BRAZILIAN NUDE

It had semi-opaque color coverage that applied evenly, and the consistency was lightly creamy, emollient, and didn’t tug when applied. I didn’t feel like it slid around when I wore it, which made it last a bit better–almost four hours. It was lightly hydrating and had a vanilla scent to it with no taste (to me, at least). This shade had the level of translucency where just enough of the lip color will come through and alter how warm/cool/light/dark this shade looks based on one’s natural lip color.

CHILEAN SUNSET

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Brazilian Nude Lipstick ($45.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark orange-red with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had rich color coverage that went on smoothly, but the consistency itself was unforgiving and emphasized the texture of my lips with some of the color gathering in lip lines (the brightness and depth of the color made it harder to notice, at least). It felt more velvety and didn’t tug going on, but it just didn’t sit as well as on the lips overall. This shade wore well for over six hours but was a bit drying after four hours of wear. The formula was vanilla-scented but had no discernible taste. Because it’s imperfect, I think that the $45 price tag is hard to swallow, and the color itself (even the finish) is incredibly dupable–even within Estee Lauder’s permanent range.

MOROCCAN HEAT

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Moroccan Heat Lip Gloss ($36.00 for 0.07 fl. oz.) is a light-medium, peachy orange with warm, yellowy undertones and a cream finish. MAC Fashion Whim (LE, $20.00) is lighter (95% similar). Too Faced Milkshake (P, $22.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Ultimate Dish (LE, $15.00) is more pigmented, more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Rising Sun (P, $20.00) is warmer, more shimmery (90% similar). Sephora Cappuccino (02) (P, $12.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Divergent Supreme Ritual (LE) is lighter (90% similar). NARS Instant Crash (LE, $26.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Myth (LE, $15.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Naked Space (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Peachstock (LE, $15.00) is lighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

I found the gloss to be one of the more disappointing and lackluster (there’s a pun there, I know it!) products in the collection; it is such a weak gloss formula with the type of packaging that I know many are not enamored of, and there’s a pitiful amount of it in the container. It is strange to me that there is not even a noticeable amount of sparkle/shimmer in it to work as a layering product over the two lipsticks. It was moderately tacky, thin, difficult to spread across the lips, and then it welled into lip lines and looked a bit streaky and uneven on the lips to boot! Another thing that struck me as odd was that it is fig-scented, which is the old school Estee Lauder lip product smell, when they’ve been moving to vanilla scents (true in the Pure Color Envy line, and also true in the lipsticks from this same collection). The best part about the gloss was that it lasted for four hours on me and wasn’t drying.

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Bitter Clove & Charred Emerald Eye Metals

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Bitter Clove Eye Metals
Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Bitter Clove Eye Metals

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Eye Metals ($45.00 for 0.10 oz.) is supposed to be a “rich color powder eyeshadow” that is “densely pigmented” that can be worn alone or layered. There are two shades in the collection, and they performed similarly, though Bitter Clove is a bit richer overall and longer wearing. They were nicely pigmented with very dense, almost cream-like textures that blended out easily on the lid and adhered to bare lids. I found that they were prone to creasing within six hours of wear, but the wear time improved to eight hours (before creasing) over primer, so primer helped but can’t say these are the longest wearing formula. I did not experience much fall out, though, despite the high sparkle content in Bitter Clove (Charred Emerald has more of a pearly sheen). I liked them, but at the price point, it’s definitely a lot for a single eyeshadow, so they’re not going to be worth it for everyone.

They come in the same leather (or leather-like, even in the official press release I now have, there is almost nothing on packaging) compact with heavy-duty gold clasps and good weight to them. These are larger eyeshadows in terms of overall size, and the weight is about double most eyeshadows (MAC, Urban Decay, etc.).

