Cult Nails Kiss My Rose Bush Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is a “classic pink … [with] a modern twist … [with a] wax finish.” It’s a medium pink with subtle warm undertones and a wax finish–so it’s mostly matte, almost squishy-looking (like vinyl, rubber, etc.) but has a slight sheen. MAC Snob is shinier. MAC Silly is lighter and shinier. Rescue Beauty Lounge Pepto Pink is darker, shinier. Essie Off the Shoulder is darker, shinier. See comparison swatches here.

I found the consistency of this shade to be a little on the thick side, and it was harder to apply smoothly and evenly. I felt like it was almost sticking to the nail and was rather streaky on the first coat. The second coat covered a lot of the streaking but not all. Because of the wax finish, I do recommend using a ridge-filling base coat to smooth out the surface. The wear I get with the wax finish formula gives me more tip wear after seven days than the cream/shimmer formula from Cult Nails. I didn’t have any issues with chipping, though.

Cult Nails Morning Glory Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is an “eye-catching shade of magenta that dries to a perfect wax finish.” It’s a medium-dark, fuchsia with a wax finish, so it has a vinyl-like look that’s mostly matte but has a slight sheen.  MAC Toco Toucan is similar but dries to a shiny finish. MAC Girl About Town is very similar but isn’t a wax finish. MAC Embrace Me is cooler-toned and shiny. L’Oreal Members Only is lighter and shiny. China Glaze Love’s a Beach is shimmery and shiny. China Glaze Escaping Reality is lighter. Essie Super Bossa Nova is iridescent and cooler-toned. See comparison swatches.

It was opaque in two coats, and it applied evenly, but the wax finish definitely isn’t forgiving if your nails aren’t perfectly smooth.  I would recommend using a ridge-filling base coat to help create a more even surface from the get go.  The drying time is faster than average, and it’s important to let each coat fully dry before applying a second coat to prevent the second coat from tugging at the previously-applied coat.  When I tried Morning Glory for wear, it lasted seven days with minor tip wear but no chipping, but it did have more tip wear than I normally see with Cult Nails’ other shades (with a glossier finish). If you’re not a fan of the wax finish, you can apply a top coat and get a shiny finish that way.

Cult Nails Ay Poppy Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright orange.” It’s a medium-dark, red-toned orange with a cream finish. Chanel Lilis is a bit lighter. NARS Lal Mirchi is very similar. MAC Oriele Orange is a bit redder. MAC Morange is similar. MAC Kid Orange is darker, redder. MAC Ablaze is redder. Chanel Holiday is a touch darker. China Glaze Life Preserver is redder.

There is not a single thing to complain about here–Ay Poppy is a brilliant, glossy finish after it dries down, so a top coat isn’t necessary. It’s fully opaque after two coats, and the consistency is just right; not too thick or too thin. The polish applied beautifully over the nail without streaking or bubbling. Cult Nails’ has a great formula that wears a full week with very minor tip wear in my experience.

Cult Nails Center of Attention Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “multi sized pink glitter intermixed with a color shifting micro glitter that goes from gold to orange.” It contains several sizes of pink glitter with smaller silver and gold glitters that are in the “background” so-to-speak all suspended in a clear base. I went through other glittery top coats I’ve reviewed, but I wasn’t able to find one quite like this; so if you have any dupe suggestions, please feel free to share!

The consistency of Center of Attention was refreshingly thin; it wasn’t too thin, but it wasn’t thick or gel-like as some glitter top coats can be. It felt very normal, and it still applied well without clumping up in places. I was able to apply a single coat and pull it across the nail and have the glitters evenly distribute. One coat provided good coverage for layering so the nail was covered but not so dense that you couldn’t see the color coat. For reference, I applied two coats of this alone on my thumb nail, and it’s semi-opaque. To avoid a noticeable texture to the nail, apply a thicker top coat. I usually get a week of wear with Cult Nails’ glitter top coats.

Cult Nails Faded Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.50 fl. 0z.) is described as a “light grey with subtle blue undertones.” It’s a pale, cement gray with a subtle cool undertone (read more neutral on me, but it looked more cool-toned in the bottle) and a cream finish. MAC Inert is warmer, more taupe-like. Nubar Earthen is very comparable (but needs a top coat to have similar shine). China Glaze Pelican Grey is darker and has shimmer.

Faded was fully opaque after two coats of polish.  It had a fantastic formula that flowed fluidly across the nail without streaking, bubbling, or pooling along the edges of the nail.  It dried down to a glossy finish (you could skip a top coat).  I liked that it didn’t get too dark or cool-toned, so it appeared as a lighter, airy kind of gray, rather than a stormy color.  I typically get a week of wear out of Cult Nails’ formula with very minor tip wear but no chipping.

Cult Nails Love at First Sight Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.50 fl. 0z.) is described as a “bright pastel influenced purple.” It’s a light-medium lavender-pink with a warmer undertone and a cream finish. OCC Pansy is pinker. Essie Nice is Nice is lighter and less pink. NARS Pokerface has shimmer and is purpler. Zoya Perrie is a touch darker but is quite close.

Love at First Sight was opaque after I applied two coats of polish. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, and it was easy to apply–I didn’t have any issues with the polish bubbling, streaking, or pooling along the edges of the nail. It even dried a bit faster than the average polish, and the final dry down is shiny and glossy. I think you could skip the top coat if you only add it for shine, but it will still look lovely (and just a bit glossier, depending on the top coat) if a top coat is added. I typically get a week of wear out of Cult Nails’ formula with very minor tip wear but no chipping.
