MAC Petrol Blue is a dark navy blue with sparkle over a blackened blue base. This shade is similar to MUFE #8K and D&G #8.
MAC Blue Stripe is a blackened navy blue with a subtle sheen. It is darker and less sparkly compared to MAC Petrol Blue, and a touch darker than MUFE #3L.
Urban Decay Binge is a lightened navy blue with a hint of purple; it is a bit lighter than the other navy blues here.
Tarina Tarantino Cute Robot is a rich navy blue over a blackened navy base. It is comparable to NARS Rue Saint-Honore and MAC Petrol Blue.
Behind-the-Series: It was my intention to provide heavy, opaque swatches to provide an accurate color comparison. Some eyeliners required one pass, some required five, and a few even more. When possible, the shade name (above) is linked to the original review so you can read more about the quality, wear, etc. of a particular eyeliner. If we’ve never done a review, there will be no link. Shades that were limited edition will be marked with “(LE)” and shades that were discontinued will be marked with “(DC)” after the color description. You can also find all comparisons on The Dupe List.
What’s your favorite navy blue Eyeliner? How do you like to use it?
This shade applied fairly well; it was more prone to sheering out and didn’t want to build to fully opaque color, but it was very even in color overall. Depending on your skin tone, it may work well as a barely-there wash of color or to add definition to the outer lid/crease area. When I wore it alongside Halo, it lasted a full twelve hours without fading or creasing. It has a thin, creamy consistency that blended out easily on the lid. Despite its very wet-feel, once it dries down, it’s totally set for the rest of the day. The drying time on this shade was about average; not too long, not too short. I had enough time to maneuver and play with placement without it setting instantly.
Chained was a nice cream eyeshadow to work with overall; it wasn't completely perfect like Halo, but it has a good formula and depending on how you like your browns, it may readily become a go-to.

The new Pure Color Stay-on Shadow Paint formula is supposed to wear for 12-hours crease-free, fade-proof, and have “maximized color impact … magnified vibrancy.” Halo applied smoothly, evenly, and opaquely without having to load the brush with product or layer a ton of product on. The dry down time seemed about average; not so quick that you have no time to work with the product, but not so slow that it gathers in the crease if you don’t give it enough time to set. Once it dries down, it’s set for the whole day. It didn’t crease or fade over a 12-hour period. The texture was really nice, too, because it has a thin but very creamy feel.
P.S. — I have a few more shades to review, and I haven’t tested all of them yet, and while Halo is one of the best of the bunch, some of the others I did have some issues with. The line has seemed inconsistent to me so far, so I wanted to give readers a heads up that if you’re waffling over other shades, I have more reviews to come!