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Bitter Clove Eye Metals ($45.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark golden blackened-brown with larger, gold flecks of sparkle and shimmer that has a more metallic finish. It was intensely pigmented with a dense, cream-like texture that blended and adhered well to the lid. The color started to crease faintly after six hours of wear. Gucci Beauty Iconic Gold (P, $37.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Too Faced Don't Settle (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Anastasia Brownie (P, $12.00) is darker, less shimmery (90% similar). Tarte Shake Down (LE, $14.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Zap (P, $22.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Natasha Denona Raw Gold (13M) (P, $29.00) is brighter, lighter, less shimmery (90% similar). Colour Pop Amira (DC, $5.00) is darker, less shimmery (90% similar). Colour Pop So Quiche (P, $5.00) is lighter (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Bronze (LE) is lighter, less shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Lithium (P, $20.00) is warmer (95% similar). Maybelline Bold Gold (P, $6.99) is lighter, less shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Oz #1 (LE, $19.00) is lighter (85% similar). Guerlain Les Precieux #4 (LE) is lighter, less shimmery (85% similar). Urban Decay Burn (LE, $19.00) is lighter, less shimmery (85% similar). bareMinerals Ritzy (LE) is darker, less shimmery (85% similar). Anastasia Chiffon (P, $12.00) is lighter, less shimmery (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Charred Emerald Eye Metals ($45.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep, blackened teal with subtle, cool undertones and a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was fantastic and was easy to apply to the skin. While it was intense on the lid initially, I noticed that the brightness seemed to fade within a few minutes, and it had more of a blackened look. From there, the color wore well for six hours before it started to crease on me. Milani Mix It Up (P, $6.99) is less shimmery (95% similar). Coloured Raine Forbidden (P, $6.99) is lighter (95% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Cleopatra (P, $32.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Too Faced Storm Cloud (LE, $16.00) is warmer, lighter (90% similar). Viseart Boheme Dream #10 (LE) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Deep Blue Green (P, $21.00) is warmer (90% similar). bareMinerals Deep Sea (LE, $14.00) is cooler, lighter (90% similar). MAC Tonight's the Night (LE, $22.00) is brighter (90% similar). bareMinerals Dazzle (P) is more muted (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

It’s a powder highlighter that features the brand’s Gelee formula, and it was released many years ago, though I do not have the original to compare this to. I can see why so many were longing for a rerelease of this one; it’s absolutely dazzling. There’s a really intricate play of sparkle and light reflecting when this is on the skin. You have to imagine that after so many years of swatching highlighters that it’s rare for a product to make me go, “Oooh, that’s incredible” but that is exactly what I did with this shade.

The texture is incredibly soft, smooth, and blendable with excellent color payoff that can be as intense or as soft as you desire. I found the formula very forgiving when it came to diffusing and blending; it worked with all types of brushes and could be worn as a subtle sheen when used with a fan brush or applied for a full, metallic glow with a denser cheek brush. On my skin tone, it adds a bit of noticeable color but not much and doesn’t run overly warm, so it reads as more neutral even with the visible color. I did not notice any emphasis of my pores or my skin’s natural texture with this on (but it doesn’t smooth the skin either). When I wore it, the color lasted for eight and a half hours on me.

Of all the products in the Victoria Beckham collection, this was the one first to sell out, and I saw that it launched this morning on Neiman Marcus (a week before it was supposed to), so happy hauling if this is the item you’ve been waiting for! 🙂 (As a FYI, Selfridges seems to have the majority of the collection in stock.)

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Java Sun Bronzer ($65.00 for 0.42 oz.) is a muted, medium brown with warm, yellowish undertones and a matte finish. bareMinerals Faux Tan Matte (LE) is brighter (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Tantric (P) is brighter, lighter (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Terra (P, $68.00) is warmer (90% similar). Laura Mercier Bronze (01) (P, $40.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Aphrodite's Shell (LE, $33.00) is lighter (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

There is not much said about this bronzer, beyond that it is a “matte bronzer” and “is as natural-looking as it gets” (which could refer to finish, color, or even coverage!). The texture is incredibly soft and silky, very smooth to the touch without being too powdery or too dusty, though there’s a little bit of excess product kicked up in the pan. Speaking of the pan, the amount you get is massive, so you’ll want to really be a fan of this if you want to hit pan! It had good pigmentation that was true-to-pan, while the silkier texture made it easy to blend and diffuse (or sheer out). It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Eye Palette

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Eye Palette
Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Eye Palette

Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Eye Palette ($95.00 for 0.25 oz.) contains six, shimmery eyeshadows that feature a wet/dry powder formula. I think if you like more pigmented eyeshadows that are blendable and wear well, you will enjoy this palette. That being said, there was not much of a difference between wet and dry for most shades; a couple of shades became more metallic and one had better color payoff applied damp. The formula was soft, smooth, and finely-milled and felt almost velvety to the touch, as it didn’t kick up powder but wasn’t really dense or cream-like either.

The compact itself has heft and has a very solid clasp. The black-hued portion is not plastic, and it has a softer, slightly plush feel–like leather (or pleather), but I’m not certain if it’s real leather or not, and it is carried through all of the collection’s compact products.

