercier Hot Chocolate (LE, $23.00) is brighter (95% similar). Makeup Geek Americano (P, $6.00) is darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Factory (P, $19.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Tarte Sippy Sippy (LE) is brighter, darker, more shimmery (90% similar). Tarte Stylin (P) is darker (90% similar). NARS Ithaca (LE, $25.00) is warmer, darker (90% similar). LORAC Bark (LE, $19.00) is warmer, darker (90% similar). Makeup Geek Aphrodite (LE, $6.00) is brighter, darker (90% similar). Too Faced Knock Out (LE, $16.00) is brighter, darker (90% similar). Makeup Geek Taupe Notch (P, $6.00) is lighter (90% similar). Colour Pop Bravery (LE, $5.00) is warmer (85% similar). LORAC Black #5 (LE, $19.00) is cooler, darker (85% similar). MAC Corduroy (P, $16.00) is warmer (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty About Last Night No. 20 (LE) is warmer, darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