Fired Sapphire is a bright, medium blue with cooler undertones and a frosted finish. Applied dry, it was mostly opaque and wasn’t as pearlized as it was when it was applied damp, where the shimmer was more noticeable and gave the color a brighter look overall (and it was totally opaque). The consistency was soft, blendable, and silky, so it was easy to work with on bare skin and did not need a primer to perform well at all! This shade wore well for eight and a half hours before fading on me. NYX Kiss in Casablanca (P, $4.50) is darker, less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Freshwater (P, $16.00) is lighter, less shimmery (90% similar). Sephora Stormer (LE) is warmer, less shimmery (90% similar). Sugarpill Holy Ghost (P, $13.00) is more muted, less shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Radium (P, $19.00) is darker, less shimmery (90% similar). Viseart Boheme Dream #12 (LE) is lighter, less shimmery (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Blonde Cumin is a light-medium gold with warm, brown undertones and a soft, frosted finish. It was richly pigmented both applied dry and damp, while damp application made the shimmer appear smoother and more reflective. The texture was soft, smooth, and easy to work with on the lid as the color blended out easily without losing its intensity. On me, it wore for eight hours before I noticed subtle fading. Too Faced Bananas (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Colour Pop Fringe (DC, $5.00) is lighter (95% similar). Gucci Beauty Antique Gold (P, $37.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Metal Saffron is a medium, golden brown with warm, yellow undertones and a golden bronze shimmer. It had opaque color payoff both wet and dry, while the damp application was slightly smoother and more reflective. The texture was silky, smooth, and finely-milled, but it wasn’t powdery or dusty, so it adhered beautifully to bare skin and I had no trouble diffusing and blending out the edges. This shade wore well for eight and a half hours on me before creasing slightly. Too Faced Don't Settle (LE, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). Anastasia Chiffon (P, $12.00) is lighter, more shimmery (90% similar). Anastasia Brownie (P, $12.00) is cooler (90% similar). Colour Pop 8 Track (LE, $5.00) is cooler (90% similar). Make Up For Ever ME658 Golden Brown (P, $21.00) is warmer, darker (85% similar). Maybelline Downtown Brown (P, $6.99) is warmer (85% similar). Colour Pop Blaze (LE, $5.00) is warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Chase (P, $19.00) is warmer, brighter, lighter (80% similar). Natasha Denona Satin Tan (58P) (P, $29.00) is cooler, lighter, less shimmery (80% similar). Hello Kitty Chocolate Chip (LE) is warmer, brighter, lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Burnished Sage is a medium-dark forest green with subtle, warm undertones and a soft, frosted finish. Again, the color payoff was the same regardless of application method–totally opaque–which isn’t as described but I expect that to be welcomed by most. The texture was soft, just a smidgen dusty, but it applied well to the lid without sheering out or becoming patchy when blended. It wore well for almost nine hours before I saw signs of fading. Smashbox STFU (P) is lighter (95% similar). Makeup Geek Epic (P, $9.99) is cooler, more shimmery (95% similar). Viseart Bijoux Royal #11 (LE) is warmer (90% similar). Make Up For Ever #310 (DC, $20.00) is warmer, lighter (85% similar). Sugarpill Junebug (P, $13.00) is warmer, lighter (80% similar). Too Faced Christmas Tree (LE, $16.00) is lighter (80% similar). Colour Pop Empire (DC, $5.00) is lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Gray Amber is a dark, charcoal gray with subtle, neutral-to-warm undertones and a soft, satiny shimmer. It was semi-opaque and appeared warmer and lighter when applied dry, while the damp application yielded opaque coverage that was much more intense and appeared deeper in overall color. The texture was soft, lightly dusty but not prone to sheering out or fading over time, as it still wore for a solid eight hours before I detected changes in intensity. MAC Nighttrain (LE, $16.00) is lighter (95% similar). Chanel Tisse Paris #4 (P) is lighter (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Caviar (LE, $45.00) is glossier (95% similar). Viseart Diane (P) is lighter (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Black Nutmeg is a dark, reddish brown with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. When I applied it dry, it appeared less intense and a little lighter than when I applied it damp, though the coverage was opaque applied both wet and dry. The powder had a soft, smooth, and silky texture that wasn’t powdery or dusty. It adhered well to bare skin and blended out with ease, and it stayed on well for eight and a half hours. Giorgio Armani Senso (10) (P, $39.00) is warmer (95% similar). Chanel Seduction #4 (LE) is less shimmery (95% similar). Chanel Codes Elegants #4 (P) is lighter, less shimmery (95% similar). The Estee Edit Burn (LE) is cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Peach Pit (P, $16.00) is warmer, lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Lost (P, $19.00) is lighter (90% similar).
